- These are gorgeous cars - the Galaxie, Thunderbird and Falcon. And the Falcon got up to 30 MPG! Dig those women's fashions, too - you almost expect Jackie Kennedy to step out of the car.

Love the way they're parading from first one car to another, en mass, in their evening wear. "Let's all admire the Galaxie first! Then we'll promenade over to the Thunderbird! Now, in unison, we'll all sway over to the Falcon!"
They should have been dressed casual while viewing the Galaxie, then dressed formal while viewing the Thunderbird, then hugging a toilet bowl and hurling while viewing the Falcon.
Sounds like a Disney movie! What a wonderful time that was (just 2 years before I came along). Too bad the world isn't more like this today....
I turned 10 in 1960 and Fellini love with these cars!
The back of the Galaxie is very special
My parents had a 1960 Fairlane. Ran well, so far as I can remember. What's interesting is that according to what I've read, the full sized 1960 Fords were actually too wide by about an inch or so and the feds let them slide but Ford corrected the issue for the 1961 cars.
My mom had a new Ford Falcon. And now she has one that's fully restored!
So the Falcon came along the same year I did , One of my uncles did have a 60 Galaxie
My dream car Ford Galaxy 1960. Never will have one, but when very young my grandfather had one brand new.
I remember going with my dad to the showrooms in the late 60's to see the new cars, models and colors. My dad was a Buick man, i was a Chevy person. That's when you could tell one car from another because they all had their own designs and looked different. Those were the days when cars were made out of metal, chrome, the doors sounded solid when closed, the ride was comfortable, quiet, and roomy where you didn't have your knees in your dimples. Those were the days.
This commercial is extraordinarily excellent.
I just turned 50 myself! I recall these cars when they were getting on in years....
I'd love to have any these.
I like the 60's Ford! The Falcon had a 144 cid and a 170 cid engines, both six cylinder. In 1963 they went to a 200 cid 6 and a 260cid v-8. My friend in the military had a 1960 with the 144 engine. He was getting 35 mpg.
New cars for a new decade
Man what class these cars had., appropriate intro. Nothing cheap looking like today and the falcon got 30MPG 50 years ago wow...
Such beautiful cars... Wish I could've been alive to see them on the road...
It was great those days, Ford, Chevrolet, Plymouth and Dodge dominanted all others, but they all were great. The American Way🇺🇸
I recently rehomed one to my garage, a 64 comet caliente convertible. I get snickering looks from the folks in teslas and praise from every other person on the road. The jet age of cars was something to behold.
@@zchris87v80 I'm definitely a sucker for anything with tailfins. I'll have one someday...
@strident212 : I agree this commercial is an elegant classic of another era.
The American dream.
Colourful, innovative, creative and entertaining ad
Both my Grandfather and father got Galaxies in late September and then my father got the Falcon Ranchero pickup(?). The 1960 Galaxies had a huge interior.
The space race was on & so was the space marketing - *****
Really diggin that galaxie. Always had a thing for them.
Oh yeah...me too.
The 1960 Ford was the finest and most technologically advanced car Ford EVER built, at least until the 1961 Ford came out.
Amazing commercial. Can't even imagine what it would cost to make this commercial today.
Thank you my friend. It has been a great day !!!
I love how there is so little attention paid to the engineering , Its all about comfort and Style, Style Style!!! We new that we built solid sturdy cars in America (That you could do a lot of the repairs on yourself ) So it was all about curb appeal and elegance ! God how I miss those Wonderful golden days of American culture.
I remember as well. Many of the repairs one could do themselves. All you needed for a tuneup was a set of points, new plugs, and a timing light. Those were the days ! ! !
@MerleOberon Yes... but women then knew how to walk in spike stiletto heels,and dress well and do their hair and expected their men to appreciate it. WE DID!!
Whose watching in 2016?
Nope, I'm watching right now.
October 2021
You can have any color, as long as it comes in white. LOL
I sold my 60 Sunliner last year. I miss it dearly, but needed the money. On premium gas it got 13 city and 18 highway, pretty much SUV type mileage. It had a 352 with a 4 barrel.
Fords 233 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine got around 27 miles per gallon for their 1960 full size cars.
I'm an old commercial hobbiest myself... only that my commercials cover mainly the 1980s - this is by far the best car commercial from the Post World War II - Pre JFK assassination era of economic prosperity.
That which has been seen cannot be unseen.
Beautiful commercial..
From Times When The US Use to be a Hell of a Good Country. NUMBER ONE!
and those tail lights made a comeback on the first year pintos
I remember the Pinto, they were a real bomb ! ! !
Thank you my friend.
If that Falcon got 30mpg by 1960's standards, that would be like saying a 2010 Ford Fusion should get 100mpg. I'm sure if you used todays mpg guidelines, the Falcon would be rated closer to 18mpg. These cars are BEAST! They are as big as a house! They are still better than most new cars :)
AAAnd the very next year they ridded themselves of that hideous Thunderbird...changed it 100%.
Вот так вот! Это Форд - самый дешёвый автомобиль в Америке! В 60-е годы у них делались такие тачки. Молодцы!
Year I was born👶cool old car ad.
The Time Machine with a touch of I Love Lucy and the Wizard of Oz........Creepy, Very Creepy......LOL
That Falcon got 30 MPG??? Oh stop! No truth in advertising even in 1960!
I only get around 20 mpg in my Falcon lol
Ford is a car from the god 😃☺️
@390fe390 Safety features increase weight.... and in turn, there goes mileage.
Sing along !
When it comes to American automobile TV advertising, this 3-minute Ford epic is hard to beat in terms of complete jackassery.
@reneecalling lol ...so true
Not to be picky but look at the door alignment on the T-bird. Something seems a bit off...
It must have been hard to walk on grass in spike heels...
@Yankee10021 lol sametime I said WOW for a car ...all this shindig LOL
@99ONTGUY It sure was!!!!
Advertising then ( 1960) for cars is the kind of money they spend on pharmaceuticals these days & for what? Just makes them cost more
in your fuckin' dreams!! I got a '60 falcon and it gets about 18mpg
Man, what happened.
@99ONTGUY holy crap...don't remind me!
the falcon is small I got one and it gets about 18mpg.the others are fuckin' huge though
Me too. I'm going to be 50 on Feb 4th. Shit !!!! Ha ha
Fix Or Repair Daily
@palmercomm haha~
1960-2016
In America, it was 1960-1970 but in Australia it was 1960-2016
Old commercials were annoying. I feel like everyone in this commercial needs to smoke a blunt, including the voice actor
1960 impala smashes on these 3 junks
Lol no,
oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
There were not "falcon 4's" but there were plenty "ford 4's". you follow?
@rotary12arx3
@doomedamerica LOL!
falcon bigger than todays "full" size sad
Better wait a year to buy a thunderbird...I'm just saying
