1) Fill the 3 gallon jug and dump in into the 5. 2) Fill the 3 gallon just again and fill the 5. This leaves 1 gallon in the 3 gallon. 3) Dump the five gallons out and put the 1 gallon in. 4) Fill the 3 gallon one more time and dump it in the 5 and that gives your 4 gallons.
Conversely, you can also get to 4 gallons by doing it this way: 1) Fill the 5 gallon jug and dump it into the 3 (leaves 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug). 2) Empty the 3 gallon jug, dump the remaining 2 gallons into the 3 gallon jug. 3) Refill the 5 gallon jug, and fill the 3 gallon jug (which already has 2 gallons in it) which leaves the 5 gallon jug with 4 gallons.
The writer of the film was interviewed by the FBI because when they were sent a copy of the script to review for security purposes, they realized that the basics of Simon's plan to distract the NYPD and burrow through to the money could actually work. He had to explain to them that every piece of information he'd used to plot it out was from publicly available sources and guided tours. They actually had to implement new security procedures at the Federal Reserve due to the movie so that this couldn't happen in real life. Also, this is easily the 2nd best Die Hard film, only falling short of "Die Hard" (1988) itself. Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson were the duo we didn't know we needed, and Jeremy Irons is great as a villain.
A writer for a TV show (CIS ?) exposed how your 'Archived Encrypted Data' (& thereby meant to be untraceable) internet searches can be used to find you when he was searching things like 'best way to kill someone?', 'best way to dispose of a body?', 'how to make a homemade bomb?' & several more 'criminal' searches triggered an alert at google when they were doing a 'Data Analysis' of old searches that they then tipped of to the F.B.I. Together they broke the location encryption (searches are not encrypted, just your personal info) & found his address & the F.B.I. raided his house & arrested him, the only reason he got off was because the company proved he was doing research for the show.
I agree this is 2nd. IMO, there are only 3 sequels that are superior to the original. Godfather 2, Aliens, and Austin Powers 2. I'm one of the few that prefer the original Terminator.
@@Tateorsomething Whether or not you prefer T1 or T2 its still a movie that is arguable either way. I think Thor: Rangarok is the only 3rd movie in a series that is the best film.
One funny fact about this movie is that the heist was so well planned and plausible enough that the screenwriter got questioned by the fbi after the movie came out. The federal reserve set mirrored to closely what the bank vault actually looks like in real life and there really is a subway spur you could drill through to get to the vault
Well I guess my fun fact for this movie will be that it was based on a novel titled "Simon Says" which was originally being adapted into Lethal Weapon 5, but after that fell through it got adapted again into a Die Hard film
Except that there are tours so you can visit that vault, Federal reserve vault in NYC was build in 1920s, it hold near 500 000 gold bars , 6200 tons, in 2019, you would need 300 trucks to move that gold, 30 is too few,, its 80 ft under street level and 50 ft under sea level and even if Manhattan has metro lines deeper that that, in that part of manhattan metro lines are just under the street surface.
What I liked about this Die Hard movie is that the background Police were competant. They weren't dumb and standing around like in Die Hard 1 & 2. They quickly found the bomb in chinatown, found out how much explosive Simon had, and they didn't get in McClane and Zeus' way. When not all the kids were evacuated, the bomb guy stayed behind and others went in to rescue them knowing they all could die.
I really like it when movies portray cops (other than the hero) as competent and helpful - Speed is another example. Jack is the hero of that movie, sure, but Harry, the Lieutenant, and the other officers have his back every step of the way.
Incompetent police is still realistic though. And by making it a cops vs Simon Gruber thing, it's no wonder why there are those who think that this is not really a Die Hard scenario movie where everything is stacked against McClane.
A 911 operator saying “this line is for emergencies only” in response to a frantic call about terrorists is not realistic A cop saying a body with multiple gunshot wounds that fell out a window was just a stock broker who got depressed I’d not realistic. There’s incompetent, and then there’s being unbelievably stupid just because the plot needs them to be
@@josephsarto689 Ever heard about the 911 operator who hung up on a caller that's trying to save a dying person b/c she got offended about getting yelled at during an emergency? What next, an unbelievably stupid president? Nah! There's having faith in humanity, and then there's being naive.
It's funny that you mention Speed. The script for Speed was considered for development into a Die Hard movie (it's relatively easy to imagine that maybe Holly was supposed to be driving the bus, if they'd kept the basic format of the first two). Joel Silver wanted to develop this script, originally called Simon Says, as a Lethal Weapon movie, but the producers of Die Hard won that argument. Apparently, other than the names, the script is pretty much identical for something like the first half. One thing I only learned just a couple of years ago is that Jeremy Irons doesn't sing in The Lion King. The guy they got to impersonate Irons is so good I never realized it wasn't him. When Jackson was offered the role, he got really excited about it, because he loved the original Die Hard and was excited to work with both Willis (they're both in Pulp Fiction but don't interact). When you watch enough movies you start recognizing bit players who are local. Not only is Sam Jackson in the NYC-set Coming to America, but the old lady who first sees McClane wearing the billboard is also in that film, as the lady who Prince Akeem gives his earrings to on the subway. McClane jokes that he could've been sitting at home "smoking cigarettes and watching 'Captain Kangaroo.'" This line is a lyric from a song called "Flowers On the Wall," which Willis sings in Pulp Fiction right before he spots Marcellus Wallace and crashes his car. (By the way, "Captain Kangaroo" was a 1950s kids TV show that ran for almost 30 years.) The cop who plays his badge in the lottery and gets killed is actor Anthony Peck. He is a favorite of John McTiernan, also appearing in The Hunt For Red October...and the original Die Hard, as a random police officer. Obviously, it wasn't important because most people didn't notice, but they joked that the cop character from that one transferred from Los Angeles to New York between the two movies. All of the first three Die Hard movies quote a song in their score. In the original, the score frequently references "Ode to Joy." In the sequel (the one many don't notice), the score quotes "Finlandia," a tone poem by Jean Sibelius -- a reference to the film's Finnish director, Renny Harlin. So, referencing "The Ants Go Marching" -- which was originally called "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" -- is a continuation of a hallmark from the original trilogy. An elephant is always ready to travel because he has a trunk. There are two solutions to the water jug riddle. Solution One: 1) Fill the 5, dump it into the 3, leaving 2 behind. 2) Transfer the 2 from the 5 back into the 3, leaving 1 gallon of space in the 3. 3) Fill the 5 all the way, and then pour out 1 gallon from the 5 into the 3 with 2 in it, and it will leave 4 behind in the 5. Solution Two: 1) Fill the 3, pour it into the 5. 2) Fill the 3 again, pour as much into the 5 as you can, which should be 2 out of 5 gallons, leaving 1 behind in the 3. 3) Dump the 5, pour the 1 into the 5, and then fill the 3 and add that to the 5 as well, adding up to 4 gallons. When they're on the boat, John uses his teeth to pull a chunk of metal cable thread out of his arm. The ending of the movie was famously changed. In the original ending, which was a DVD extra and can be found on RUclips, McClane truly loses. Simon gets away, and they transport the gold by melting it into little souvenir Statue of Liberty figurines. Months after the events of the movie, McClane finds Simon in another country, having lost his job and Holly for good, and plays a game with Simon using a rocket launcher he's removed the directional arrows from. The game is, decide which end to point at him and which end to point at McClane, and then pull the trigger. Audiences didn't like the idea of McClane losing everything, so they did an elaborate reshoot comprising the entire Canadian ending of the movie. I think they diverged from Holly because they didn't want the series to become formulaic. The second movie calls attention to the formula, it's based around McClane and Holly, he has a sidekick in the form of the janitor, they bring back the newscaster character that Holly punched, etc. On top of echoing everyone's suggestion that it is worth watching the fourth Die Hard even though it does go more "superhero" (I still think it's better than 2), I also want to mention The Long Kiss Goodnight again, by Die Hard 2 director Renny Harlin, and featuring Samuel L. Jackson in his favorite of his own roles. I don't know if it's similar to Die Hard, but it is another great '90s action movie. It's technically a Christmas movie, but who cares, it can be watched at any time.
LIke you said, movie making and Hollywood is a small World Scripts gets bounced around, actors who're supposed to play this movie, ends up on this movie. Realisator 1 as worked with Producer b and Actor A on this movie, then 1 and A worked on another, where the wife of B was a gag reel/photography, then bits of this scenario who where not used, ended up in that other movie who was directed by Real 1. Its like a Game of Catch me if you can and there's so many interconnections, even on productions that you'd think there's none between them. Its crazy.
It was pretty common for a studio to get wind of a certain big release genre movie being made for a rival studio and then they would try to gazump the other studio by releasing their own similar movie first. Armageddon and Deep Impact come to mind, but there are other examples. Beverly Hills Cop was meant to be a Stallone film but he passed and it went to Eddie Murphy, then Stallone took the idea and turned it into Cobra. A lot of scripts kick around the place for years and get endlessly rewritten until they can make it happen. It's possible to make a living as a writer and never have a word of your writing appear on screen.
Jeremy Irons was brilliant in this. It's one of my favourite performances of his. Also, the scene in which Samuel L. Jackson wants to answer the phone. Is later referenced in The Incredibles.
Looks like he had fun, but probably mostly enjoyed the ridiculous paycheck they gave him for what was a relatively small amount of work. He really only does some voice overs and a handful of scenes.
Simone, Gray's Papaya is a hot dog restaurant. Every style, kind and variety you could imagine (and many you can't). It was established in NYC as was Nathan's Famous hot dogs, although Nathan's is much older. The first Nathan's s opened in 1919, the year before my grandfather was born. One major difference between the two is that Nathan's tends to stick to traditional toppings and condiments, while at Gray's variety is king. I don't live in NYC anymore, but there are three things I miss the most: the pizza, the bagels, and the hot dogs, especially Gray's Papaya.
I found it very interesting that Simone had heard of Gray's Papaya. If there was to be a famous NYC hot dog place that someone from Canada would have heard of, I would have thought it would have been Papaya King. Maybe she's heard of both! Interestingly, they share a pedigree as the original owner of Gray's Papaya was a former partner in Papaya King
@@clash5j Papaya King was the bomb! Too bad it closed down. I feel like Gray's is the more popular one because they talked about it in Seinfeld (the only show I ever saw talk about Papaya King was Law & Order).

I would gladly have you watch 4 because as much as it's goes too far with the superhero stuff, it has Justin Long as a great side character - but there is certainly nothing left you need to see in the way everyone told you that you had to see this one.
4 was awesome because everyone came out of that movie thinking, can this plot really happened. To this day, government spend billions of dollars trying to prevent the plot from actually becoming reality. And to the fact that parts of the plot has just recently been done by China.
@@Eidlones Yeah, I think the only script that was written for the franchise was the first; everything else started as something else. They should use that if they ever do a bunch of Die Hard “Pitch Meetings.”
@@epbrown01 And the first one was based on a book, Nothing Lasts Forever, that was a sequel to another book, The Detective, that was made into a movie starring Frank Sinatra. Apparently, because Die Hard was technically a sequel, they were contractually obliged to offer the part to the septuagenarian Sinatra who, thankfully, turned it down.
A trunk is also a name for a type of large suitcase that's used for long journeys. The sort of thing you'd see rich people have on long voyages before air-travel.
FUN FACT: The youngest of Zeus's nephews is played by Aldis Hodge. He appears in the last film "A Good Day to Die Hard" as a different character from the one he plays here -- military personnel, if I remember correctly. You may have also seen him as MC Ren in "Straight Outta Compton", Elizabeth Moss's friend in "The Invisible Man", and Hawkman in "Black Adam".
I love that the trucks being reported stolen is just glossed over at the very beginning. Later in the movie very few people even remember it was mentioned.
The first Die Hard is great because it’s just classic, but this one is for sure the best of the series. Nonstop action from the beginning, perfectly blended with comedic relief moments and one liners.
Eh, I get why this is people's favourite, it's certainly the most fun and if that's your priority that's great, but I'd say the original wins on almost every actual filmmaking metric except action sequences. I also think the actual heist in the first hangs together a lot better. It's funny George mentioned the Dark Knight coz I think like that, the writer stuffs the plot with loads of elements to kind of distract from the fact that it's very much reliant on luck, very RNG-based if you like, while Hans's plan was much tighter.
Simone, everyone has had a moment where they just couldn’t get out what they wanted to say so don’t worry and George, thank you for leaving it in, it was hilarious.
"It's a hundred feet down to the deck..." "I can make it..." Shades of "Aim for the bushes" in terms of bad plans, both executed by Sam Jackson. Die Hard 3 is my fave of the series. Sam and Bruce have great combative energy, Jeremy Irons is slick AF, and the plot is so dynamic, tense, and well crafted. 4 (Live Free or Die Hard) is also good. Below 1 but better than 2. Skip 5.
LOVED this watchalong with you two! And yes, McTiernan IS great at action flicks, but more specifically, great at juggling multiple storylines without it looking so busy, case in point Hunt for Red October which you've already done. I REALLY hope you try his 1999's Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo. It is sooo good. I mean, the man makes exchanging a set of keys to someone look sexy, lol.
It’s not a fictional company. Also, actual fictional companies being in multiple movies is usually just because they rented props from the same prop house.
I love the first but I think this one is my favourite. The chemistry between Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson is amazing. Oh and I also vote for you to watch part 4. Do the unrated version and it's not far off in quality from parts 1 and 3 in my opinion. Justin Long is in it and as always, he's a very likeable character and also has great chemistry with Bruce Willis.

John McTiernan: Predator (1987), Die Hard (1988), Hunt for Red October (1990) - an amazing three films in a row! Add in other great films he's done like this sequel (1995) and the remake of The Thomas Crown Affair (1999) and he really had an incredible decade plus.
George is pretty sharp with these things. One of the scripts pitched for this movie was John and Holly aboard a hijacked cruise ship... the producers rejected it but having Speed's director contractually approved a sequel they soon green-lit the premise to be used for Speed 2
What has four legs and is always ready to travel? - Is a dad joke riddle.. Elephant have 4 legs and a trunk, in the old days people had sturdy travelling trunks for their clothes and possessions.
I also think McTiernan is one of the greatest action directors of all time and think you guys would really enjoy The 13th Warrior. An overlooked but fantastic fantasy action movie with vikings based on a Michael Crichton book
Fun fact: the central fight in the Michael Crichton book (though not the rest of the novel obviously) is based on the eighth century epic poem “Beowulf.”
John McTiernan made both my two favorite movies Diehard and Predator. I’ve watch both at least 50x each over the years, both for one of the very reasons George mentioned. Both films showed flawed, reluctant, human heroes that got hurt, broken and bruised and barely survived in the end. Whether McTiernan is the greatest action movie director, I wouldn’t say that but he’s damn good.
This is definitely the second best in the franchise. The original is clearly better, but I actually like the fourth one a lot as well. I'm hoping you guys check that one out.
If you guys would like to see Jeremy Irons at the top his game do watch 2011's "Margin Call". It has a brilliant cast Paul Bettany, Stanley Tucci, Kevin Spacey, Demi Moore and Simon Baker but the few minutes Irons is on the screen you see what an amazing actor he is. I have met Jeremy twice 17 years apart, he is really cool and witty.
This is the best one in the franchise. I believe die hard 4.0 (live free or die hard) is worth watching. It’s not as good as 1 or 3 but imo I like it better than 2. I would skip die hard 5 ( a good day to die hard)
This was the first film I ever lied about my age to get into the cinema to see. I was 12 when this came out in the UK & it had a 15 rating (meaning you had to be 15). I went with my buddy, Andy, who had full adult stubble & was like 6ft by the age of 12. He got the tickets no problems then when we were going into the actual cinema itself there was a dude checking tickets. So I hand it over & he looks at me suspiciously then asks me how old I am. I said I was 15 & let's just say he didn't look convinced. So he asks me my birthday & I quickly say 22nd December 1979. Now this was the summer of 1995 & apparently the dude was not so good with calendar math because he says "that would make you 16" quick as a flash I replied "no, it's not December yet is it ?" Dude took a sec, thought about it, realised I was right & seemed to be so confused by the whole affair that he just let me in :D
No theaters (in the US) asked me my age throughout the ‘80s. I was shocked when I was denied a ticket for Robocop 2 at 14 years old. I just snuck in the back exit. Then I started buying a ticket for something else and jumping theaters. I couldn’t pass for 17 until I was 20.
Every details in this movies are so well done . One few people notice is the clue of there is no bomb in school , when Zeus gave the bomb to the fake cops , one insist to not let it in the street cause quote " a kid could find it " meaning that they dont planning on hurt any kid .
23:14 I like the tradition of having John get into a fistfight with someone who has him outmatched in skill or strength. It makes me want to root for him more than if his fights were an easy win for him. Certain action movie stars whose fights were usually very one sided almost came across more like bullies than heroes.
@@seanrosenau2088Seagal is highly trained, that combined with his ego means he would never be the underdog in a movie fight… even these days where he has his big gut CGI’d out, or he spends 90% of the movie sitting down 😂

Best. Thumbnail. Ever. And McTiernan was happy leaving the first movie to stand on its own, but then thought the second was bigger and better, so he came back to top the second movie, which he absolutely did.
I'm still puzzled at George always saying that McClane was more superhuman in the 2nd film. At least he was wearing a parachute in the scene in which he ejected from a plane as opposed to the huge drops & close-ranged explosions he was taking in this movie. In the "Honest Action" videos for this franchise by Screen Junkies, it was determined by medical experts that McClane would've only survived the entirety of the 2nd movie, while he would've died at the beginning of this film. As for which DH is the best, that still goes to the original for me. If you think about it, Simon's plan only failed b/c he involved McClane. The bomb threats were enough to pull off the heist, and he could've avenged his brother at a different time. The ending is also quite anticlimactic, likely b/c it was a replacement to the original script. Apparently, Gene Siskel & Roger Ebert thought that the 2nd film is the best of the franchise.
Yeah, I too thought that calling McClane 'superhero-ish' in Die Hard 2 was unfair and odd. The guy's absolutely wrecked by the end of the second film and looks just as beat up as he does in the first and third films. And that's not to mention that he totally fails to save that first plane from being crashed. McClane has lots of setbacks and personal failures in the second movie.
@@zufgh Every action scene in DH2 actually ends w/ a trade-off of the hero losing: no one was left to interrogate after the baggage fight, the antenna array explodes and a plane is crashed after the skywalk shootout, Esperanza escapes after landing, and McClane ends up w/ blank ammunition in the snowmobile chase. All leading up to the plane fight where John loses against Stuart, and it seems that all hope is lost for Holly's plane. That is until the protagonist utters his famous catchphrase.
The scene in "The Incredibles" where Fro-zone is confronted by a scared cop comes from the similar scene in this movie where Zeus is held at gunpoint in the subway.
Wiillis and Jackson had a real chemistry. Unfortunate that willis is going through what he is. Would have been awesome to have seen more movies with them. Also, the scale always increases with each movie.
The best of the series since the original. Bringing back DH1's director McTiernan was supergenius to put McClane through a massively challenging match with Gruber's baby bro. The second collaboration of Willis & Jackson (Oscar-nominated) following Pulp Fiction, Jeremy Irons after his performance as Scar in The original Lion King. The screenplay is bonkers with twists and turns. The camera work changes every now and then, like it's either a movie or feeling like a documentary based on certain angles. I've seen the alternate ending and it's a dark one. Like McClane really lost his mind and just went deadly on Simon. The marching song, "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" is perfect and on purpose. Not necessarily for the bad guys on screen. It's basically for John McClane back on his home turf of N.Y. At end of the day, it's a perfect 'Part 3' that could've been the final chapter.
Die Hard With A Vengeance is PHENOMENAL. There's just so much going on but it NEVER feels too overwhelming and it's editied FANTASTICALLY. It's RIGHT up there with part 1 for me.
IRC it was meant to be a script for a "Lethal Weapon" movie that was rework to fit the "Die Hard" franchise. We can still see the way it would have work for Gibson and Glover. A trully great action movie.
A pretty great reaction, but I'm kinda bummed you talked over the part where one of the henchmen shows Targo the piece of scrap metal, thereby missing set-up for the twist that Simon was going to keep the gold for himself all along, and just blow up a ship full of scrap. It's a great callback to the twist in the first Die Hard when we learn that Hans plans to blow up the roof of the Nakatomi building, making it look like everyone died in the explosion so he and his men could get away with the $640M in bearer bonds. It just goes to show that Simon is just like his brother, pretending to be a terrorist and opponent to Western capitalism as a 'smoke and mirrors' tactic to distract from the fact that he's really just a thief. As for the aspirin bottle, the sticker at the bottom of it had the name of the motel Simon and his crew were staying at. Some hotels and motels will put their names on stuff like aspirin bottles and matchbooks, which is how John figured out where to find them. Simon obviously brought the bottle with him from when he first stayed at the motel after first entering the country.
Something else that I think they missed: McClane gets them out of the handcuffs by pulling a splinter of the metal cable out of his shoulder with his teeth (ouch!) and Zeus uses it to pick the cuffs.
The water jug riddle is very fun. It can be solved multiple ways and it satisfying when you get it. Kids can do it if they spend a little time thinking about it. Probably not as fun if there is a bomb ticking down as you think.
I friggin' love this movie. To me this is a very close second best in the franchise. I absolutely love the dynamic between Willis and Jackson, I absolutely love Jeremy Irons, I friggin' adore the real New York location feel in the film. Incredible action classic.

In the school with the big bomb, having the kids sing: "Merrily merrily, merrily, merrily life is but a dream" is real sick gallows humor. ;) What would you sing, if you were sitting on a bomb?
Look up the alternate ending where following the vessel explosion, a now ex-cop McClane tracks Simon down in a coffee shop in Europe and challenges him to a game of Simon Says.
This movie is one of those rare instances where a sequel matches or outdoes the original. I love Die Hard, but I think this one is my favorite. After years of wondering and horrible explanations on the internet, thank you!
Conversely, you can also get to 4 gallons by doing it this way:
1) Fill the 5 gallon jug and dump it into the 3 (leaves 2 gallons in the 5 gallon jug).
My solution as well. It's all about getting that 1 gallon by itself. When you have that, it's fairly obvious on how to continue.
Takes less moves than that
Clever
Very interesting… but you’re wrong, this is better (jk to each their own)
@@eshuorishas9987 And this was just an original screenplay originally but they bought the script and retro fitted it into being a Die Hard movie.
Thank you, George, for leaving all of Simones flubs in the opening. She was hilarious and adorable.
yes she's great.
Oh yeah, I had to immediately jump back and watch again.
I hope fame doesn't spoil her.
It was soooo worth it.
Honestly, she probably just should have left it at "Hey everybody welcome to wait hoo hoo hoo hoo oh no"
One funny fact about this movie is that the heist was so well planned and plausible enough that the screenwriter got questioned by the fbi after the movie came out.
@@MrGBHtrue.
Although the filmmakers admitted there's no way to haul that much gold in 14 dump trucks.
Dang it, I wanted to be the one to share this fact
Also the psychiatrist is competent, correctly predicting the real name of the bad guy was Simon
Incompetent police is still realistic though. And by making it a cops vs Simon Gruber thing, it's no wonder why there are those who think that this is not really a Die Hard scenario movie where everything is stacked against McClane.
A 911 operator saying “this line is for emergencies only” in response to a frantic call about terrorists is not realistic
A cop saying a body with multiple gunshot wounds that fell out a window was just a stock broker who got depressed I’d not realistic.
(By the way, "Captain Kangaroo" was a 1950s kids TV show that ran for almost 30 years.)
The cop who plays his badge in the lottery and gets killed is actor Anthony Peck.
Cool. A really long comment that was actually useful and fun to read. Don't worry, I'm not being sarcastic I actually mean that.
LIke you said, movie making and Hollywood is a small World
Scripts gets bounced around, actors who're supposed to play this movie, ends up on this movie.
Jeromy Irons does sing in Lion King "Be Prepared"... He sings for the first part, but the ending verse he doesn't sing.
Oh wow cool. I never put that together. You're serving the good side of the internet 😂
Also don't forget to mention the name is due to their famous Papaya drink to go with your cheap dog to total a very conveniently inexpensive meal.

It also has the murderer of He-Man. The cry baby. The liar.
Agreed. The 4th one is worth watching just for Bruce and Justin's chemistry.
They can definitely quit after that one, though 😂

This was pitched as a stand alone action movie called "Simon Says". The studio decided to merge it into the Die Hard franchise.
That's basically all the Die Hard movies, honestly. Someone pitches a different script, they turn it into a Die Hard
@@Eidlones Yeah, I think the only script that was written for the franchise was the first; everything else started as something else. They should use that if they ever do a bunch of Die Hard “Pitch Meetings.”

I concur.
I just can't take anyone with this opinion seriously. You have to be trolling.

Fun Fact: the same fictional company Pacific Courier is present in both Die Hard and Speed, so they are in fact connected.
It’s not a fictional company.
Also, actual fictional companies being in multiple movies is usually just because they rented props from the same prop house.
The original and this one are the best of the franchise. Also, Simone's "F You, George" was hilarious
I love the first but I think this one is my favourite. The chemistry between Bruce Willis and Samuel L Jackson is amazing. Oh and I also vote for you to watch part 4.
I've come to the realisation that this is my fave Die Hard of the lot. It's perfect.
Please do 4 as well. I think it's super fun and personally my 3rd favorite in the franchise after 1 and 3.

I agree but with a caveat...the unrated version is closer to the R-rated Die Hard movies.

Best. Thumbnail.
I can't help but laugh: in the thumbnail for this, Simone's picture looks like the moody lead singer of some obscure 80s synth-pop band! 😂🤣👍

Charlie is a champ. The bomb might not have been real, but he thought it was and he stepped up.
The fact that the Incredibles references this movie by including their version of Zeus and the payphone scene is great to pick up on a rewatch!
Saw this on the big screen when it came out, was a ton of fun and still holds up fine today. Love your reaction to it =)
IRC it was meant to be a script for a "Lethal Weapon" movie that was rework to fit the "Die Hard" franchise.
The thumbnail for this is absolutely incredible! Love you guys and your reactions!
Oh man, I'm actually really excited for the next one! Just please let them watch the Unrated version!
Not necessary. It’s not the case where an R-rated version was cut down to PG-13. It’s a PG-13 movie with poorly edited in R-rated stuff to address complaints form some fans.
@@SuperDimson - Disagree. There are scene clearly filmed for R, and it was a matter highly discussed all along the movie's production. Either way, the Unrated version is better and more in line with the Die Hard franchise (where every other movie is Rated R...).
@@maximillianosaben I don't think having a bunch if "fuck" and "fucking" added in and a couple of blood squibs enchanced the movie at all compared to theatrical cut. The line he had after taking down the copter with a car was much worse in an unrated version.
@@SuperDimson - And I think it did enhance the movie. That's why I recommended it.
What's weird is that I never even saw Die Hard 1 & 2. But this movie was rerun twice a year on Swedish basic cable TV. So this was always my favorite Die Hard movie.
Please put The Last Boy Scout! on your list ❤ Bruce Willis at his all time best 👍
"Also did you notice the scar on her throat, thats probably why she doesnt speak" - George 26:14. I must have watched this move a thousand times when i was a kid and i never noticed the scar and its relation to her silent character. Nice spot George. Whats interesting is that girl is a pop star (Sam Philips), a singer, songwriter and was the composer and singer for backing music in 'The Gilmore Girls' TV show. Interesting that she is completely silent in this but a talented singer/composer IRL. Also Simone, best intro so far XD u 2 are fkn GEMS!
George always kills it: 'I'm kinda scared...and aroused.'
At the beginning, when McClaine is on the street wearing the sandwich board, the board was actually blank. The slogan is a special effect, added during post production.
This film put Samuel L Jackson on the map to the mainstream public that had not seen him in Pulp Fiction it definitely was my first introduction to him growing up.
At 10:35, this scene was referenced in THE INCREDIBLES, earlier in the movie when Luscious and Bob foiled a robbery.
Burr was right about the street numbers
Lives up to the original. Spectacular cast and action everywhere.
Also they changed the ending, in the orignial they succeed stealing the gold, and John finds SImon alone and kills him
The Waynes World intro was amazing! Live Free or Die Hard is my favorite.
Lol, she was so excited to do it🤣
When I left the theater after seeing this, I made my friend not leave the parking lot until I wrote out the 3 gallon/5 gallon riddle on paper and figure it out. Lol.
Also, surprised neither of you got the "trunk" riddle.
Grays Papaya is Hot dogs and fruit drinks, also good breakfast. I grew up nearby. There was never a phone there, which is my favorite.
My favourite Die hard film ever Bruce Willis, Samuel L Jackson and Jeremy Irons are just perfect IMO, could watch this film everyday love the reaction :)
Simone talking about wanting to be handcuffed....
George - "That's going to get clipped!" 😄
later, Simone "It's so sticky!"
George - Thinking ...("Also getting clipped!")
The scene at 10:49 look familiar? The Incredibles parodies it with the robbery scene with Frozone and Mr. Incredible. The cop is even drawn to look similar to the actor here.
Was specifically looking through the comments to see if anyone has pointed this out! One of my favourite fun movie facts - such a great idea from Pixar! I remember when I was first watching this movie old enough to recognise what the incredibles had done! Such a great feeling 😃
I was just about to write this very thing. Glad I'm not the only one who caught it.
Originally a Lethal Weapon script. I can't express how much I love this film. Its perfect. The script, the chemistry between Willis and Jackson. The references. New York being a character... the list goes on.
That gold bar would be worth $822,000 today (400 Troy ounces at $2,055/toz)
In 1995, gold was worth $387/toz, that bar was worth $154,800
Being a pawnshop owner, Zeus probably had the access to a crucible to melt it down into small untraceable ingots
You can smelt gold with a microwave oven and a rubbing stone.
I have very fond memories of sneaking into this movie at the theaters with my friends when I was a kid. I actually saw this one before I saw the original, so it’s still my favorite.
Perfect summer popcorn flick. Glad you guys liked it.
This was a really great flick. Part 4 (Live Free or Die Hard) is worth a watch, but make sure you watch the unrated version.
In the school with the big bomb, having the kids sing: "Merrily merrily, merrily, merrily
life is but a dream" is real sick gallows humor. ;)
What would you sing, if you were sitting on a bomb?
This is the best Die Hard movie, but the next one "4.0" is close (if you ask me), and I think nerdy George is gonna like it 🙂
Look up the alternate ending where following the vessel explosion, a now ex-cop McClane tracks Simon down in a coffee shop in Europe and challenges him to a game of Simon Says.
I agree this is the best film in the franchise, but I love the fourth film the most, probably because it was the first Die Hard film I saw.
Canadians shouting "what does that mean?!" when seeing "nord des lignes" :D
If you do the fourth movie, PLEASE PLEASE watch the unrated cut.
8:44 one of my favorite lines in the movie happens during the central park scene,
"Are you aming for these people!?"
"No...well maybe that mime" lol
This movie is one of those rare instances where a sequel matches or outdoes the original. I love Die Hard, but I think this one is my favorite. The chemistry between John and Zeus is great, Jeremy Irons is great villain, and if you told me that the song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" would make a good base for an action movie theme before this movie came out, i would have told you that you were crazy. But, damn, it works.
Breakdown of the elephant joke (from a Finn; Finland has no elephants, only cider whales, but they are another species) elephant are always ready to travel because, get this, they have a *trunk*.
John McTiernan definitely one of the best action directors there been. While McTiernan had some legal issues in the past, he's hugged the cactus long enough it's time he was allowed to return to making movies.
He's getting up there in years would love to see one more film from him
I love the 4th Die Hard “Die Hard: Live Free or Die Harder”. That was a really fun movie!!
You should definitely watch the 4th one. It’s quite over the top with action, more than 2, but set pieces are fantastic, it’s super fun, funny, and the general story is good. Don’t even think about watching the 5th one.
In Denmark, they chose the title. "Die Hard: Mega Hard" Which is clearly a superior title
Now due Die Hard 4, the last of the Die Hard movies.
That film was released in cinemas here in the Philippines titled as "Die Hard 3". When the movie made its national television debut some time later, it was titled "Die Hard 3: With a Vengeance"
Simone: "I would love to try something like this, like be handcuffed to some place..."
George: "Someone's going to clip that"
🤣🤣🤣
Simone's pretty young, we try not to sexualize her. (Bonus points if you get that reference.)
Regarding the radio in the cab they use to call into the station: If you know the frequency and the band, then you can talk. It wasn't encrypted back then.
The next movie is also quite good, not up to the level of 1 and 3, but still a worthy addition to the franchise. The last one, not so much.
16:22 this elevator scene needs the love that Captain America’s scene got.
