  • It was a great day for a family hike at Anderson Point Park in Olalla, Washington. We almost had to hurry back due to rain, but it cleared up and turned out to be an awesome afternoon.

It's great to see families enjoying the beach. It reminds me of my family who had owned the 60 acre, 2000 feet of beach property since 1896 when my grandfather homesteaded the land. The Virginia V of the mosquito fleet used to land at a float here and take people to Seattle for work. I've been trekking this path since I was three or so. My wife, Ruth and I, Burr lived in the A-Frame cabin during the summer of 1980. It was featured on the cover of the June 1960 Sunset Magazine. We watched Mt St Helen's erupt on Ruth's birthday. She passed in 2020 and most of her ashes were released into the water from the point, along the white sandy beach and where the cabin once stood. Thanks for sharing.
