I remember when I was a child I heard a story at our church of an elderly man who was attacked. He said that the men hit him over the head with a club repeatedly. He said he only felt the first blow. He survived and believed that God was with him and was the reason he felt no pain. This always comes to mind when I hear terrible stories of people being brutalized, even to point of death. I imagine they were surrounded by angels and didn't feel it. We are never alone when we walk with God.
