I had problems with stencil stuff on fake skin. Ended up using an old school method with speed stick and green soap. Worked like a champ. Been using pound of flesh, gotta try this reel skin.
@@jaredmiller8740 go buy a heat gun from a hardware store, apply the deodorant, apply the stencil, remove the paper of the stencil and hit the fake skin with the heating for 3-5 minutes on high heat, until the deodorant is dried up.
Reel Skin is the shit. Stencils hold great even after literally about 20-30 min I swear, sometimes they hold too well lol. Then again, I only have been using their smaller sized skins.
@@clarewayne3577 it doesn't ship everywhere, and it's not cheap. While I totally agree with supporting small business, some people can't afford or go that route. I only just found a source this last week where I am.
Just leave it for 20 mins and go bottom to top. Absolutely no need to wait 2 days or even 1 day. Its more about what you put ontop the stencil transfer that preserves it. Personally for fake skin only i use Carmex Chap stick tubes and it works better than most anything I've found
OMG Please tell me what the solution is you got the stencil off with, when i used the liquid it sometimes over bleeds and stains, so while the lines are clean, your eyes are drawn away from the crispness. Please share!!
@@izzysiim I've been doing bleach too, I soak for ten minutes at a time and air without rinse twenty minutes and repeat if needed. Was just hoping for a quicker alternative, I'll try toilet stuff next round maybe today or tomorrow. Cheers
But isn't that counterproductive with realistic tattoos? I've tried several methods...either the stencil is too easy to wipe away or it's so tight that it can't be removed at all.
I bought some fake skin off Amazon. My first tattoo was spider man and it came out horrible in my opinion lol. But you mentioned the shiny side is the wrong side. I tattooed the shiny side so maybe that’s why it came out wrong. I was wondering why I had to dip my needle multiple times to get it to go in and I had to press down extra hard at times. I’m going to use the other side today and hopefully that will fix my issue. If that doesn’t then maybe the skin I bought just sucks? 🤦🏽♂️😂
Hi there in one of your videos do you have a photo of the brand-name logo of the fake skin that you use I’m from Australia and I’m trying to find the one that you use I’ve used a couple now and they always leave so much residue on the skin the ones that you use seem to do it less
How do you even tattoo on this stuff? I've tried but nothing takes for me. I absolutely hate going out of my way for real pig skin when I have this at my current place but don't know how to tattoo it for shit
I've found you've got to go a bit deeper in the "reel" fake skin, and go much slower than on normal skin. Its great for practicing art with the tattoo machine, but not an ideal imitation for skin. If you were to go that slow and deep on real skin you would cut the person and the lines might be blown out. Speaking from my experience though - could be the machine / cartridges I've used.
@@YourEarlyGrave thank you. I've tried to go deeper but it could just also be the fake skin I have that's crappy. Real pig skin has been great for me, it's basically as close to real skin as I can get to. I just hate driving an hour to get it and then it stinking up the car lol
Put a towel doubled up on your leg, and do it in there, hard surfaces suck and don't help you learn. Also dulls your needles faster, but otherwise, the previous reply is pretty on point. Good luck, oh and vaseline is your best friend if you dont want stains.
@@blackrain3715 If you are using cheaper fake skins bought on say Amazon, I think that’s a big factor. Ever since I switched to Reel Skin I don’t think I can go back to those leathery thin pieces of garbage. Just try out their smaller sizes if you don’t want to spend the money on their bigger ones. They take ink much easier and smoother.
I can honestly say that listening to how long you leave your stencil to dry helped...i leave mine while practicing around 15min ( ive jsut started with tats)...but pls, can you NOT fill the video with fillers?
The stencil shouldn’t be on that long when I do a tattoo on someone I wait for the stencil stuff to get tacky then lay the stencil run my hand over it lightly or press on it then take it off my stencils are never on for more than ten seconds
Cool stuff bro I usually leave it the boiler room on top of the boiler itself for like 10-15 minutes and I start working on it... It acts just like on real human skin... I loose the stencil as I move through the tattoo... Not sooner or later... Its just right..
Also when applying it I usually just lay the stencil down on the skin and put another piece of skin on top of it and leave it like that for a couple of minutes... So the weight of the skin presses it down evenly
Your fear of losing a bit of stencil would concern me. Ready in 5mins wipe in a direction that make sense and if you lose a bit of stencil remind yourself you are a tattoo artist not a tattoo tracer.

speed stick on a paper towel, then evenly on the silicone ensures less bleeds as the stencils stuff liquids are always uneven.
Real jail shyt folks i know that are covered in tats that look professionally done but got them in jail say this and facts it works.
Is it speed stick on skin? Then stencil? Then paper towel?
24 hours? Brooooooo, speed stick and 30 minutes. You’re making this harder than it needs to be.
I can't get speedstick to work for me😭😅

Awesome, thanks for all your doing dude. Like your teaching style and vibe!

Amazon homie, search silicone practice skin tattoo. Lots there.
You can get it directly from reel skin...support smaller business...not Amazon!! Also, some tattoo suppliers stock it. 😃
Reel Skin website, but I believe Oliver recently got sponsored so go through the link on his IG to help him out 👊

Most people working on fake skins are beginners. Tracing is a great way to gain muscle memory.
