What about removing imaginary things from your hair or clothes?
Also starting a conversation at one distance and realizing after a while that he's much closer.
And what if he keeps copying my orders when i customize something on a menu? Or drink orders?
What if he throws his head back to laugh at my jokes and doesn't do that with other people?
And if he seems to speak at a lower voice register?
And he keeps losing the thread of the conversation and having to remind himself what he was just talking about?

I have experienced all of these. New Yorkers are not rude, we are often in a rush and focused on other things. This can come across as rudeness or coldness but it isnt, it is practicality. It is the transplants who move here and the tourists who are rude.

Oh give us a break! People run around and have a million things to do in dozens of big cities around the world and yet their behaviour is much better than the standard New Yorker! Rudeness and coldness IS rudeness and coldness no matter how you try to sugar coat it! Practicality, my arse!

Hmmmm. Whenever I’ve been in NYC, I’ve found people to be very kind, cheerful, helpful, and go out of their way. I’m sure a lot who were so friendly were in a hurry, or had places to get to, but smiling and being friendly generally inspires a like response.

@@libbycollins9349 Indeed, people like to cling to the very outdated stereotype that New Yorkers are rude, but that isn't the case.
