It was 1973 and the Stylistics had two great hits that came out that year. "Break Up To Make Up" and "I'm Stone In Love With You." I was 19yrs old back then. The Sound of Philadelphia aka Philadelphia International Records owned the airwaves. You can't go wrong going down the Rabbitt Hole that is the Stylistics' The Delfonics' Blue Majic' Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes' with Teddy Pendergras' The O'Jays' and the Three Degrees. They "The Stylistics" and "The Delfonics" were Philadelphia International Records biggest hits makers. Thank you both for playing and loving the songs of my youth. At 70yrs old I appreciate you both for keeping the music of my generation (The Baby Boomers) alive. God bless you both.
Here are some more hits by the (Stylistics)...Stop, look, Listen (To Your Heart) 1971. You Are Everything (1971). People Make The World Go Round (1971). I'm Stone In Love With You (1972). And the Disco hit...I Can't Give You Anything (But My Love) 1975.
You need to check out their LPs, their first, The Stylistics, Round 2, and "Rock and Roll Baby!" No filler tracks on any of these albums! Just one great song after another! The production of every song was top notch!!!
I am so glad you are reacting to them again. I can’t express how much I love them. I requested their song “Betcha By Golly Wow” before and you replied (which made my day). I can’t wait for you to feature more of the Stylistics!❤
Your right I love Sabbath Slayer Metallic but also love Soul Mowtown as well as many rock and metal bands I’ve seen live Four Tops , Temptations , the Drifters and Randy Crawford . I think it’s a shame when black artist went down the drill and rap route they lost so much . Favourite track It’s A Shame Detroit Spinners.
75 yr old woman here, Miss this music so badly, sure wish I was this young again. I was a young woman back then and had a very exciting affair with a young man, but I wasn't married.
Shawn and Mel, you must research the song writing team of composer Thom Bell and Lyricist Linda Creed. Together, they help to create the fame Philly Sound. Then Came You- Dionne Warwick 5. People Make The World Go Round-Stylistics 6. Break Your Promise-Delfonics 7. I'm Stone In Love With You-Stylistics 8. Betcha By Golly Wow-Stylistics 9. "People Make the World Go Round" is a tremendous song with thoughtful lyrics. I believe Spike Lee featured it prominently in one of his films.
