  • I decided to take my silver coins out of the glass jar they were in, and make something a little more presentable for them. I went cheap and tried doing it with a 2x6. Some things turned out good, while other not so much.
I ran into a few problems along the way, but the great people in the online community rushed into action and had me up and running again in no time.
Check back in a few days for a short video on how I designed, and made the box using Vcarve Pro.
Again thanks for watching, and keep on keeping on.

Why don’t you buy a 4 x 8 sheet of Styrofoam pink Styrofoam to do your test cuttings wouldn’t harm the tool that you can run Hire feed rates and speed

Very cool box. Very nice. Definitely would use that for gold coins. Wouldn’t fit my silver but it would definitely fit a lot of gold.

You seem to be interested in everything I am. I just started leather and have been doing CNC. I have the shark. Never made a video though. Keep going. I’ve done wood all my life.

Nice looking box. What was causing the depth problem?

One of the pitfalls of youtube. The things videos make people do. I know what you mean. I started building smokers after watching some welding videos. Taught myself to weld watching youtube, then I decided to get more into wood working, and next thing you know I got a CNC and have my own youtube channel. Good luck with your CNC build. Wish I had the time to build my own, and the space because if I built my own it would have to be at least 4x8 :-)

I used a .25 flat endmill for most of it. A 30 deg 1/8 v bit for the seal and 999 fine, a 1/16 to clean up the pocket carving on the lid, and a 1/8 to cut it out. Thanks.

Great looking box, and a nice design. Are you going to tell in the next video how you fixed the cut depth problem? Thanks.

Thanks for the videos I have enjoyed them and as far as I remember you have mentioned that the shapeoko is better than the x carve the reason I am asking is because thinking to buy one thanks

Well I don't think I can say one is "better" than the other. I can tell you I looked at the options and Shapeoko was my ultimate decision for various reasons. The main reason being rigidity. I think the Shapeoko is just built a little tougher. I think the Shapeoko's layout with the control board mounted to the machine giving it a smaller footprint was another reason. Thanks for watching my videos. Enjoy your machine when you get one.
