    For mining applications we usually swap rotation on our conveyors to clear the belt when operators choke it up

    As someone else mentioned, adding an encoder to the belt tail shaft would be a great training tool. you could then detect belt zero speed, which could be a jam or belt break, reverse motor for jam.

    THAT motor reverses by swapping the polarity, not all DC motors reverse that way. Something you find out when you may make a DC motor from scratch as an apprentice. But I like the test rig, would like one for my apprentices to demonstrate some concepts of automation. It would also be good to take to apprenticeship fairs we attend. Spend hours on this channel, always a good informative watch.

      I'm glad you like our channel! Check out this Festo trainer that we are rolling videos out on. It would be good at fairs.

    our storage line conveyor is reversible. It can be loaded or discharged from our automatic transfer car. basically a first in last out short term storage system. typically to store blanks for quick automated delivery to machines

    Hello Tim, thats really awesome

    Very nice Tim! We had something similar in the mechatronics classes I got but it was made by Festo and had add on stations that send the pucks through various processes before it was sorted like you are doing here. One comment I do have is it might be better to make the PB contacts the same color instead of red and black. Someone new to wiring might see that as needing to hook a positive and negative to it . Then of course not so good things will happen lol.

    Add a sensor at the end of the belt, to stop and reverse if both pushers miss.

    Awesome video, later could you include the hmi and analog programming to vary the conveyor speed for real life industrial applications

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  3 года назад +1

      This one doesn't have variable speed but we are going to do that with our standard trainer in our HMI series. Thanks for watching!

    Tim How are you?
    One way to use a reverse and forward motor is to have two augers for trash when one container is full the motor can reverse the belt so the trash can go to the other auger while the full auger gets empty.

    Hi Tim great videos I'm learning alot. I currently work in the pharmaceutical industry so I have alot of interactions with automation. Can you please make a video about bit registry and using it to reject certain things along a conveyor system. Thanks again for the great videos.

    Where is the wiring diagram you refer to ? I always thought the latch had to be parallel to the start button but i see you do it differently here. Interesting

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  Год назад +1

      It is in parallel. You can find all of our drawings at the link below. It is the start/stop.

    Anybody know how to search up those air operated pushers? I have a hobby application I want to use these on!

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  2 года назад +3

      Search for air cylinders. You'll get thousands of options.

      We use anywhere from 4 to 20 on our systems. All valves controlled from plc. Let's not forget 20+ sensors.

    Also I don't know if you have experience with them but especially in mining we have a lot of scales on our belts that tell speed and how much weight is on the belt with a load cell and an encoder how would one go about writing the logic for that?

  • @macmiles2322
    @macmiles2322 3 года назад +1

    I was wondering is it possible to have in place of two material sensors just one that is used to scan both aluminum and plastic? I’m thinking maybe their is something out in industry but not sure.

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  3 года назад +1

      The second sensor can sense both the aluminum and the black plastic. Your typical photoelectric sensor can do that.

      @@TimWilborne Thanks for the help! We have a similar trainer at TTC that has eight conveyor stations. One of the eight is pretty cool a Kuka robot that does the screwing for the base of the part.
