I should mention that I'm not a run an gun sort of guy, more dash and die but still enjoy playing. BF 2 was my fav because you had a general that could direct squads.
You reminded me of an old geezer I used to play BF3 with. His name had Shellshock or something in it and he loved running Support. Whenever you needed ammo he was there and I loved hearing him cuss out the enemy lol! Haven’t spoken to him in a long time, hoping he’s doing well
Its good to see someone still going after the hard issues of this game, instead of just saying 'its good now, needs battleroyal' ala Levelcap. Honestly he's become a complete detriment to the battlefield community too because DICE actually listen to him, and he too doesn't understand what the community actually wants. Anyways, good video keep it up.
I was so hype for a new modern setting battlefield after bf1 and bf5 that I even bought the 90€ version of the game. In my mind there was no way that they could make a game worse than all the previous ones. My mistake was buying a game based on the previous entries in the franchise and not critically looking at the actual game in question. Dice has lost my respect so I will not be making that mistake twice.
This really hit me with nostalgia. I remember when I used to come home from school, fire up my 360 and play BF4 for HOURS with my friends. Crazy how we used to HATE siege of Shanghai with the tower down; crazy how even with the tower down is better than all the maps on 2042. We still play BF4 to this day almost 10 years later. Crazy how the mighty have fallen
I don't understand how we went from battlefield 1 and modern warfare 2019 to what we have now. Those two games were monumental in terms of attention to detail and the obvious passion and care that went into them. It's like nostalgia but for a time that was only a few years ago.
In terms of its aesthetic and detail, MW19 was the definition of a lifelike and beautiful fps. However they kind of flopped on the gameplay side of things, they focused way too much on realism and looks.
Battlefield 1 was gorgeous and sounded phenomenal, but lord it was a mess of a game. So many terrible mechanics (Elite pickups, Behemoths, gas grenade (spam), "sweet spot", random bullet deviation, the list just goes on and on). The perfect Battlefield would've been BFV's "oldschool/hardcore" elements (no-nonsense gunplay, limited ammo, more reliance on squadplay/teamwork) paired with BF1's visuals/atmosphere. It's just a shame we never got that.
@@Chubzdoomer It definitely wasn't a mess of a game, especially compared to BFV that we got after. BF1 got too heavy with explosive spam but otherwise plays really well. The elite pickups and behemoths are not for everyone but they're a part of what makes the game unique. I thought they were fun and original additions to the game and was kinda bummed out that huge war vehicles did not return in BFV. It was the peak of the newer Battlefield releases.
BF1 is one of most immersive fps out on the market. I love maps and voice acting for it. For sure it has its problems but they nailed WW1 fps vibe in that one.
yeah after playing the beta of 2042 i went and bought vanguard since it was 100% impossible for CoD to produce a game thats worse than what i played in the beta. (for explanation, i enjoyed the shit out of MW2019, so seeing its playstyle/gameplay return was a positive for me.) what killed vanguard for me tho was the absolutely fucking insane time it took to get a single gun to gold-status, and the fact that about 85% of the attachments were just useless bullshit like in BO:CW so you had to play with shitty attachments forever until you finally got a properly set up gun, at wihich point i was tired of playing said gun. in MW2019 i could gold a gun in 3 days at average, it took me way over a month to get the golden MG42 and when it was gold i was already max level. fucking stupid imo.
@@Sixstringman Are you serious? The netcode issue and countless bugs of BF4 on launch were terrible, made the game barely playable but at least it was playable unlike 2042.
This video hit the nail on the head. I would also add that most of the battle pass and MTX cosmetics are ugly so it’s kind of a double fail lol. Also, yeah, apparently DICE thinks thermal and night vision will be gone in the year 2042 but replaced by no new technology… or they just rushed the game or are too lazy and didn’t put it in.
The worst thing of all of this is, everybody knows they are not really trying to fix the game because they are really looking forward to pulling the plug as soon as Season 4 ends. There is no future so there is no reason in "fixing" it. The current Dice couldn't fix shit to begin with, but we all know they aren't even trying.

If they now serve me an uncooked patty and a tiny bit of wallmart sauce, yes, it _is_ better than before, but it is still not good in the slightest and not what was advertised and bought.
how difficult can it be to design a BF game when there are countless predecessors from your own company?! just unbelievable how DICE forgot it. these will be sad years as a BF fan until maybe a hopefully good game will come out..
takes humans to make a game. when using different human; you get different vision of game. don't blame the company. blame the designers who are no longer from the same team; 10 years ago.
Uh. cause some of the developers who made the previous games left? Being a dice employee doesn't pay well as a long term occupation that is one factor that can affect their new games.
They didn’t forget because the data is there they say the same thing with Madden. We don’t have the data for the old madden so we had to make a new one and make it worse
My God, the aim snap bug...I didn't even know this was a thing... This happened/happens to me so often, I always genuinely thought there was just something wrong with my controller lol 🤣🤣
i will always make the argument that teamplay in videogames have always been an issue. there are plenty of times when you would ask for help and nobody answers. however, this can only get worse when everyone can take care of themselves and nobody has a reason to ask for help in the first place.
That's the sad thing with 2042, you don't know who to get help from. In previous battlefields, you KNEW who to go to for ammo, or who to heal you. You'd run up to them, ask for ammo and they'd give it. It meant you actually needed medics on field to revive you. Now everyone can resupply, everyone can revive. It's BS. Not BF... BS.
in bf4 i got quite pally with a team mate. we would both play engineer class and concentrate on keeping enemy aircraft out of the skies! alot of the time, just hearing that lock on sound would cause a chopper to take cover. while its taking cover, its not bothering our players! obviously same applied to land vehicles too. soon as they heard that lock on sound, they would rush to break line of sight. they hate having the multiple kill machines destroyed!
just another reason why 2042 doesn't embody the traditional spirit of past Battlefields, it was designed as a competitor to Warzone instead of a genuine entry of the BF series, sad for all of us BF veterans it definitely seems aimed at bringing in a different audience
Honestly i prefer the new system, i can heal and revive people i can give them and myself amo, or i can have amo and a launcher. If your not reviving your team mate and your a revive class then your just not good at using your class. Its just more customisation with is generally better
Dog they literally fixed this issue in Hardline by having friendly players be able to run up to a medic or support and just press the interact button to grab ammo and health off them. I have no idea why they never brought this feature back. Too many blind/deaf medics and supports out there.
You know this just struck me…. Maybe when dice named the game battlefield 2042 it wasn’t referencing futuristic warfare but rather dice was preemptively telling its player base this game won’t be ready until 2042 and none of us caught it

This is really strange. I've never experienced or even HEARD of some of these bugs, but my favorite that I have gotten so far is the "I know you're holding M1 but Im gonna simulate a jam and just stop firing for a split second" bug.
The game devs who made thisngame are so bad that every platform that game is on has different bugs and glitches. Tells you how garbage it is to send your game to 3rd party dev who dont know jack shit about making mulyiplayer fps game like BF. FFS the original game was not even a BF game to begin with, they try to slap a filter or game mod over that game and try to turn it into BF game is insanity.
Same here. I never encountered some these bugs. And the rubber banding bug is gone for me after the update in S1. Probably it might be an isolated case for him. But definitely there ARE still bugs. Like the delayed grenade throw, and the newest one in the Avancis were you will notice a delay on continuous fire.
Yea thats kinda the thing though, Frostbyte always had bugs that some people would get and others wouldn't alongside the common ones. This varies from platform to platform. After BF3 is started to slowly get worse, This game is like a showpiece of what not to do in game dev and for a franchise but also the Engine its self. 2042 is battlefield and Frostbyte at its absolute worse with the worst parts of every entry dialed up 10 fold.I didn't get his bugs that he mentioned but I get entirely other ones that are equally game breaking.
You're telling me you never ran into the hit registration bug? Emptying a whole clip on a dude for him to kill me made me instant uninstall. Shame I'll never get that £100 worth of 'ultimate edition'
I only bought it the other day from John Lewis for £17. I honestly wouldn't have paid any more than that having played it for about 5 hours. It's fun at times but in all honesty the most satisfaction I've had is spending the entire game in the passenger seat of a vtol with the repair torch. That's basically what I resort to as I struggle to feel like I'm having any impact on matches.
Thank you! Finally someone else agrees this hero shooter should’ve just been done as a BF Heroes remake. A game that already had a cash shop and all the things they wanted here without being shoved in a mainline title.
Battlefield series has been on a downward descent for a few years now. Think they were so keen on chasing trends that they kinda forgot the fact that the older Battlefield players might not like the changes that they are making that much. I think next Battlefield game is the breaking point and if that game is anything like Battlefield 2042 the game series might be done for a while. I still remember how awful all assault rifles were in the beginning and the endless running between the wide maps with nothing much going on between the control points on those maps.
This is not true as battlefield V was literally the best battlefield. Best movement. Environments solider customization the only reason people didn’t give it a chance was because of the shitty trailer with the female solider with a metal arm ( which wasn’t even in the game)
@@nicksantana93 the game was broken af on launch and had the shitty premise amongst other issues, one of if not the worst selling in series says it all

I completely agree with everything you said. As a longtime battlefield fan I was stupid enough to preorder this game because I was so hyped. However, I quickly realized how bad this game really was, so I refunded it and haven't touched it since, nor am I going to. BF2042 is actually the only game I've ever refunded. As a long time battlefield player, this game felt like an abomination... I'll give the next game a chance. Hopefully they can redeem themselves. If not, then the franchise is dead.. In the meantime, I'll be playing BF4. There are plenty of people there, and plenty of servers. :)
I never preordered except for re2 remake and doom eternal but yes just waiting for sale is a safe bet but not for triple a games mostly as I buy indie games and Japanese games.
This is why people need to stop preordering games, especially now with this new trend of “release now, fix later” motto. The only game I’ve pre ordered in the last 8 years was Elden Ring, last game I preordered before that was Black Ops 3. We can’t give these companies the satisfaction of preorder numbers and sales until we know that they’ve learned their lesson and they actually need to finish the game before launching it, or else people will get scammed and disappointed like you. And trust me I don’t want fans and consumers to face that because that’s just despicable on the devs’ part.
Everything you said from “…saying that out loud is depressing”, to “….blowing up a building because there’s a b-- sniper inside”……I felt that. To my core.
I'm well aware of my own disappointment or even sometimes cynicism with the Battlefield at this point, but with that said it genuinely is hard not to come to the conclusion that they are actively trying to sunset the series. It feels like they are trying to fail with the decision making from the top. It feels that bad to me. Every added month of 'nothing in for 2042' and 'another decision that hurts the game more than helps it' just feels like it was planned.
My favorite 2042 feature is the "pay for it twice" feature that i have. I bought the base game before the beta.... then decided to upgrade before launch to the gold edition and when I realized they didn't just charge me for the difference, I had to try and get the original purchase refunded. that didn't happen. no-one responded to my emails and the time passed that i could be refunded. Great experience
PARACEL STORM OMG ❤ Miss that map so much, levelution in general! Shanghai, Oman, Metro, Locker, Hainan, Flood Zone, Golmud, so damn iconic maps. Never thought I'd ever wish for BF premium to return...

A great and comprehensive overview of the current state of the game as well as the "progress" that has been made since launch, Mr. Thrust. For this entire time I've kept up a sliver of hope that DICE could somehow manage to bring this game back from it's deathbed but I think I'm about ready to pull the plug, so to say. Easily the biggest disappointment of 2021 and 2022 for me.
Some of those bugs seem out of this world and some of them i've never experienced It seems like The experience you get with BF2042 is determined with which copy of the game you get
It turns out when you make a game where even some of the bugs have bugs, all you can do is fix the bug's bugs, and as a player when you realize the entire game might be some kind of mega-bug, the best way to deal and live a bug-free life is to delete.
The bug that exposes the map when you get close to some objects is something that has been in every battlefield game. I remember exploiting that to track enemies coming up on my position. In old battlefield games you could kill someone in a knife animation.
When I first downloaded this game at launch I was so excited to play a battlefield campaign that was based in the near future and was instantly disappointed seeing that there wasn’t a campaign. Then I tried playing multiplayer 3 time and every time it put me into a lobby where no one could spawn in and I haven’t touched the game since.
I would love to see your take on Super Giant Games. They blew up with Hades, but they have been releasing great game after great ever since they started.
Me and my friends recently picked up the game bc we’ve always been diehard BF fans. The beta was enough for us to not buy it on launch. But we picked it up when it went down to 25 bucks and we’re surprised at how much fun we’re having. The lack of maps and guns is a problem tho. We’re so glad we didn’t pay full price tho.
Only bug ive ever came across was I died the same second I revived someome else and it turned me into a ghost the enemies couldn't see me and I couldn't hurt them. Low key I thought I was on a prank show cuz I ran around a corner and 6 people where all just sitting there staring at me not shooting 😂
Used to play bf 1942 on my grandpa's laptop back in the day, loved bf4. Not just annoying but Genuinely sad at the state of battlefield, just want things to be like they used to :(
The fact that I now consider buying CoD pretty much sums the game perfectly. There was a time I would laugh about how BF has CoD centuries behind and would not understand the appeal - now (tho admittedly technical aspects of BF are still far ahead), the gameplay itself is shit (tho it got much better recently and the game at least works - I kid you not - the game couldn't launch into match for few months after release on PS5 and I preordered the ultimate there...). Such a good lesson about something I held as obvious truth a long time ago - never preorder - even you favourite franchise.
Reminds me of what's happening with Halo Infinite. Two games that looked amazing in trailers, but lacked any content unfortunately. I predict a swing back towards indie games in the next couple years.
@@redbullsauberpetronas Even if they somehow got it to a state of quality of Battlefield 4 (like it ever could) I still could never give any amount of money for it.

A few months before this came out, I'd gotten back into playing Battlefield with BFV and BF1. I was so looking forward to buying and playing this because I had tons of fun playing those two games and additionally remember the fun times I had playing the BF set in the modern era like BF4 and BF3. I've never pre-ordered games and didn't pre-order this, despite my excitement and I'm glad I didn't after seeing how it turned out.
I think a large issue might be the team at DICE these days. Not necessarily the developers but the people that command what the developers do. Many of the people that were at DICE moved to Embark Studios which is a new studio. If you check out the demo of their game called The Finals and look at the destruction alone, you can see where the talent went. BF3 was peak BF and has been on a steady decline since.
When your game can't beat a decades old console version of an old Battlefield title. You know you fucked up. Battlefield 3 and BFBC2 which are horrendous on PC.
This video explains a lot of things for me just jumping in the game for the past 2 months, I didn't even know those bugs you mentioned were bugs. Very frustrating game, I hold off purchasing the game from lunch hoping it would have been fixed by now but man was I wrong, to be honest I'm having some fun but wth a lot of frustration.
I remember when BF5 came out, I thought to myself "Theres no way it can get worse". Well, lo and behold, Dice managed to do just that. They managed to do worse than BF5. Congratulations Dice. You have permanently ruined your reputation to me and nothing short of Bad Company 3 will bring me back and trust you again.
The final straw for me was when they released an update that completely broke horizontal look movement and told players to fix it in the config file for PC.
Funny how you mention Battlefield Heros. A third person class based shooter released well before its time. They could release that game today with a battlepass and it would be huge. Miss it and old battlefield games. HERES HOPING FOR BATTLEBIT!!!

Those bugs are mad holy shit. I can honestly say I've never had any of those bugs aside from the magic grenade coming out of your face instead of your arm properly throwing it. But at least that's not game breaking. I had the ADS bug (where you can't ADS at all after coming out of a vehicle) maybe twice. And I've logged over 100 hours now so. Bugs are weird in games because they're almost subjective. When Cyberpunk was going through its issues, I never had a single bug. I was so confused why or how it was happening to other ppl and not me.
It's sucks.. I really want to like this game. I keep redownloading it only to uninstall it after a very boring experience. I just keep looking for something to get me back into it.. perhaps one day.
I recently bought this game off gamefly for $9.99 so fiqured I can't go wrong. And while everyone else is sick of all the maps being one year old this is gonna be a brand new game for me. And it seems like alot of the recent patches has it going in the right direction at least
I think dice/ea shot themselves in the foot the second they tied 4 season passes to the ultimate edition. Following its launch and the absolute disaster it was, I can’t imagine the amount of people who refunded/canceled pre orders. Couple that with just like you said the copious amounts of bugs and developers stretched so thin, this game is absolutely going to fail. I absolutely believe that the very moment season 4 releases dice will post the dreaded (but expected) “an important update regarding the future of battlefield 2042” Ultimately announcing that the games development has ended. Great video here sir I ultimately never bought this game and probably never will. Huge battlefield fan too, kinda sad honestly.
Look unless you're playing some kind of SWAT game all I can say is that I hate ballistic shields in FPS, especially when they have some BS ability to deal damage back to you while keeping the user completely safe from the front.
What sucks is I have a buddy who never really played battlefield till this “game” came out. I have been a hardcore BF fan since 2005 and I for years tried to convince him battlefield was a awesome franchise and he should get into it…2142 came out and it was the first BF game he bought. Never again will he play BF now…
BF3 Was the peak, for me. I remember logging in after school and playing 24/7 500% Kharg Island TDM and just slaying out, sometimes going 123-20, I'd made it my goal to get 100 service stars with every assault rifle. Could put on an album and just spend hours playing, enjoying every bit of it. BF4 was good, too, not ideal, but good. I lost interest when they started going back to the past as I just don't like the setting as when I was REALLY young WW2 games were everywhere. BF2142 absolutely gutted me and I gave up after 15 hours and haven't touched it since. If they really wanted unique characters, they should of just let people make completely unique character models and just have class outfits instead of forcing "Specialists." I won't be buying another DICE product and that really hurts to say because BF3 was and still is an unmatched experience. I guess no King rules forever.
13:46 this bug is in both BF1 and BFV. It's detecting something above you (no matter how small it is) so the game is "preventing" you from clipping into the material. Truely one of the features of all time, and totally hasn't put me in double digit deaths in BF1 and BFV. players also count as objects which is great in a close combat scenerio where melee on ground opponents is usually a guarenteed kill. At least sometimes I can whip out a lunge mine in V
How I use the slide mechanic in this game. 1. Sprint up to a corner. 2. Around 10 feet before you hit the corner jump. 3. Instantly slide. 3. Instantly jump. 4. Turn in the direction you are expecting to see enemies and ADS. What the "sprint-jump-slide-jump" does is it somehow doubles your speed at the second jump... UNTILL your feet touch the ground again. I use it to run faster through the wide open areas... I use it to launch my character around a corner twice as fast and far as enemies are expecting a character to jump around said corner.
I honestly feel like if DICE really wanted to include the specialist system they should of had them only for that extraction mode whatever it’s called where you build up and customize your specialist for certain ops and make that more of their “story mode” they didn’t include it seems like that had no direction and goals with this game whatsoever except in game store and make money somehow
You hit the nail on the head with this video I personally will never buy another battlefield game ever again.Unless they somehow managed to release another masterpiece like battlefield 3

Why are we giving them any time on this platform at all. The game is dog water.
My recommendation to people who are thinking about buying it: -try finding it on sale -get a physical copy if your on console. Just so you know, this game has the least sweats so if that helps..

Its good to see someone still going after the hard issues of this game, instead of just saying 'its good now, needs battleroyal' ala Levelcap. Honestly he's become a complete detriment to the battlefield community too because DICE actually listen to him, and he too doesn't understand what the community actually wants. This game is like rolling a Dice.
They got me once but I will never pay for a Dice game ever again.
Absolutely. I'm done with Dice

This really hit me with nostalgia. I remember when I used to come home from school, fire up my 360 and play BF4 for HOURS with my friends. Crazy how the mighty have fallen
Ngl the tower down is great. The close quarters combat in the rubble is really fun

Was inevitable once EA does what EA does ... Chase money. Time to move on.
It’s a mobile game
i mean bf4 kinda was build around that aswell but with content people actually liked
However they kind of flopped on the gameplay side of things, they focused way too much on realism and looks.
same
Battlefield 1 was gorgeous and sounded phenomenal, but lord it was a mess of a game.
BF2042 was a hit job. The COD developers were part of the team.
Jeffrey Epstein didn’t kill himself.

this is the only theory that makes any sense 👍
yeah after playing the beta of 2042 i went and bought vanguard since it was 100% impossible for CoD to produce a game thats worse than what i played in the beta.

Also, yeah, apparently DICE thinks thermal and night vision will be gone in the year 2042 but replaced by no new technology… or they just rushed the game or are too lazy and didn’t put it in.

This is a thing that I could never understand, a thought process that was and is alien to me; just because something is better than before, it doesn't mean its good. If a luxury diner sells me the greatest burger in the country and then serves me the bread of a 2 days old McDonalds cheeseburger, it is bad and I'm disappointed. If they now serve me an uncooked patty and a tiny bit of wallmart sauce, yes, it _is_ better than before, but it is still not good in the slightest and not what was advertised and bought.
how difficult can it be to design a BF game when there are countless predecessors from your own company?!

My God, the aim snap bug...I didn't even know this was a thing... This happened/happens to me so often, I always genuinely thought there was just something wrong with my controller lol 🤣🤣
No man. It's real.
i will always make the argument that teamplay in videogames have always been an issue. there are plenty of times when you would ask for help and nobody answers. however, this can only get worse when everyone can take care of themselves and nobody has a reason to ask for help in the first place.
I subscribed during the ad just because you added strong language to the title haha

This is really strange. I've never experienced or even HEARD of some of these bugs, but my favorite that I have gotten so far is the "I know you're holding M1 but Im gonna simulate a jam and just stop firing for a split second" bug.
There are or were so many bugs that everyone experienced something different almost

Just check out "the finals" it's the old dice devs and the map teased looks exacy like sienne crossing
What pisses me off the most is that they took an extra year off to develop the game.
I have to say that was some excellent usage of the Jordan meme. It was totally unexpected yet extraordinarily effective thumbs up!

It seems like The experience you get with BF2042 is determined with which copy of the game you get
there's probably a million bugs and everyone gets different ones.
It turns out when you make a game where even some of the bugs have bugs, all you can do is fix the bug's bugs, and as a player when you realize the entire game might be some kind of mega-bug, the best way to deal and live a bug-free life is to delete.

Nah, Shadowplay is a breeze for capturing things.
This video covered pretty much every gripe I have about the game.
This not a bug, this is a one year feature from season 0/Beta!
They released the game at least a full year early, then stopped dev almost entirely. I'll never pre-order another dice game ever again.

These rants have had the best thumbnails EVER
Thanks for this 'review'. I was thinking of coming back, but I'll stick to BF4 or BFV.
You hit the nail on the head with this video I personally will never buy another battlefield game ever again.Unless they somehow managed to release another masterpiece like battlefield 3
These are the videos we need to see more. I hate it so much when big Battlefield RUclipsrs like LevelCap and Jackfrags make videos like "2042 is going in the right direction" and "This new update is great" Dice and EA should have lost your time and money. Why are we giving them any time on this platform at all. The game is dog water.
There's only a skeleton crew keeps working on the game so they don't get sued but it's abandoned.
My recommendation to people who are thinking about buying it:
-try finding it on sale
-get a physical copy if your on console.
Just so you know, this game has the least sweats so if that helps..
Bro Firestorm was amazing, it was one of the purest BRs out there, everyone had the same guns, one life, I loved it
Remember all the challenges that Final Stand had? All those neat things you could do and unlock.. the BOW! I had so much hope for this game I really did. I hope we get the Dice we used to have one day, but I accept reality I guess
Great video, love your work my bro!
Now go out in the sun, often. Vitamin D is a hormone! ☀️
1:50 that's so true. That's why Splitgate is so damn good. Simple concept that is fun, has great gunplay, and runs at 120fps easily on a mid grade PC.
Splitgate? That game that fell out of popularity within a month?
@@TheOminousBlade. Says the clown.
@@dragonbornexpress5650 split gate does not fit the bill of a “great” shooter in any respect, it does not have realism neither is it engaging; it is simply mindless fun. So let me ask you something, who really here is the clown?
