    Roger Carter is well known in the marching percussion activity for his dedication to excellence as well as his unique stylistic approach to rudimental drumming. Throughout his career, Roger has performed with and instructed for some of the foremost marching percussion programs in the world, including the Blue Devils, Crossmen, Madison Scouts, Broken City Indoor Percussion and the Bluecoats.
    “I really wanted to make a marching stick that had the feel of a drumset stick,” states Roger. “My approach to rudimental drumming incorporates groove and stylistic flow into a genre that has been historically defined by its rigidity. This stick is an extension of that.”
    Roger’s Corpsmaster® signature stick features a long, sloping taper, which pushes mass to the back of the stick for remarkable response and flow. The taper flanges back out slightly at the neck for added durability and focused power at the tip. Working in concert with this unique taper, a round tip provides excellent articulation at every dynamic level.
    The balance and speed of the new Roger Carter Corpsmaster® signature stick also makes it a fantastic choice for marching tenors. The long taper makes it easier to get around the drums and creates a great rim shot sound.
    “I could use anything I want and I've been with Vic for more than 20 years. I think that speaks for itself,” states Roger. “Many of my favorite drummers of all time use Vic Firth, and I am honored to be included among such an elite group as a Vic Firth Signature Artist.”

    This has become my go-to stick. After using so many brands and models this one
    feels good to my hands with great response off of the playing surface. This stick
    is not one of those Logs that you see with some models-rather it is a lighter stick
    and I like the round bead. I've always gravitated toward round beaded sticks for some
    reason. I like the taper on this model also. I hope they continue making this one.

    Are there any plans to make a scaled down drumset version of this stick? Say, in a 8D/5A range? That taper/bead combo looks like it would be very responsive.

      Hardimons are still the most consistent stick I've played with to date. I want to experiment with this one though. The taper seems to mimic the Mike Jackson.

    • @austinshoupe1506
      @austinshoupe1506 7 лет назад +3

      joe McHenry very different. Mike's stick is very large at the shoulder and at the tip. a lot of mass up front. these are much closer to a marching take on the AJ series or some of the more back weighted concert sticks. pretty sizable stick, but with a very easy feel instead of massive.

      joe McHenry maybe not from roger carter, but it seems like the john mapes stick is everywhere lately

      Hardimon's really aren't that great, I've discovered McNutt's are the best that I've used signature wise. That being said, I really wanna try out these sticks.

      Both Hardimons and these are very back heavy, but the Carter sticks have more color possibilities with the rim shot sounds and ramming fast passages. I used to dislike Hardimons, but I’ve found really good pairs of both models lately.

      everything about this comment is incorrect...Bluecoats will still use IP, but Broken City (a group Roger is involved with) uses Vic

    So umm,why don't you tune Bluecoats snares like that instead of cardboard boxes?

    • @codyboone7402
      @codyboone7402 7 лет назад +7

      Jon Robbins because there is different tuning to a small enclosed room then there is to a outside venue with 9 other snares. and bluecoats drums do not sound like a cardboard box. Roger knows what he is doing.

    • @raizedbynerdz8718
      @raizedbynerdz8718 7 лет назад

      Cody Boone I kindly disagree, and most snares these days sound like it. it nicely hides a lot of things

    • @sillyrabbit3611
      @sillyrabbit3611 6 лет назад +2

      Jon Robbins I actually hate it when snares are tuned too tight. Doesn't matter how good, you'll always hear flaws. I think tuning down will make drum lines sound more of a full sound. Same with tenor drums. People can say "hiding things." I call it "sounding good."
