Yes, I liked Dealer and Thunder the most! I’m disappointed that her album with The Last Shadow Puppets was never released... Who knows how many gems we lost.
Not gonna lie, I'm surprised Dealer didn't click for you. When I heard it I immediately thought it was the type of song you'd adore haha. It's my personal fave btw
Every Lana song gets better every time you listen to them, every! that's why she's special, that's why born to die is making history to this day, that's why she is so popular even though she doesn't promote her music
"Thunder" is a masterpiece in every respect, but the original demo version is even better! It's just so breathtaking regardless of the production and the lyrics are flawless. It's the BEST
I’m going to recommend everyone who loves Thunder go listen to the tour version, it’s edited but if she ever makes it to perform this album live that’s the best way to do it. The person mixing them is a genius.
You are legitimately one of the best reviewers of this website. Your videos feel like simultaneously a chill out hang with a friend, a music lesson AND a warm hug. Unbelievable.
Honestly, I feel like Black Bathing Suit is her talking about the scrutiny she's gotten for her "weight gain" and all the awful things she's been called by people for it. If you listen, she says, "the only thing that still fits me is this black bathing suit." And her voice in the end sounds so hurt and powerful at the same time. I'm absolutely obsessed with the song. It's so complex and vulnerable and different.
@@abhiram6536 eh honestly in comment sections and on twitter they are genuinely horrible, people making really horrible tiktoks about her being 'ugly' and 'fat' but if u dont look for it you wont find it so it makes sense
BB is definitely one of those albums where you have to know the backstory behind it to get the full experience. She was leaving Jack Antonoff as her producer so she wanted to have her own signature grandiose sound but she was also sonically experimenting. She was dealing with her breakup with Sean Larkin and then getting engaged to Clayton Johnson and splitting up so she must've had a few things to say about those guys. And she wanted to clap back to her critics that attacked her for how she portrays her relationships and her romances. Also some of the songs were very popular unreleased records that she remastered for this album and I'd like to believe that she did this because she knew how fans love those records and she was once serious about releasing a huge record of her unreleased songs. So when you take all of this into consideration you can understand how beautifully chaotic this album turned out to be.
I think OG fans love Dealer because the raw, imperfect vocal delivery make us nostalgic for Lana’s earlier, experimental live performances like Off to the Races, Born to Die, and Blue Jeans where she just lets loose and goes crazy.
It's funny that you brought up how the production on "Nectar of the Gods" would've been different on past records because it WAS originally written and recorded for Ultraviolence! The songs "If You Lie Next to Me", "Living Legend", and "Cherry Blossom" were also reworked material from that album era. She said that this album was intended for a lot of her critics, so it makes sense that she revisited a lot of songs from that time in her life where the internet scrutiny around her was seemingly at its peak.
if you lie down with me, nectar of the gods, living legend and cherry blossom are all ultraviolence outtakes recorded in 2013. also dealer and thunder have uv vibes thanks to the last shadow puppets collaboration
Chemtrails fell a little flat for me so... I'm so happy that this album came out so soon after and it's exactly what I wanted. She's serving quite a bit of Lizzy Grant and I'm living for it.
Honestly same I wanted to like Chemtrails but it fell short for me too. And when she dropped this album, I didn’t listen to it until yesterday because I thought it’d sound like her older work but god I was wrong this album is everything
the minimalism is genius. very similar to frank ocean. when you have the voice and the lyrical talent, the stripped production ends up added more to the music rather than taking away
Very similar to Honeymoon in that sense. I remember Lana called it a “vanity record” at the time because it was much more focuses on almost just her vocals rather than being very heavy on production like Born to Die and Ultraviolence.
The interlude does make sense to me. It sounds like she is angry and with the hip hop that she always loved but then by the end it fades to just drums (more acoustic) hence commencing a different chapter in the album followed by Black Bathing Suit a subtle reaction to her critiques
I’ve listened a few times now and this album definitely grows and becomes more rewarding with every listen. I feel this is her most honest work though many will probably find it jarring in relation to her other albums. 💖

I thought he'd enjoy this album a lot more. Not that I'm disappointed, just left with a completely different impression of BB, enjoying the "odd" songs a lot - maybe even more than the most simple ones. Also, at least 4 of the songs were recorded for older albums (much older, like Ultraviolence, for instance) and the demos sounded almost exactly the same. So, no, the songs wouldn't have had a bigger production in certain parts, they were really meant to sound the way they do.
Sweet Carolina is my favorite track, reminds me a lot of beautiful moments with my family and friends, what true love means, just living the moment with your people, it makes me so emotional to think that Lana is in a better place right now because after all of her ups and downs she’s finally in peace with her life and the people around her, the true love, so well deserved ❤️🩹
This album is so different from all her previous albums and she chose the unreleased ones perfectly they fit to the album so much Definitely better than cocc and thanks Jon for being such an understanding Lana fan when I first listened to black bathing suit I was sure you'd like it you really get it❤️
i’m honestly glad that she went different from NFR and Chemtrails, i loved both the production. but it’s nice to see Lana move forward with a different sound
Whew. Where does one begin? I sobbed on my first listen. This album is personal and raw. Dealer and Black Bathing Suit are my favorite thus far. After dropping NFR, then Chemtrails, one wonders what she will do next.. then she comes out with this perfect, sentimental body of work.
it's interesting to see how thunder has progressed as it was originally created during ultraviolence era, the unreleased version's production and instrumentals are so different from this new one and i think it just shows how she's grew and how her sound has changed! dealer is my favourite! ive loved cherry blossom, thunder and nectar because they were some of my favourite unreleased of hers. i enjoyed black bathing suit and wildflower wildifire the most as new songs. definitely a more personal album and though i wished for some more instrumentals, i find myself loving each song more with every listen!
It's really interesting how many of the songs are from 2013-2014, Nectar of the Gods and Cherry Blossom are both outtakes from the Ultraviolence sessions. Overall this album is so tender and delicate. It feels like she is really wanting to connect with us on this record. She said this album would tell her story, and I think it does. And what's interesting to me is she hyped it up as a response to the critics, but she doesn't really fixate on the negative press attention she's received in the way that, say, Taylor Swift did on Reputation. It isn't really about clapping back at her critics, there are only a couple of places in the lyrics where she references it (in Arcadia and Black Bathing Suit). Instead she's just intent on telling her story, perhaps more directly than ever before. And in a way she's proving the critics wrong by doing that, because people have accused her for a long time of being 'inauthentic' (whatever that means) and this record is probably the most 'authentic' and the most nakedly honest she's ever made.
Living Legend and Cherry Blossom are the most beautiful tracks she has ever written. They make me so sad in a happy way..I just can’t explain the feeling she makes me feel with her music.
Blue Banisters, Beautiful, Thunder, Sweet Carolina, and especially Cherry Blossom were my favorites. Great album to listen front to back while driving.
I loved your reactions, especially to black bathing suit. It is a challenging song and I had such a similar reaction. Lana never disappoints honestly I found Arcadia boring on first listen until it was stuck in my head for three days. Also super surprised and (also made me lol) that you didn’t like Dealer. Definitely give it another chance. I guess I was ready for it because she mentioned this song months ago and said she “screamed her head off” in it. I love her different vocal styles and raw emotion Such a masterpiece
Im was so happy to see you did this reaction! To me chemtrails was little bit of a let down. I think this album is her best work. You can feel the balance between giving her fans what they want and the styles she enjoys. Such a tug of war and so powerful considering she left social media .
I felt this album on my soul on my bones! Dealer, Acadia, Thunder are magnificent. I’m getting Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino By AM vibes almost. Can we please get Lana and Alex in a song pls.
I am a big Lana fan and this was the most underwhelmed I’ve been on a first listen to one of her albums since honeymoon. Thankfully I had a four hour train journey to take home today and I listened to this album the whole way and never has an album grown on me quicker
I don't get why people are going nuts over this album. It's just merely "okay" if that... Most of the songs are just completely boring and drag on (akin to listening to some doom metal albums). It lacks the emotion, hope and seems to be pretentious at times. Chemtrails has better song writing and song structure in my opinion, and there will be nothing that beats NFR or Ultraviolence... Idk, maybe it will grow on me, but I doubt it...
@@b.entranceperium ultraviolence and nfr are two of my favourite albums from any artist ever I don’t expect her to even equal them again never mind top them. I think she’s always been a bit pretentious in her song writing but that’s part of why I like her. I’m enjoying this album much more than chemtrails but hey to each their own
@@seanfitz1001 I understand music is subjective, but how in the HELL can you like this better than Chemtrails?!?😅 I'm a pretty decent LDR fan, and this album is the only time I skipped songs (besides on Lust for Life and Honeymoon). "Dealer" is actually unlistenable...
@@b.entranceperium I think that this album has higher high points than chemtrails which is why I prefer it at the moment and I’m also not that big of a fan of the last three songs on chemtrails I usually stop listening after Yosemite but hey that might change and I’ll agree with you about dealer it’s terrible and whoever the male singer sucks as well
@@matteorusso6271 completely agree !! bb, then uv and nfr 3rd for me. I understand why for many nfr is the best but I don't get why they can't comprehend other people preferring her other albums.
I feel like this is such a mature album for Lana, lyrically and vocally , but the instrumentals show the chaos that will always be apart of her. How some of the songs change up in tempo and go back and forth from fast to slow, but her lyrics are so profound. That's her. She's just wild. And it's so beautiful
I think I read a while back that several songs on the album were initially written for ultraviolence. I imagine the production on them would have been more similar to what we saw on that album if she's recorded them back then.
Arcadia is so emotional for me. It’s actually my hometown in California. The Hilton that she sings about, sits where my old house was right across from the train tracks in the video that say ARCADIA. Those are tracks. She nailed the nostalgia I actually feel for my hometown that I left at 23. It’s wild every time I hear it….it hurts in the best way.
please please listen to the very first ever version of thunder! also i’m pretty sure some tracks were meant for an album her, miles kane, and alex turner worked out which explains why miles kane had such a big part on dealer and which explains why thunder literally screams alex turner/ the last shadow puppets
Thank you for appreciating music that means so much to certain people. Lana stans will love you forever, so often people don’t see the magic we see, but you do. Thank you. Honestly. ❤️
I am not mad at all that like one third of the songs in this album are actually unreleased songs. I know they have been leaked but I also believe her unreleased songs are beautiful and deserves to be recognized. Tbh, out of all of them, Cherry Blossom is the only song I've heard before and not gonna lie I've always wish she would release it. Then months before the release I learned Nectar of the Gods, Living Legend, Dealer has been leaked before too. And listening to them now made me grateful she released them.
I’m so thankful to have a reactor truly dissect Lana’s music in the way that it needs to be. Most listeners just take it at face value, but you seem to find the deeper, and more complex meaning.
Not even close to NFR, but still an amazing album, close to Chemtrails I would say. Me being Lana fanboy will listen to this album like 20 more times in the following 3/4 days. Also, first half of the album completely different than the second, due to unreleased songs being recorded much before. 8/10 on a Lana scale :D Jon, love you, but you are allowed to say that you don't like certain track
I feel like the content all of her albums up to this point has been telling stories but this is truly about her, this is the closest we've ever gotten to knowing her I think.
just so you know if you lie down with me, nectar of the gods, living legend and cherry blossom were all recorded during the ultraviolence sessions but didn’t make their way onto the album. These weren’t re-recorded from 2013, I love them so much.
A STUNNING reaction! Thank you for understanding the conceptual side of the album! About Cherry Blossom which always makes me cry, I reckon that in times when she recorded it it was kind of a conversation to a younger her but now after thoughts and desires for her own children it feels like a lullaby for her future kids. And this makes me so tearful like she lets us to be a part of her family. This is her most personal album.
I've been listening for a while now. It's definitely a grower. It's majestic really. For me it'll stay along NFR, UV, HM as one of her best work. I absolutely love every single layer of it ♡

*COCC*
I just finished listening to the album and open RUclips and this is the first video at the top 🙌🏽
i’m honestly glad that she went different from NFR and Chemtrails, i loved both the production. but it’s nice to see Lana move forward with a different sound
Honestly, dealer is the best track on the album. it's pure raw emotions. I wish people didn't slept on it
Sweet Carolina is for her sister. It was also co-written by her sister and father.
I am in love with the album. The whole damn thing. I’ve been listening all day
My favorites are Nectar of the Gods and Living Legend.
We are so lucky to have people like you who actually understand Lana ugh
This album is honestly just 🥵
Excuse me?
@@filipanusic625 ?
Rude
@@filipanusic625 I don’t get it??? Im complementing the album??
@@filipanusic625 right
It's really interesting how many of the songs are from 2013-2014, Nectar of the Gods and Cherry Blossom are both outtakes from the Ultraviolence sessions.
Thunder is a masterpiece
Just finished listening this album and came to your channel to see your reaction
Always one of the first with the Lana reactions 🙃 the best
@vica... 💕💕 Why thank you, rlly appreciate the hentai 💀💀😭
Nfr made me fall back in love with her music since ultraviolence.. this album just solidified it
La reseña que toda Latinoamérica unida esperaba ❤️❤️
Ay siiiii !!!!
Sí, re contra sí!!
sí
confirmo
QUÉ HERMOSO que haya gente de latinoamerica viendo este tipo de videos. 🥺🥰
Blue Banisters, Beautiful, Thunder, Sweet Carolina, and especially Cherry Blossom were my favorites. Great album to listen front to back while driving.
I loved your reactions, especially to black bathing suit. It is a challenging song and I had such a similar reaction. Lana never disappoints honestly
I found Arcadia boring on first listen until it was stuck in my head for three days.
Also super surprised and (also made me lol) that you didn’t like Dealer. Definitely give it another chance. I guess I was ready for it because she mentioned this song months ago and said she “screamed her head off” in it. I love her different vocal styles and raw emotion
Such a masterpiece
Same.same.same
I don't get why people are going nuts over this album.
I’m enjoying this album much more than chemtrails but hey to each their own
@@seanfitz1001 I understand music is subjective, but how in the HELL can you like this better than Chemtrails?!?😅
I'm a pretty decent LDR fan, and this album is the only time I skipped songs (besides on Lust for Life and Honeymoon). "Dealer" is actually unlistenable...
@@b.entranceperium I think that this album has higher high points than chemtrails which is why I prefer it at the moment and I’m also not that big of a fan of the last three songs on chemtrails I usually stop listening after Yosemite but hey that might change and I’ll agree with you about dealer it’s terrible and whoever the male singer sucks as well
Honestly this album completely blew me away. I thought Ultraviolence Lana was gone but she is still here.
Absolutely beautiful
Her best album for sure, i love it
After NFR.
@@emin5488 nope is 3rd in my ranking
Is NFR! wbk
@@jens2049 i dont feel contected to it
@@matteorusso6271 completely agree !! bb, then uv and nfr 3rd for me.
I've waited for this reaction since the album came out.🙌
You waited 3 hours?
@@brandoncordy733 yes
@vica... 💕💕 Wtf
Lana’s 2nd best after NFR!, I thought the highs were sky high on NFR but this album was amazing as well and thats just on the first listen
Been waiting for this reaction all day. Thank you
this album is definitely very intense and deep. only after some listens i started to understand and connect with it and i LOVE it 💙💙
2nd! I agree this album needs times. It grows on every listen
It’s wild every time I hear it….it hurts in the best way.
such a bop, love your reactionssss
The guitar bridge on Living Legend is actually Lana's voice through a vocoder
Jon... you do be the fastest, thankfully, the greatest too. Much love, brother
I like how he finished the whole album and I'm sitting here, still processing interlude the trio
this album has so much nuance and since it spans her entire life we will have to listen to it again and again to enjoy and grasp it
please please listen to the very first ever version of thunder! also i’m pretty sure some tracks were meant for an album her, miles kane, and alex turner worked out which explains why miles kane had such a big part on dealer and which explains why thunder literally screams alex turner/ the last shadow puppets
been waiting for this❤ Dealer is my fav ❤❤❤
omg nooooo i really thought you would like dealer, i was so excited for this reaction for that exactly 😭😭
Thank you for appreciating music that means so much to certain people. Lana stans will love you forever, so often people don’t see the magic we see, but you do. Thank you. Honestly. ❤️
This album touches a part of my soul nothing else has
I am not mad at all that like one third of the songs in this album are actually unreleased songs.
Tbf, her unreleased collection is a treasure trove of bangers
Exactly this, I'm so happy Thunder got officially released and now more people can appreciate it.
I've been waiting for this video so
It reminds me of her very first album "Sirens"
I'm always waiting for your reactions, because we feel Lana's songs in the same way!
Oh man, thanks for being so quick on making this vid
The 'riot girl screaming' comment on the " black bathing suit" track😁😁lol I love it!
I DONT WANNA LIIIIIIVEEEEEEE , dealer is definitely my favorite song on the album
just so you know if you lie down with me, nectar of the gods, living legend and cherry blossom were all recorded during the ultraviolence sessions but didn’t make their way onto the album. These weren’t re-recorded from 2013, I love them so much.
The thing with Dealer is you either love it or you don't. I personally love the song, but I can understand if it's not for you.
Masterpiece, probably the best álbum on Lana Del Rey's career.
We said that about all of her albums
@@charmedprince except for cocc because there was Nfr before it, hard to tol that, this comes pretty close to NFR though (for me at least.
Wildfire wildflower is one of my favorite lana songs ! 🔥🌻
My favs are Thunder, Living Legend, Black Bathing Suit
I've been listening for a while now. It's definitely a grower. It's majestic really. For me it'll stay along NFR, UV, HM as one of her best work. I absolutely love every single layer of it ♡
OMG!! I was waiting for this!!!♥️♥️♥️
