Which are the items that you can't imagine commuting without?
I use an AirZound XL horn, and a cargo rack top bag on my Csepel Royal.
@@BikeCommuterHero yep, about 20' on a paved trail: very little interaction with traffic, thank God! My ride is a black Fyxation Third Ward with panniers, 3-speed. I also have a MTB and a road bike for the weekends.
1. Pinion 18 + Gates belt drive
2. Schwalbe Marathon Plus tires
3. Ortlieb Panniers
4. Good cycling clothes for the season
5 Items I Don’t Bike-Commute Without
1. Wheels
I love me a nice pair of round wheels. If you haven't tried riding with wheels, I highly recommend it-your commute will improve instantly.
2. A Frame
Sure, riding just the wheels is an interesting challenge, but nothing beats the sturdy embrace of a well-built triangle beneath you.
3. Pedals
Ever tried riding without pedals? It’s an advanced skill. Personally, I enjoy transferring power to my wheels without having to flail my legs wildly in the air.
4. A Saddle
It’s not that I don’t enjoy standing for 30 minutes straight, it’s just that I enjoy *sitting* more. A place to put my butt greatly enhances the experience.
5. A Direction to Go In
Some cyclists trust the road to guide them. Not me. I enjoy the radical concept of “having a destination.” Otherwise, I’d just be a guy pedaling in circles.
Excellent points, and very well made!!
What good is a destination without handlebars to be able to steer you there?
A good pair of tires is a MUST.
Rolling on Schwalbe Marathon Plus Tour tires for years now, normal use throughout the whole year, about 6200km a year.
And taking abuse in various countrys while on vacation.
And that so far without punctures, wich were not caused by myself haha. 😆
Only time the front got punctured serverely was while i was Hungary Legend Estate dragging my bike through a ditch down with thorned bushes on the front wheel, wich ended with 7 needles sticking in the tire with only 1 quite a big thorn gotten through the puncture barrier.
Wich caused a slow barrely noticible air leak, took 2 days of standing still to notice the tire shrank around the rim.
A cycling computer with various statistics like total ridden KM, navigation time and more is also something that i cant miss anymore for using a bike.
Using a older Garmin Edge 830 for the everyday use, and have a Garmin Edge 1040 Solar for the longer more intensive rides and vacations.
Other than that, good lightning back and front, and a good noticeble bell.
Excellent. Thanks. My commute is a shorter one: 4 miles each way on a flat, dedicated bike path in N. California.
Sounds like a sweet ride!
My Roval CL50 wheelset laughs at the tire glider. I wish I could find some sort of tire or lever or device that makes mounting tires on those rims something other than a sufferfest
I can't speak to the Tyreglider - Roval CL50 combination, but that wheelset seems a bit of an overkill for commuting. It's definitely beautiful though.
Super Video again, as always!
Could you please send me the link to those magnetic lights?
Greetings from Germany,
Frank
Cheers Frank! I put the links in the description. Forgot to mention it in the video.
Great video! I might check out those ear buds….
I was totally expecting the first comment to be a negative one about the buds. Ride safely!
@ psht if you just wear one and your hearing is decent, you should be fine!
same grips, same mirror. need to check out the rest. liked the idea with electromagnet lights.
