I once read an article that explains why Jimi Hendrix felt hopeless in making music. He felt he could not make good/pleasant music anymore that was in accordance with his heart. Every time he played, everyone clapped even though he played badly, out of tune made him not know whether he played badly or well that day.
I love Jimi Hendrix but it wasn't the first time it was played at an event. Maybe the most original version, but baseball has been playing it since 1918,and the N.F.L. since 1941. Peace.
Look at what he said “first to play at an event” meanin he played it himself not a recording from a radio or megaphone or whatever they used to play the national anthem

Damn I never put 2 and 2 together. Your right! He was an Army soldier. He had a different relationship with the military, the war and the anthem. Guaranteed he knew others that went to Vietnam and paid the ultimate price. That places his rendition into a whole new perspective.
He was put on the last day and when people were sleeping but many had left. Disrespectful. They didnt think he was big. But he showed them by waking people with the Star Bangled Banner. What a video. A man with talent, high IQ, a feel for the people
Never knew he was a vet but never saw his rendition as disrespectful. Even if people saw it as a protest to the war, being a patriot is not always agreeing with your country. It’s wanting the best for your fellow countrymen. A sheep is someone who always agrees with their country’s leadership. But a country is not only its leaders, but its everyday people as well. Without the people, a country wouldn’t be a country. I think many of us can agree that, Republican or Democrat, our leaders no longer work in our best interests, nor do they listen to us. But I think it’s patriotic to call them out for this, because you want the best for your fellow countrymen. Hence why racists flying the flag high, being hateful towards those that are different than them, are the least patriotic of all. I don’t care if you’re white, black, purple, or pink. Straight, gay, bisexual, or asexual. Christian, Muslim, agnostic, or atheist If you’re an American, you’re part of this country. As an American, you should look out for your fellow countrymen. If we all did this, we’d see big improvements. It’s sad that this country is ran on hate and greed.

Most people don't know that Jimi was right wing, hated communism, thought the US should fight against it when able and spent time in the military in the 101st Airborne
This is the most incorrect comment I’ve heard in my life, firstly after some legal trouble he was a given a choice between prison or joining the army obviously he chose to join the army, but he fucking hated it, and would neglect his duties to play guitar like the legend he is, one report from sgt. James C. Spears "He has no interest whatsoever in the Army ... It is my opinion that Private Hendrix will never come up to the standards required of a soldier. I feel that the military service will benefit if he is discharged as soon as possible.", and any assumption of what his political views are is contentious as it amounts to trying to decipher what his lyrics mean and they can be interpreted many different ways as the man isn’t here to elaborate, either way I highly doubt if jimi Hendrix was alive today he’d support the single most destructive force in American politics today
