I'm surprised that there is not more vandalism. I hope your video does not inspire people in the wrong way.
I do often second guess posting videos of places like this. My hope is that people will respect the area and leave it as is for all to enjoy, but we all know there are lots of bad decisions made in this world.

I grew up there! I’ll have to check it out 😊
@Melissa-n8r it's a great place to explore!
@@WillyExploringI apparently lived down the street from the old missle site as well, thx for sharing!
Im surprised to see my homeland on videos. I just saw your take on Ollala. And the old pioneer cemetery. Pretty interesting. Im from here. 1 of my grandfather's is from here. And his mother was from several tribes in the Kitsap pen and Olympic pen. I've watched this area growing into a mini metropolis. Good luck on your production.
@christopherfjwood5494 thank you. We've only been in Kitsap County for 12 years and it's changed a whole lot since then, so I can't imagine how drastically it's changed for those who have been here for generations
I've been there. I'm from there. Cemeteries are great subject matter. Historical. Unfortunately vandalism is rampant. I know other sites. . In the 80s, it was overgrown and minimal maintenance. The trees have grown through old burials. In older times it was a custom to plant trees on top of Graves. Starvation Heights is just a little ways away. Starvation Heights is true story for murder mystery fans.

I used to go there all the time when I was in the Army. I'm so sad now watching this. 8(
@fuethengmoua oh man, I'm sure it was a fun place while it was still in operation. It's always crazy seeing things change or get abandoned that we used to frequent.
😶
@@taffymayhamu1065 yessir
This makes me think that I can do this with my Tundra haha.
@John98512 You definitely could! As long as you're ok with the possibility of some dents and scratches around some tight turns and/or stumps and high bumps, it's a great time! Maybe go with a friend or have a winch in the event of getting high centered too. It's a blast.
@John98512 but also, keep in mind there are a couple trails and sections that are a bit much and not great in a daily driver.
Most of the grave stones are way older than Dr Hazard's time. Olalla was settled in its early years by a large number of Norwegian and other Scandinavian immigrants because of its similarities to their native countries. Noted as early as the 1860s Olalla developed a commerce center by way of its good seawater access.
@Honey-Sanchez It's so cool learning about the history of the places around here
There is a book about the Dr who starved people, she was run out of Washington or maybe the country went to Australia or? Then came back!!! They sell the book at the little museum RIGHT next to that wine tasting market. The mini museum has pictures, a bathtub and old oddities from the house the Dr treated or mal-treated patients! I was there 2024 St Patrick’s Day, a live band played on the parking lot; food was horrible!!! Bring a picnic if you go! Heard it was a great bbq or hamburger place before 😢
@@danggwed5416 it's definitely a cool little place.
VERY creepy seeing that poor old tree being choked to death over .....what? My, my, my, leave the living alone! Be it a tree! Maybe by someone dead by now as a stupid kid thinking prank! Yet we see just how very mean people be to a very simple beautiful tree!
Is it the Ollala cemetary or Ollala Pioneer cemetary?
On the Apple map it's the Olalla Pioneer Cemetery.
@jameschambers4387: I live here, and many roads are named after these pioneers. When I was there, a lot of the death dates were common with the Spanish Flu, cholera, etc. It was heartbreaking to see so many family members die within days of each other. I’m not sure if any Starvation Heights victims are there, because it would have been so obvious. The book by Gregg Olsen is a masterpiece. I’m still creeped out by the story, being within walking distance from the property! Yikes.
@@juliepeterson6639 Thanks for the information. I too have the book about Starvation Heights and I found it very interesting from a historical standpoint. I know the location where Dr Hazzard had her sanitarium and her house. They are not very close to the cemetery. I don't know what she did with the bodies but I don't think they were in that cemetery. I don't know who does maintenance on the cemetery but it appears to be groomed a bit.

not consumerism it is the need to see more like parts of a fave movie you always wanted to see much more and what was fully going on in the scene or even in a fave game too it is always good to watch on a better screen it is something to look forward a positive goal
oh gosh a ole drainage pipe ya don't wanna know what kind of drainage pipe, yes a geoduck they have long tendrils or foot as they are called for using water boy they have a lot down here in Shelton just not safe to go out searching for them anymore, honored to see you again.

It’s pretty sad to think that the people buried here have mostly been relegated to being nothing more than a name etched on a stone in a long-forgotten cemetery. The loved ones of these people have all now gone on as well, so who is left to remember them? Unfortunately, it’s a fate that awaits us all.
That's just how life goes.
is this cheaper than the $70 mariners parking garage?
I was working so I had a pass. But I've seen the parking price fluctuate from $30 to $110
Dr Hazard was her real name. Every ailment was treated with fasting, sometimes as much as 60 days. She had no medical license and sometimes forges the Will of her patients to steal their property/belongings. Her sanitarium still exists today as a house. She was sentenced to $20 and deportation to New Zealand where she continued to practice (medicine) lol
That's so wild. Thanks for sharing!
Looks like a tasty stroll! 😍😋
Cheer~~(of a liquid or gas) filter gradually through a porous surface or substance.😊
Can you sooner go live
It's great to see families enjoying the beach. It reminds me of my family who had owned the 60 acre, 2000 feet of beach property since 1896 when my grandfather homesteaded the land. The Virginia V of the mosquito fleet used to land at a float here and take people to Seattle for work. I've been trekking this path since I was three or so. My wife, Ruth and I, Burr lived in the A-Frame cabin during the summer of 1980. It was featured on the cover of the June 1960 Sunset Magazine. We watched Mt St Helen's erupt on Ruth's birthday. She passed in 2020 and most of her ashes were released into the water from the point, along the white sandy beach and where the cabin once stood. Thanks for sharing.
That's great to hear the history of that place. That you for sharing.
