    Nicely done video. Thanks! I really like the sound of all three of those instruments. They're each appealing to me in other ways, too. I like the color coding on the CP panel, the overall versatility of the Nord, and the feel of the keybed on the Korg. I'm not a gigging keyboardist, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate the user interfaces on stage pianos. Though the panels may look complicated at first, they tend to be logical and fairly intuitive. I personally enjoy having immediate access to the most often-used controls. The built-in speakers on (one of the versions of) the Korg, make it especially appealing to me.

    Very good video on three of the most popular ones atm. Atleast in their class. I think Korg has outdone themselves on this one. It's one of those instruments that is gonna be sought after long after it goes out of production. I changed the pedal. That was about it.

    I love the look and sound of all 3 of these. Unfortunately, in my area the only shops I can think of that carry instruments like these are big chain stores, and it's hit and miss what they'll have on display. I'm really curious how the action compares. I play a lot of instruments, but for a stage piano it would be nice if it felt as realistic as possible. One special advantage the Korg has for me is the 73-key option. It has the same action as the 88-key and that makes it one of the only hammer-action stage pianos that *might* fit in the passenger seat of my 2-seater (it has a large trunk for its size, so I can fit a folding table stand and other gear there).
    Anyone try these pianos out in person? As of this post, the only one I've tried is the Nord. It felt absolutely fantastic to me.

    As for the E.Piano, it's Rhodes, Wurli...- On VOX Continental the best E.Pianos from KORG (together with VOX). And only in VOX so far, nowhere else have I seen such chic E.Pianos from KORG. Therefore, the SV-2 is not the top-of-the-line in E.Pianos from KORG, I generally keep quiet about the ORGAN engine. And I want to say that I appreciate it higher than NORD, not only due to timbre and subtle nuances but also due to dynamic range. NuTube is worth adding to this - and the timbres of electromechanical instruments sound .... well, you know what I mean. Why is VOX Continental so in the shadows...

    Appreciate this video. I was a long time lover of the SV-1, but if the SV-2 is similar with a different sound bank that's actually pretty unappealing to me. I was hesitant purchasing the SV-1 due to latency in the keys - felt like they were weighing down my playing in their response. The CP-40 was an amazing keyboard and tried to do the same as Nord - but I'm glad Yamaha went a different route with the CP-88. The keybed is a much loved feel, the sounds are great and still similar to the CP-40 where you can change the sounds however you like (but reset them much easier). The Nord is a tricky one - I think a lot of people get high off of the "endless bank of sounds". Not many people I know use their Nord for all the sounds - mostly just stick to a solid few because they like the key touch and the organ/rhodes sounds (which are awesome). Usually Nord players typically are multi-keyboard players anyway. Just my take. It's a fun piece and the sounds are really great (like the Mac of keyboards lol), but scrolling through an infinite bank on that screen is a pain in the ass which is why people don't typically use them all even if its their main board.

    I just sent back my second SV-2S (with speakers) as the tube resonated with the speakers on certain mid-register keys - which made an audible buzz, very much worse on the second one on which it was more of a rattle. The first one also had a serious speaker resonance problem. I also experienced problems with the so-called seamless preset change. Which doesn't work particularly well with layered sounds. So I am not taking any more chances with a third SV-2S. I am currently looking in the direction of the CP-88 because of its hands-on layering properties and the fact that it has its own audio interface, so you can run soft synths etc. through the piano to the out channels :)

      @@geggytar the cp-88 - wooden keys, very nice :) I also like the sectioned layers although I primarily use the pianosection alone. Not optimal for classical but I make it work. It also works well as a midi keyboard and has the audio interface. So loads of hands-on tweaking possibilities and it has the extra input channel which I've tried with a microphone through a multieffect box - works well. Fun to play with but a bit of an over-kill for home use, however, the keybed made the difference for me.

  • @Zoco101
    @Zoco101 Год назад

    Ha, ha! I think it's the first time I've seen this old video. It's nicely presented (great voice) but a bit thin on data.
    It would have been good to mention which ones have seemless program changes, meaning switching between sounds while playing without any dropouts. And do any provide morphing on splits?
    While the presenter is right not to give overtly subjective opinions on the actions, he could mention that the RH3 action on the Korg is heavier than on most other stage pianos (which I like, but some people don't) plus mention any texturing and the wood keys on the CP-88.
    The Korg SV2-73 (without speakers) is currently a bit cheaper than the Yamaha CP-73, at least where I buy. I'm guessing it's a similar story with the 88s. It's worth noting that the Korg SV2-73 is the only 73-key stage piano with a graded weighted action. 88s tend to have graded actions of course.

    I've got a question , if I'm looking for an authentic Rhodes , with some nice sub bass in its sound , who offers it? I really want the sv2 I just want to know how its bass is (particularly when playing rhodes), again, a nice deep sub sound when playing down low
    Also , looking for a nice home use and maybe recording.
    Hence I also tend to like the fact the Korg has a speaker featured version..

    • @Noisegate
      @Noisegate  4 года назад +3

      Hi Eric. The lack of a screen on the SV-2 is a fundamental part of the design to add to the vintage vibe. There are dedicated knobs and buttons for basically everything so there's still a lot of visual feedback. And for getting everything setup there's always the software editor.

    Recently purchased and sent my CP88 back. There was very noticeable keybed noise on every note while playing all piano samplings (even though the piano sounds were excellent). And the Ab above the octave plinked in stead of resonating. Musicians Friend took it back right away but, all in all a bad experience. Yamaha's has developed a slap together factory mentality and to save money really low balled the Keybed. Cheap aluminum frame as well. There are many great features on it but the above mentioned issue's were a deal breaker.

    Yamaha has a very modern sound and always very bright tone. Sounds always very, very digital. Not a fan of that. On a live situation Yamahas new synths are probably the worst choice if you are playing in a rock or metal band: presets sucks monkey balls and because of the common sound structure, the sound/synthesis structure itself is too digital and "tight", that you have to struggle with the EQ all the time. It does NOT fit into the mix easily and if you are dealing with loud decibels. Nord has a red color. It is a horrible color to look ALL THE DAY and on a tour the lightning crew always hate it because the red shining color creates light distortions easily. Never thought about that? The Nord sound is very common too, so i quess it is ok if you are playing in a basic coverband or in a TV show but it does not create "wow" feeling anymore. Very basic tone and the red color....horrible. They are heavily overpriced too and at the moment there are so many new and used Nords n the market that they are starting to lose their value. There are too many Nords and now it is starting to punch back, you'll see. Nord got too greedy. Korg is the winner here: best sound, tube effect, the looks and you can always get good money out of it if you decide to sell it. Viscount Legend 70's is a really good model too but very pricy. Crumar Seven? Very good sound too but the common reliability of GSI products? Well, use Google, find answers and then decide. To me, Korg is the winner here. Easily.
