Why is the skill level of masterchef Australia so much higher than in the US?!
Masterchef US: Let's get some trashy people to fight each other and make it attractive to even the trashiest of viewers by adding unnecessary conflict. Ratings are king!
Masterchef Australia: Let's get some great amateur cooks and let them collaborate and be themselves and have some great food being made. Amazing shows will never drop in the ratings.
Also, in US, reality shows generally tend to pick people based on characters rather than skills.

According to an interview this dish is apparently one of the easier desserts to make that he serves on his restaurant menu. Apparently the producers shot down his initial proposal because it would be too hard for the contestants at this stage. I checked his restaurant menu, and this one is on his tasting Menu, the rest are a-la carte.
If that's true... I'm genuinely intimidated
HowDoIfindAnamE he's from a Chef family, his brother is a chef from Indonesia (also a MasterChef judge), if I'm not wrong one of the most famous sambal product from Indonesia called Sambal Bu Rudy is his aunty cooking business. So it's not surprising Reynold is that good. The restaurant in Sydney called Koi and it's owned by all the three brothers and Reynold cook there, so he really is that good! Oh ya Koi is more into like a Dessert Bar so yeah he's so good at dishes, very very good.

Only for dessert???
Every interaction here is fantastic; Reynolds is treated and respected as the myth he is in the culinary world and not letting it get to his head. The gasps of everyone there when unveiling the dessert isn't faked or forced, everybody was expectant. And the way the Chef say's "See what I mean? This is a finale dish", he sounds so proud of the champion they've chosen to represent authority on that challenge. Sublime.
