    Hey man I have a question why is my fuel dampers leaking from the top screws on both fuel rails.? Does that mean there bad.?

    How goes ya , like to say thank you for taking the time to make these videos!! Big UP'S! I messed with the screw ( like a common toolzack) how would I reset screw in proper spec position? Again thank you for sharing your knowledge!! Bless up!!

    Sir I have a 1999 sc400, and my damper failed causing gas to spew out the top, like a overwhelming amount. So I ordered the part but the new part is closed off rather than a screw. Can you inform me if that is a problem.

      Sure can. We towed the first one into the shop last night. Second one is booked in next couple of months. 3 sets on coils sitting on the shelf so I suspect theres a third one to be done. Cheers

    Hey mate. I’ve got a 1uz 4Runner that I drove through water “not deep, just probably to fast” which caused me to stall the vehicle & since then it hasn’t started unless I use Aerostart. What could the issue be? It gets fuel to the rail & has spark

    Im having trouble finding the special slotted crush washer that sits right below the dampener. Does anyone have a part # or website that could help me get my hands on a suitable washer (in canada) I recently had fuel rail apart and reused that washer but replaced all the other "standard" washers. It is sweating/leaking from that one now.

    What causes the small screw to pop out of the Damper

      Generally the screw pops out due to someone screwing it when its not meant to be screwed. If it does come right out from the unit its time to replace the dampener

    I was under the impression that the injectors opening and closing was causing the pulsations on the fuel rail and not the pump itself

    Hi,Yet another great video...I am planning a conversion into a Hilux Surf, Can you do a video or give me a pointer on the fuel supply? Pumps, filters, lines????Love your videos... Keep up the great work!

      We touched on the fuel pump in the hilux preparation video with that one being v6. There is vvti fuel pump stuff in the supra video coming up and I have more fuel pump coming up with next few conversions. Theres a hiace soon which ill try to do fuel pump footage which same principles stand for hilux. Ill also put specific fuel pump on list for later in the year. Cheers

    Does the 95-97 gen 2 1uz non vvti use a dampener like this? Having the different style rail. Good video love the channel 👍

    What about using 2 dampeners when using a hi flow pump? I have 1gz-fe v12 with an aem pump and aem fuel pressure regulator and have a lot of pulse with just the oem dampener 🤔

      We would generally head towards an aftermarket unit.

    Hi there, is it possible to do a video on fuel lock? I have a 1991 Land Cruiser with the Gen1 1UZFE engine. The fuel pump is screaming crazy after some time of driving. Although I do not notice any other issues, the pump is very noisy on hot summer days. I suspect it is a fuel lock or fuel vapor problem...hope you can give me some pointers?       @@clintonscholtz213 so I rarely run a external pump, instead I prefer internal. Most external fuel pump is not designed to "suck" fuel from the tank so the extra time setting up a lift pump which is designed to draw fuel and deliver into a surge tank which provides a head of fuel to the high pressure pump seems pointless in most normal swaps. In high performance settings its appropriate. I see lots of guys with failures due to fitting an external pump incorrectly then suffering noisey pumps or prematurely failed pumps. So if I do a video on external pumps its likely going to be how to throw a poorly designed system away and do it property.

    Is it possible for these to click or tick quite loudly? On my Cammed 1uz, I thought it was a shim, but the guy who put the cams in adjusted all shims. Listening with a screw driver, the loud ticking seemed to be the fuel dampener.

      Sure can. They can make quite a noise but this is generally with bigger fuel pumps and aftermarket ecu with different injectors. Cheers

      Stock ecu, pump and injectors. Cams and shims just done there. Trying to find a bloody harmonic balancer/crankshaft damper. But no one lists the correct models for the part numbers on toyodiy

    Hey sir. I have a stock 92 sc400 w 103k miles. She has a long cold start, crank for 5-6 seconds when cold... Then no further issue after car is warm, turns right over. Suggestions? Thank you.

      Ive been meaning to do the cold start injector circuit on the SC400 and soarer cars. I would check this , along with ECU health (I often service as maintenance these days) , confirm fuel flow and even the basics like spark plugs , coils and leads. Also the EFI temp sensor could have an effect. Cheers Kelvin

      Hello. I would not expect this to cause a low idle issue. Chances are very low. if the screw pops up and it isnt leaking generally they are ok. Cheers Kelvin

    Can these fail? If so how often and with what synptoms? My 93 SC400 dampener mustve been replaced as it has no screw. Having a hard time getting my old girl running. Thanks Kelvin

    Would a bad unit cause the engine to cut on and off and stall out?. My 96 ls won't idle and will die but if i put it in gear it will hold idle but idle will drop as if the car turned off but will idle back again

      @@CartuneNZ can you do one on wiring a 1KZTE to A343F 😎 still trying to find suitable connectors to use for the job. Wanna do it once and correct. Not gonna settle for rubbish. What is the connector type you use? Think I need a 12pin and upward connector for all the transfer switching

      That would require me to work on a Diesel, haha. Sorry I don't have any booked in at the moment but if one comes in Ill think of you. I use Deutsch connectors as a preference. For small amperage DTM work great but I'm not sure how you will go about finding these in Africa. Otherwise dont run a connector and splice the joins as I know finding parts over there is tricky.       @@CartuneNZ splice is just crimping. I have researched and they say a plain crimp is better than a solder because the solder degrades and an cause dry joints. Getting tips from the expert here. Cheers

      Yep, splice and crimp can be interchanged. I prefer to use crimps and if its old wire I might grab my soldering iron. Most factory looms are crimped but they all start with new wire. Most important is the wires are joined in a strong fashion. Cheers

    Thanks for explaining this. I just replaced a starter on a Tundra 4.7 and wondered if that funky washer was absolutely necessary. Apparently it is. Unfortunately, I will have to wait until tomorrow to call the Toyota dealer. Cheers.

    Great video thanks for sharing unfortunately on my 2004 Jeep grand Cherokee the damper is not serviceable I have to buy the fuel rail that comes with damper. 😢

    Mine just went bad purchased a new one from the auto parts store to put on and no screw at the top. When I asked my mechanic I use for more difficult projects he said they don’t put them on new ones because they aren’t needed

      Yep. Some aftermarket ones dont have the screw. The screw is nice to see of the pressure has come up but doesnt really have any other function. Cheers Kelvin

      I keep them in stock so no idea where else to get them unless you have a dealer close by, otherwise make one.

    I have an sc400, started ticking and some say it could be a bad dampener, is there a way to test them?

      if its making noise then I would replace. Otherwise checking fuel pressure with a sensitive gauge. Cheers kelvin

    Having fuel cutting when I apply more than 1/4 throttle on my 1uz swapped 1993 4Runner was wondering where I should check first I had my ecu capacitors replaced and replaced my fuel filter to see if that would help my issue

      I would be confirming the wiring is correct as per my instruction sheets and then doing all the normal checking. There are also different issue depending on model and ecu. Cheers Kelvin

      @@CartuneNZ I did heeps of trouble shooting. I’ve watched a bunch of videos you’ve made and still can’t quite get it. Checked tps it’s performing the calibration check with the test light perfect . wiring at the iac wiring is good according to your information. Also replaced fuel pump and a bent fuel line to know changes. I am getting spark on both coils and made sure ignitors are grounded. Power is present at b+ with ignition on. Cam sensors were checked by unplugging one at a time and ohm the crank sensor and it was in spec. Grounds cleaned. And added one just to be safe. I’ve checked for vacuum leaks around the intake and no change. I’ve yet to spray engine start while trying to rev to see if it will rev up at all. Currently any blip of the throttle bogs it down. It’s a 91 ls400 gen 1 1uz mated to a automatic transmission that I have put into my brothers 93 4Runner the wiring was done by north west toys but I’m almost positive that it’s not a wiring issue on there end of things since it ran and drove for a month after the wiring was routed. I would love to send you a video of it running to hear your thoughts. Josh from relentless has been pretty helpful in helping checking things I wouldn’t have before definitely learning more about the brothers 1uz then my turbo Miata hahahah I love the knowledge you bring to the table I appreciate guys like you that have this knowledge and share it publicly. i will check your wiring instructions once I’m stumped on checking everything else and come down to only possible thing being the wiring

    Great video. There's not much info on this little pain in the ass. My 01 is300 developed a fairly loud tick. Check valve lash and its perfect in spec. Used a stethoscope and found injectors are the noise. Order a damper. Fingers crossed she'll quiet down!

      @@CartuneNZ unfortunately the injectors are still loud. I ordered two new up stream o2 sensors. Densos. I'm also going to try changing the regulator on the pump itself. Otherwise I'm at a loss

    What is used to retain the dampener, but delete the banjo for a barb fitting or someway to run different lines to it?

      You can get proflow banjo fittings to retain the dampener and use an style fittings. I did this to my conversion. As I had to use proflow ( Teflon I think ( hose for e85 alcohol. Hope this helps

      Lots of options. We have access to some aftermarket banjos where we can sweat on a AN fitting or different push hose. Or screw in fitting and run inline dampener. Plenty of choices. I'm sure speed shops in the US would stock some suitable fittings. Cheers

    So when one has gone bad, would my engine be making many small clicking or tapping noises that is annoying as hell? Almost like rapid lifter tap but not near as loud?
