  • In May of 1970, the Beatles released their final album, Let it Be. Featured on it were two George Harrison-written songs, the most known of which being the concise masterpiece I Me Mine.
While the lyrics may seem ambiguous, the meaning behind them is as deep as the mind of the writer himself. In this lyrical deep dive, we'll explore why and how I Me Mine was written, in turn revealing the depths of cosmic consciousness contained in its verses.

How did Paul dismiss it? He was listening to rather intently when John came in and bitched it wasnt Rock n roller enough for what the y were doing. John called it a waltz in its original form.

I agree that Paul was a little nicer from the jump.
But while George was playing it for all 3 of them that morning, Paul shot a patronizing grin at John and said, "this is last night's song," without hiding his condescension. It was the type of grin and tone in his voice that a parent gives to their spouse when their 2-year-old shows them their latest crayon drawing.
They then stood up and got to work on some Paul and John music until John took a break later in the day, and it was safe for George to play it again.
In fact, it wasn't even going to be on the album until it was requested by the film studio and label after the fact, and was actually recorded in 1970 when John had already quit the band - not during the Get Back sessions. It was completely dismissed by both John and Paul originally, in my opinion.

@@Lyristoric - Well thats an opinion, fact is Paul worked on it when they first recorded it and came in much later and helped finish recording the last bit of it, which was more than John did on many of Georges tunes.

What a dipSh*T* Paul and John could be ... John for saying it and Paul for a lack of balls to go along with it when in truth he was liking it until John buzzed in ... Egos pride The lack of true Wisdom, What a destroyer it can be!

I have experienced the same realm on LSD but I've also experienced IT many many times through astral traveling or without the aid of chemicals by merely thinking, meditating or just He or She sing we're going to go on a trip on a journey on a sojourn and a way we go!

Please be reminded that George loved his possessions. George loved his big houses. George loved his money and loved spending it even more. He wasn't giving any of it away. Just a 'pop star'. No more, no less

And I've always thought that George never seemed to transcend his bitterness and resentment towards Paul. He treated him like crap in the Anthology documentary, back in the 90s. Paul never stopped seeing him as a cute and less talentless little brother, maybe because of John's influence, or because he was younger, and their relationship had a teenage starting and that dynamic never really changed due to the fact that they all grow up together. And the Lennon-McCartney partnership must make it so hard for him to be acknowledged as someone on the same level. Paul was a very talented musician from an early age. And a multi-instrumentalist one, like the others, but more disciplined and constant, as we can see in "Get Back", the Peter Jackson's documentary. That gave him a sense of hard work ethics and being goal-oriented, that made him obnoxious, many times. I don't think George overcame his wounded ego about this.

What is so sad I me mine is such a great penning of words and thought and you could do George what you did to Ringo And what Eric did to you There's poetic injustice in all your free will and agency to use and abuse one another monstrously What did you learn on your cosmic trip my friend ... I think you all dropped the ball and Ringo in his trust and naivete did not or did he and we just haven't heard! I'll tell you what My group of friends never attained the fame you and the Beatles had but one thing we did attain that you guys never attained was harmony on and off the stage all Eight of Us!

Good I'm glad to hear John wasn't in it Don't miss any mistake I loved all the Beatles In fact John was the first guy I liked when the Beatles first came out and then it changed to Paul and then it changed to George and then it changed the Ringo and it pretty much stayed there and then I like them all again but that was my process till Yoko came into the picture What a damn shame and the Beatles won't admit it but they do in between the lines every time you interview them about Yoko and the Beatles I think it was totally disrespectful of Yoko and John when they rehearsed it was their time nobody else's and I thought that was a healthy thing I had relate with that because we all had wives and girlfriends but rehearsal was our time nobody else's and we kept it that way and that's why we're still friends good friends today!
