Very good video I truly enjoyed it. I never would have thought there was such a creature in Tolkiens work. I’ve only read the Hobbit & LoTR’s. So this is new info for me. Excellent video my friend.
Glad I could entertain, the audio quality wasn't as good as in other videos (this is one of my older works re-uploaded so it has the messed up quality others don't have). But yeah, Tolkien dabbled into vampires, and other horror elements and monsters like this mostly in the Silmarillion. The Hobbit & LOTR are both excellent works, I'd recommend now that you've finished them try your hand at the Silmarillion and its attendant epics. Should love to know what you think of those masterpieces also!
@@TheBrothersArda I’ll definitely give them a read before long and let you know, but I’m sure I’ll love more of his works. So what’s your thoughts on Amazons Rings of Power? I won’t lie I watched a couple episodes and turned it off. I refuse to watch any more of it. It had such potential I think to be good because there’s still so much within Tolkiens world they could have made a show about. If only they would have stuck closer to what he wrote and how he wrote it. They should have known the Tolkien purest among us wouldn’t like the direction they chose to go in with the characters and story line. And if they wanted creative freedom they could have wrote almost anything they wanted with the blue wizards since so little is known about them and their adventures.
@@jeeplife2035 Saw the trailers and found them wanting, some of my Tolkien-tuber friends watched it, told me some things and I decided not to watch it. It wasn't to my liking. My view is that they deliberately wrote it to be offensive to book-purists. Controversy sells, and I don't think Amazon was interested in the sort of tales that might interest LOTR fans.
Excellent analysis. In The Children of Hurin novel and in the Silmarillion, Morwen was accused of being a witch. That means Tolkien included witches in his legendarium. Beruthiel was a witch? Galadriel was a witch? Did you know about other witches?
Dracula gets killed by all males at the end of the story but BEFORE his defeat at the dusk time - right before the sun totally sets down - , Dracula´s three former brides - to wich he intended to add Mina as a fourth-one - were killed by Van Hellsing just the day before when they were resting on their sleeping-by-day coffins on Dracula´s castle undergrounds (using Jonathan Harker´s quoted indications for it). So if that had happened like when Sauron left out in despair, pain and deep fear of humiliated defeat as a vampire to linger and haunt the southern forests of Beleriand - and seems that never EVER rejoined Morgoth´s side even when he was on his own peak right before his fall at the War of Wrath, both for shame of being responsible of he loosing one Silmarill of his crown, and well of fear of total dreadfull reprehensions of it, so ... as Dracula´s brides were killed before him, Thuringwethil could have been killed then BEFORE when both Luthien and Huan infiltrated on Sauron´s fortesss seeking Beren for rescuing him. Thus by then when Sauron met them and well started the fight on both, untill he was defeated too. Having Thuringwethill eliminated before all made more sense to facilitate all later on, and well why Sauron met on face to face against Luthien and Huan then, as his messenger left an alarm right before being silenced forever then too. (Though still a cooler stand might have been she attempting both to flee to alert his master defeat on the higher master on both or/and also attempted to set revenge on her own against Luthien but... Huan take both the role of Van Hellsing then as he did with Sauron, or Luthien used her powers directly and on all the fortess so Thuringwethill was so doomed, even MORE than Sauron himself to make a reckless stand on both or to alert someone else after Sauron´s defeat.)
She is an awesome character however utterly UNDERDEVELOPED by Tolkien specially on what the heck had happened to her at the end after the end of First Age or her involvement alongside both Sauron and Morgoth as their common news messenger in-between, because it´s NOT CLEAR if she died or now and when, where and HOW it happened - but it seems she did as Luthien uses her magic to disguise herself as she, and as she also uses the same magic into her beloved Beren to turn him as a previoulsy well-acknowledged killed werewolf, Draugluin acurately, therefore could be infered that Luthien used Thuringwethil´s persona as SHE DIED SOMEHOW previously by the time around when Luthien rescued Beren from Sauron´s clutches defeating him and utterly humilliating him so he leaves in despair, shame and fear to be ever away from Morgoth´s thereafter. And so as indeed Sauron´s defeat is unknown by Morgoth by someone else telling him, both Luthien and Beren were able to infiltrated on his core domains and retrieve the Silmarill that Luthien´s father requested Beren to be the task-pride for allowing him to marry Luthien. then, thinking it was an unacheivable duty but... he succeded alongside HER HELP indeed!! So it seems that Luthien - maybe on her own or helped by Huan as she did before when defeating Sauron then - defeated and eliminated Thuringwethil either before meeting Sauron or after that and right before rescuing Beren from the dungeons and destroying later the whole doomed fortess with her magic powers (much alike Galadriel on Dol-Gudur´s final demise) however Tolkien WASTED a crucial meeting on both ladies in different sides of moral, to make a proper stand for that WOMEN ARE LINKED FOR BOTH GOOD AND EVIL and yet GOOD IS ALWAYS WORTHIEST IN THE END, but by some reasons, Tolkien seems to have a continuous biased on developing female antagonist specially about their proper doom because regardless of they being actually RARER than males, they are WORSE DEVELOPED and furtherlymore their endings are VAGUE AND AMBIGUOUS as he kinda had some fear of myssoginistic traits or accusations on himself for doing a proper justice paid-off on they just BECAUSE WERE FEMALES!! It´s odd but indeed STILL EXISTS: Ungoliant´s fate it´s unknown, contradictory and vague, the same applies to Shelob, Queen Beruthiel´s is the least ever developed villlainess and on her fate even less (though somewhere it seems she just was sent back to Umbar in shame and her cats turned on her too), and of course Thuringwethil seems to be the worst WASTED opportunity to have a rather coo - no matter is short and quick - stand against Luthien to attempt defeating her, missjudging her powers and appearence (much like as everyone did before on her) and well paying so high the delusion and high-self confidence on herself and powers on being a tricky-one because being a FEMALE and therefore having a complex and UNEXPECTED nature on what to make a stand on everyone else as MALES but... well paying high the price on that self-confidence on her own life either by Huan´s help on it or rather even more AWESOMELY GRATIFICANT by Luthien HERSELF undoing totally alone!!! (Sadly it seems Tolkien sensed as vulgar or low-level of writting to have a females confrontation as much how he seems that hated to develop female antagonists or doing a more explicit payoff their acts - seems that Tolkien had a very eary - yet unrealistic - feministic-centered view of females as less prone to evil or more willingly to repent or well, that were worthy on good than males but ... that totally RUINS the idea of having them both even positioned for both good and evil acts!! So he totally ON HIS OWN WILL avoided to have female antagonists at all, having even less development and having a less explicital payoff their deeds as the ones he did on males, but... that gets worst on Thuringwethil because there was a chance of having a GOOD FEMALE doing a stand DEFEATING AN EVIL ONE yet female TOO AND HE WAISTED IT either by purpose or unimaginative bias about it!!) Thuringwethill´s fate it´s unknown though it seems she died, and well the very few references on it made it EVEN MORE WASTED AND ANTICLIMATICAL for her role as she either was killed by Huan or she died like Cersei Lannister on the utterly waisted Game of Thrones finale by the same reasons: being crushed by the falling debris of Sauron´s fortess after Luthien´s powers unleashed on it, totally shamefull for what seems to be a quite COOL character to have such a low-foolish sloppy end by that!! (It kinda made more sense to have her be hurt by the falling of the fortess yet still alive untill she met Luthien and Beren leaving out and before she will alert Morgoth by Sauron´s defeat and what happened, Huan acted to finish her then. And yet still... this oportunity was ALSO WASTED even if that was a even lower but REASONABLE outcome of her fate than what was left on total obscurity by the Silmarillion or what could have been better of Luthien actually defeating Thuringwethil on a one-to-one match, no matter how short it was, and earning her magical cloak as a trophy of battle more than what just seems happened on the final story were she just picked it left over on the ground!) TOTALLY WASTED OPPORTUNITIES ON SUCH A COOL CHARACTER!!
Video's from a year ago, and yeah learnt that lesson hahaha our newer videos ended up solving that problem. Those such as the Silmarillion podcast soon followed after this one.
A rather more worthy interesting reference for female vampires than Dracula as main source could have been Sheridan Le Fanu´s Carmilla and a lot of more stories which actually had more female vampires than male ones and EARLIER on writting accounts too. (On classical mythology there were the Lamia, the Empusa/Larvae and the Mormo types yet with a lot of blending with witches and cursed-spectres too., Neil Gaiman eventually used those for the names of the three evil witches on the 2007 movie version of his Stardust fantasy-novel, the leading of them, Lamia, was the Queen of Witches and played by Michelle Pfeiffer.)
On my headcanon anyways Luthien KILLED HER directly ALONE HERSELF somewhere before or after defeating Sauron with Huan´s aid, and that was a rather cool - yet short scene - of having both magical females on opposite moral sides on a one-to-one battle which ended very bad for Turinghwethil but still was a TRICKY ONE and so very worthy earning to retrieve her magical cloak as a battle trophy than just picking up that from the floor after she being killed either by Huan or by the furtherly humiliating debris fallout of Sauron´s fortess. Totally WASTED AND UNDERDEVELOPED cool character and ALL about her on Tolkien´s behalf just because he was so annoyed and uncomfortable on having evil female roles on his writting and well having to set a properly justice pay-off at the end on the same level of detail as he did shamessly on male ones - very biased way of working indeed!! (C.S. Lewis did so much better both on Queen Jadi/White Witch and the Green Kirtle Lady/Queen of the Underworld at Narnia stories!)

@@TheBrothersArda I agree. It was another way to bring in their woke ideologies and ruin something pure and good.
I've read somewhere that Gandalf was partly inspired from Van Helsing.
