It's crazy how adaptive Greece's team was.
Yes, very adaptive. I didn't mention they also played with a back three in other games (when the opponents had a front 2), so their CBs were never isolated 1v1.

Portugal players were probably crying internally.
I was just 7 watching the Euro 2004. Those Dellas' and Kapsis' performances and the defensive end had me mesmerised. For me they were the two MVPs and if i had to choose one it would be Dellas.

Greek players were always talented but very hard to put their playing in discipline. The 1970 team that lost the qualification for 1970 world Cup by Romania was even better than the 2004 team and if they went in Mexico the "immigration" of Greek players would have started by these times. Then players like Thomas Mavros ( led with Mimis Papaioannou AEK Athens to the semi finals of UEFA Cup in 1976 ) and Dimitris Saravakos of Panathinaikos would be massive if they very played abroad. But it seems that nobody cared about Greek football since the Boss man rule which became the turning point that allowed the first Greek players to play with other European clubs. Why all this? Because there is one more element about the triumph of Greece and this is the psychological element. For years and years Greek players and funs had a complex against the so called "powerhouses" of European football and when they were close to a success they didn't have the moral to accomplish their goals. But after Boss man rule players like Nikos Machlas (top scorer in Netherlands with Vitesse) Traianos Fellas (Roma) , Vassilis Tsiartas (Sevilla) Demis Nikolaidis( Atletico Madrid) , Angelos Christmas (Werder Bremen Bundesliga champion ) , Thodoris Zagorakis (Leicester) Stelios Giannakopoulis ( Bolton) and others played against these so called "monsters" of football and saw that they were great players but just humans. So Greece of 2004 had one fine German coach that brought discipline to the rebellious Greeks and the Greeks had left behind years and years of being afraid of those "superior" forces.
Actually Greece was 150-1 on the bets, not 80-1.
I've seen both numbers cited. Either way, it's insanely low odds for a 16-team tournament.

the numbers is a beautifull way to lie !!! u said that prtgl had many long distance shots ( u cant read that on the statistics ) !! also u didnt mention that the 5 to 1 shots to target,almost all the 5 of them was like passing to the keeper,prtgl was a very bad training team for greek defence,no chances created , prtgl had +16% possesion but they rearly got into greek box !!prtgl had 17 shots ,so the funs got lucky,they took many balls to theyr home,someone had to say to the portuguese players that we play soccer ( european football ) and not football ( the american one ) and they have to target through the 3 goalpoasts into the net and not throw the ball in that destination in generall or make a touchdown !!! also if the comited fouls was in favor of greece then why portugal made the same amount of fouls as the greeks did ?! the portuguese had the ball and nothing more that that !! they couldnt do nothing more !!! for 200 minutes portugal did the same thing..........they kept the ball !! congrats to portugal !! we didnt play dirty !!! we made more big - clear chances than the portugal !! but ok the portgal .............had the ball !!! portuguese ppl r sad and mad because they lost the euro cup in theyr own land but they better make prays and thnk god because greece were in the final and not the checks !! if the checks went to the final instent of greece they could easyly throw 3-4 goals !!! just imagine PORTUGAL - CHECKS 1 - 4 !!! imagine that and thank god and greece !! NEVER a host lost 2 times from the same team in a single turnament !!! greece won the keeper and defender of the trophy ( france had both euro and mudial ) !!! greece won the best team in the turnament , checks was the best and they deserve the trophy !!! greece also manage to take a tie from spain,the upcoming power spain that greece won them in theyr homeland at the qualifiers !!! those english people say that greece were lucky but on the first game of rehangel with greece in england the match at the 89 minute was 1-2 and from a beckham foul they manage to get the tie at the last minute and took the qualification for the tournament before euro 2004 !!! england thinks that greece were lucky, england had never won a euro !! they took a mundial in theyr homeland and its still debatiable if the ball pass the goal line in the game with argentina !!! portuguese people dont be like british !! i think u deserve more !!
I know English isn't the fortè of many people, but at least take your time. As for the fouls, he meant that the fact that many fouls happened worked in favor of Greece, because it dropped the tempo of the game a lot, which gave breaths to the defense of Greece and also crunching time, which in its turn made Portugal nervous.

the analysis on this video is perfect...it was the only way to play if we wanted to win the tournament but nowadays there's no chance for a team to win everytime like this...after this euro we failed in every tournament because we have become predictable

@@christermi Το 2012 οκ εφτασε προημιτελικο με γερμανια δεκτο. Το 2014 αντι να τελειωσει το ματσακι στην παραταση με τη κοστα ρικα (επαιζε με 10 απο το 2ο ημιχρονο) το πηγαν στα πεναλτυ οι μαλακες.Καλυτερη ευκαιρια για προημιτελικο σε μουντιαλ δε θα ξαναβρει.
@@loukas7118 we also don't evolve our players to play a more modern style of play and we don't produce players anymore because we don't have football coaches who can teach the game properly. And if we produce players nowadays we wait until they become 27-32 years old to play for the national team because we have that stupid cast of mind that if they reach their 27 years of age they're still considered as talents.
Portugal can't beat Greece but Brazil of Portuguese can beat Greece.

PHENOMENAL Brazil 2005-2006 🇧🇷 beat almost the same Greece in the Confederation cup in Germany 1 year later 3-0...Adriano was a beast. No contest there...I am Greek btw...I felt honoured that Greece played against that legendary Brazil
