Wilders defensive skills are from the rocky balboa school of boxing,i/e..his head.Brains gonna end up like porridge if he carries on.
I cant figure out if Wilder has taken heavy punishment or only moderate punishment in his career. He's an easy target who ended up in wars with people who can hang with him, but so many of his fights ended in the first few rounds and kept him fresh from damage that way. It's kinda all or nothing.
It would be funny if he started calling everyone Adrian.

I’d argue that his heart and mentality isn’t the same as it used to be and that is effecting his performance in the ring, but besides that, yeah not really any improvement boxing wise.
Parker deserves more credit , Joshua, Wilder and Zhang all went the distance with him. He obviously throws his opponents off of their game

@@click8708 not in the first half of the fight. He's clueless against anyone who knows how to angle in from outside his left hand, and that's Zhang's bread and butter. Zhang loses basically any fight that goes beyond 7, but I wouldn't bet on Wilder still being there by then. He's tailor-made for Zhang or any destructive, well-schooled southpaw.

Zhang knockout Wilder
Wilder's like a posh kid who has just come back from a 'gap yah' in south east Asia feeling all enlightened. In a way fair play to him,, sure the little legacy he had is being pissed down the drain but if he's mentally in a better place for the next stage of his life for retirement with bags of $$, Personally I'd take the latter instead of trying to prove you've still got it (or ever had it).
Wilder should reiterate honestly. He was always a paper champ, he never had the goods to hang with the best and now that the cat is put of the bag only pain and humiliation awaits at the end of his journey if he decides to carry on
What legacy? He ducked every top opponent and when he lost the fury cherry pick post-cocaine he was forced to actually fight decent opponents and will lose every time

Wilder went 30 rounds with Fury, and almost ghosted him up 3 times. Even on a bad day he beats Zhang. People overrate the fat no 9 with special fried. He's got shown up by the first proper fighter he's seen (Parker), and will get shown again by Wilder. Oh yeah he beat Joyce who looked fucking awful but who else?
Zhang is a trend, and like all trends he won't last long. I say Wilder in 2 by KO.

Considering Parkers age and hit opponents he's faced, one can deduce he's going to become Undisputed.
Parker could well be world champion again, although I think he'd struggle with Usyck.
Usyk is 37, so yeah, i can see Parker becomming champ when Usyk retires.
This fight makes me so happy for Parker. Feels good to see a solid guy win in boxing.
Wilder was NEVER that guy. His reputation was propped up by some great fights where he was soundly beaten by Tyson Fury. It's ridiculous how far he has gotten in boxing really, it just shows the lack of depth in the heavyweight division where someone with fundamentals worse than a local gym fighter can get as far as he did.

Zhang can't fix his problems, his weakness is his tank. He didn't have any energy to work on the same level as Parker so he lost.

I'm starting to think wilder was brain damaged before boxing
something really weird i just noticed is wilder is fighting at like 25 pounds heavier than what he used to. at his best he was 220, which helped him be so fast and explosive and meant he didn't need a nap after round 3. i remember going into the fury 3 fight he randomly decided to put 10 pounds on and everyone (me included) thought that was really stupid, but apparently he came out of that fight and decided he needs to get even heavier? that's probably half the reason he's so sluggish these days

I think Klitschko and Wilder are both his signature wins. Wilder fights were more exciting and he beat him more decisively, but Klitschko was a far more accomplished, greater boxer, so even if the fight itself was not great it's still up there.
Yeah but boxing is all about timing - beating wilder now compared to when he was undefeated, younger, active and knockout merchant is completely different.

Scoring two knockdowns and not getting knocked out or really hurt himself is good enough to warrant a rematch in my opinion.
They were not flash-knockdowns or pushing someone who is off-balance, they were legit. Even if Parker had dominated every other round it's proof that Parker came close to losing, thus making it a close fight.

A good boxing fight usually requires a similar height and weight of two boxers. Parker is too lighter and shorter than Zhang. Maybe Wilder is a better match for Zhang.
On paper it should be fireworks.
Reality might be a bit different, Wilder was gun shy in his last fight, and Zhang had nothing left after three rounds.

Listen, guys. Stop making excuses for Wilder's performances. Wilder was "good" until he started fighting top fighters. That's all that it is. He never fought any elite fighter until he faced Tyson Fury. Ortiz was on his way out by age so that can't be included. He is the same fighter who fought journey men. He is declining seemingly because he is facing top quality fighters now. If he faced these guys then, he would have probably lost before losing to Tyson Fury.

As far as I’m concerned, wilder was never very good. He was a hard hitter in a very poor division and for years defended against bums- some who would have beat him if not for his punch. Saying that, he should have beat Fury the first time but for a typical Fury ‘long count’ in the 12th round. But since his ayahuasca trip Wilder seems to have forgotten he even HAS a punch now, making him a pretty harmless fighter who can’t punch any more but still can’t box either. He’s FINISHED until we see him ko’ing people again. ‘You feel me?’
He is the same guy. He's just fought a few actual boxers and been exposed for what he is. Even a 50 year old Ortiz had him beat to rights and he was saved by one punch.
I don't know what bizarro world I live in where Joseph Parker WASN'T the favourite for that fight. Just look at his record; he beat 32 literal nobodies before fat Stiverne and then fought also rans until Ortiz. Compare it to Joshua's record and it's chalk and cheese.
Zhang obliterates Wilder. Wilder is the best of the also rans because of his natural power and he's only in that category because heavyweight boxing outside the top five or six is awful; the likes of blown up decent cruisers like Kabayel.
I'd like to see Wilder against Bakole, that'd be an interesting one. And I'd have Bakole starting as heavy favourite too.
If Zhang don't stop Wilder in the first half of the fight, Wilder will knock Zhang out in the 2nd half when Zhang inevitably will slow down and be hit too easily. Wilder is going to finally have to learn some boxing skills, by keeping out of range and keep running away until Zhang gasses out,, then... "Bosh!!!" It'll all be over. But can Wilder finally learn some tactical boxing skills??? Because Zhang would be one of the current elite, if HW boxing was only 6 rounds lol!
Parker was to quick for Wilder, but later in the fight, Zhang is there to be hit, and Wilder has always got that power, and is dangerous, even when he is gassing himself.
Wilder has got speed but Zhang has got timing. Zhang has a chin, is a southpaw and technically a much better boxer than Wilder is. Plus Zhang has fought Hrgovic, Joyce, Parker and managed to knock them all down at one point.
Wilder's a one trick pony. Fury undid him. Christ knows why he was ever called a good boxer!
Training wilder is absolutely pointless. He simply needs to be fit and strong, he hasn't changed his style in any way, shape or form, since his debut. Put pressure on him, get him on the back foot, and 80% of his game is out the window, truly just a pony with one mighty impressive trick.

Zhangs biggest enemy is time. He's always had a cardio problem because of his size and age as only made it worse. I would love to see Zhang win a belt but unfortunately his tentative, careful style is a bad match up against AJ, Parker, and Usyk. Against big punchers I believe Zhang can beat them all. Unfortunately for Zhang, this is boxing. You have to adapt to the opponent in front of you.

Zhang took Parker lightly and paid for it. The numbers on the scale proves it. That said, Parker had a good chance of winning regardless. Would like to have seen Zhang in there around the 260's. It would have been alot better fight.

Zhang's KD shots against Parker were not very convincing, Parker looked surprised rather than hurt in any way. Wilder should clean up easy if he comes out in good shape.
