Hello guys ,Boho theme interior decor is not complete without some macrame 2020 decor piece. So this video is all about how to make macrame pillow cover/ how to make macrame pillow cover pattern for your home without sew no glue. This how to macrame pillow cover is my first time using macrame so its totally easy and simple diy.

In this project of macrame pillow cover pattern we have done 4 knotting techniques i.
1) Double half hitch knot
2) Box Knot
3) Diagonal double half hitch knot
4) Braid like knot

Thanks for this tutorial Darshana! I absolutely loved it, this is going to be my next project. I started learning macrame during quarantine and have never liked anything more. BTW the braid like knot looks like a series of horizontal cow hitch knot to me 🙂

It looks pretty.. however this tutorial was confusing because couldn't really see clearly how the knots are done...
Being a beginner.. it was a headache to understand. 😅
There are few channels who clearly show how the knots are done and they don't even speak. It would be great if you could film this one that way! Because it's easier to understand just by seeing rather than processing the words.
I really wish to make this one but I am afraid it's gonna confuse me... This is beautiful.. 🥺❤️

Love this design, I'm in the process of making this myself! However, I'm wondering how you finished it off at the very end? Did you poke the threads through holes like you did at the start or did you leave it 'hanging'?
Kristine Bech I left it hanging and brushed the ends .. if you would like you can just slightly sew on the two sides to secure the macrame to the pillow case with white thread and small needle probably half way through and at the end ... on both sides in that way the design won’t flip up and down ...

Your work is good, and the informations were complete. But the tutorial for every knot was not really clear and I couldn’t see how you was tying the knot because of the camera. I was able to do the majority of the pillow but now i’m stuck with the braid knot, if anyone knows what is it’s name and how I can do it, it would be great! I would like to finish my pillow :)
Noor Marine hey noor I am so sorry that the camera didn’t quite capture that correctly .. but I would like to help you ..
So to start the braid knot take a long separate macrame string ( I used around 6ft ) then fold it to join the ends and create a loop ...follow the first knot I did at time stamp 8.52 minutes, which is placing the looped macrame (6ft one) under your first string on far left and pass the ends over the placed string and through that loop of the 6ft string.. once your first knot is done follow the video from timestamp 9:27 mins to see how to take the double ended string (6ft one again) over then under the second macrame (holding cord) then the two end that you have held goes through the two strings (whose ends your holding ) and pull the holding cord straight down and the ends of that string straight out perpendicularly !!

My pillow is 16x16. How far apart should my markings be then? How many cords total? Why did you decide to put your markings 1.8cm apart? You wanted to have 24 markings in order to have 48 strings? Is having 48 strings necessary on any size pillow?
Ruth Salinas hi , welcome to my channel and thank you for your questions .. let me try to answer them one by one .. 1) how many markings ? , there are two ways of going about this if you want to have the same exact design with the same amount of markings you will need to separate them at every 1.7 cm approx to get 24 marking (which might be two cluttered for 16*16) but if you want to reduce them I would suggest to reduce in multiples of 4 so either 16 or 20 markings because some knots need sets of 4 ropes .second question why did I decide to separate them at 1.8 that’s just because A) I wanted multiples of 4 and B) I wanted them to not look too sparse or too cluttered so that’s why I would leave that decision to your discretion to choose 16/20 markings. Is 48 necessary? No but like I mentioned multiples of 4 is needed.. another way to look at this is since your pillow is smaller and not larger than mine you can see how the pattern looks by only looking at first 16/20 strings of the pillow rather than 24. You can get a sense of how the design will turn out that way .. hope this helps ... i also want to mention a big thank you for dropping in your comment .. I am here if you have any more questions.
Darshana's DIY Den Thank you for replying so fast! I’m trying to start this project but I don’t want to start poking holes in my pillow cover until I know exactly what I’m doing. I forgot to mention my cord is 5mm thick. Not sure if the thickness of the cord also makes a difference. I think I’ll go with 20 markings about 2mm apart. What do you think? Would that be too sparse or crowded for a 16x16 pillow with 5mm cord? Or just about right?
Ruth Salinas yea no worries I want my subscribers/ viewers to know replying to messages like yours is a priority . I love to motivate ppl to try diy projects and so I tend to respond soon .. so well one way to look at it is your cord is thick so that extra space might be for good. Also I feel you can mark with a chalk or something before you poke holes to sort of get well spaced markings and also I am sure once your through the project everything will come together :) I had certain holes not well spaces towards the end and it kind of spaced my design a little different but you don’t even see it anymore since the pillow is all done it looks coherent eventually :) ..
