      It is more complicated than Z-Series Motherboards. Also buying a "K" CPU with a B-Series Motherboard is a waste of money because you can't overclock on B-Series Motherboards. Intel Extreme Tuning Utility will also not work on B-Series Motherboard due to the "cheap" chipset. I would invest a bit more money in a Z-series to fully enjoy a i5 / i7 / i9 K-Series CPU!

    What motherboard are you talking about that can overclock?
    Is it the MSI B760m mortar Max?
    And if it is, doesn't Asus have 2 B660 boards that also have external clock generators?
    I've seen an article of somebody overclocking a 13900kf to 6Ghz on a strix B660-f with an older bios. And another one where somebody overclocked a 13600k 5.8Ghz on a MAG B660m mortar max with a special bios.
    I'm asking all of this so I can confirm my suspicions that only the 13th gen non-k CPUs come with the microcode that disables them from being BCLK overclocked.
    Hardware Unboxed already confirmed this for the 13th gen non-k parts in Twitter post.

    • @WeDoTech
      @WeDoTech  10 месяцев назад

      The motherboard doesn't really make too much of a difference in performance, unless you're overclockling and need more stable power. Mostly look for features you want when buying a motherboard.

    • @mgoogyi
      @mgoogyi 10 месяцев назад

      @@WeDoTech Unless the B760s undervolt protection feature kicks in, increases cpu vcore that leads to thermal throttling and that leads to lower performance.
      I think Asus and Msi has bios updates where you can turn off UVP and it solves these issues.
      Anyway, the title suggest you did these benchmarks with the B760 mb, but you did not.

      @@Whachadoon If you want to OC then a Z board will always be a better option. But I would always take a model-up non-K with a cheaper board compared to just the ability to OC.
      But depends if you need a higher end board and some of its features. Majority of the time it's not really needed.
      Maybe go i7 13700 ($400 - $100 more than 13600K)
      Then TUF B760-Plus WiFi DDR4 for $210 - save around $60 compared to the B760-F and can even save some cahs on DDR4 RAM.

      You will not be able to overclock your 13700K or KF on a B-series motherboard/chipset, which is kind of the idea with the K-series CPU's.
      The 13700 (non-K) is a bit cheaper than the K, so if you're looking for a budget build and not looking to overclock anyway, then thats probably the way to go.

    • @user-hr4hu8xb5f

      @Mr. Maddesen K cpu naturally clocks higher and you can't undervolt a non K raptor lake to help your temps/performance, so why not choosing the K version when it is just like 20 to 30 usd more expensive?
