Love "The Philadelphia Sound" of the 70's when I was a teenager! Lyrics by the late great Linda Creed Epstein. She also penned "You Are Everything", "Betcha by Golly, Wow", "Break Up to Make Up", "People Make the World Go Round", "The Rubber Band Man", "The Greatest Love of All" and "I'm Stone in Love with You". Sadly, she died of breast cancer at 37.
Wow haven't heard this song in a while. Can these guys ever sing, sheesh! Beautifully written song and executed with so much soul. Thanks for the great reaction!
I used to dance at the highschool mixer (weekly dance) to this song. That is if I got lucky enough to have a guy to ask me to dance. Back in that day, a girl waited till a boy would ask a girl to dance. It was that way, right or wrong in 1973. I still swoon over this song.
That's right...if it gets better than this...SHOW ME! I saw them in person and it was a love fest in Philly, their hometown. Hit after hit after hit after hit. The audience sang every song at the top of our lungs.
I took my girlfriend's 14-year-old son to watch Tavares perform in 2009. he was blown away by how good they were. a few years later he started going to Soul Survivors nights with us. his biggest complaint was that he had missed all the best music!😏🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've heard over 50 years worth of love songs, and IMO, this is the one that best captures the essence of TRUE LOVE! Add to that the beautiful voices and instrumentation, and you've got the perfect love song. If this song reflects how you feel about each other, know that you are indeed truly blessed! 💞 Love your reaction!
I love this song. I dedicated it to my 1st serious boyfriend. I was 17 and he was 19. I will always think of him when I hear this. I got to see the Stylistics back in the day, in NYC at an old club called Barney Google’s. They sang every note perfectly.
@ShawnandMel4Life Oh, Shawn and Mel, I knew you would love this song. The 2 of you always show your love for each other to us. My 1st love was long ago. This is now your song! Next up, check out the Stylistics "Betcha By Golly Wow." It's another beautiful love song I think you'll love!
I was a 19yr old freshman at City College of New York in Harlem back in (1973) when this song came out. I can't believe it's been (52yrs) ago when this beautiful song came out. Now I'm a 70yr old senior citizen listening to song of my youth. Note: They were part of the great Philadelphia International Records label where the fame Philadelphia Sound came from. They along with the Delfonics, Blue Magic with Teddy Pendergras, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes, The Tramps, MFSB, The O'Jays, The Three Degrees, Lou Rawls, and Eddie Holman. For a time in the 70's they surpassed Motown as the number one soul and Rythm and Blues label. You need to go down the Rabbitt hole that is the Philadelphia International Records Aka the Philadelphia Sound.
@@ShawnandMel4Life Yes! The Baby Boomer generation that was born in the 50's grew up with the birth of Rock & Roll in 1954. Then came the 60's as kids and young teens, and as older teens and young adults in the 70's. Those were the days when music was worth listening to. Thank you for your kind reply. God bless you both. Been watching you guys from the beginning.
One of my favorite groups in the 70's. Love all of their music. "Betcha Bye Golly Wow" is another one just as good. "Stone in Love With You" and "You Are Everything." They had endless hits.
After all the adversity, heartaches, disappointments you two have endured, every time I see you, your love for each other is truly brand new. God bless the both of you. This song is the epitome of what you two have. Thank you....much love and respect Shawn and Mel💙

Shawn, your sensitivity is HOT! Listen, I was born in the 50's and the 1970's was an amazing decade for the Arts...Hollywood's second golden age, theatre going through a renaissance re material and the music...was there ever a decade like the 70's for music? Top 40 radio played ALL genres of music and it was ALL good. Love the Stylistics and those spectacularly beautiful R&B gentlemen!!!
The best soul groups ever to perform. How I wish the brothers would bring back these golden days. It was a great time to be alive. Dancing with you love cheek to cheek and feeling the love. Sorta like you two lovebirds! Love you guys, God Bless you and your beautiful family.
I would first like to say to the both of you. I am a 60 year old man. I heard this when it was being played on the radio. I saw this when it was on Soul Train on a Saturday. But with this many times as I've heard this song. Today it had a different meaning for me. To watch the reaction from the two of you from beginning to end. Was something extremely amazing. I can see the love that you both have for one another. To God be the glory you found each other 16 years ago. The words that you spoke of one another are so inspiring. Strictly! I've been a fan of your show for a while. If possible I am an even bigger fan now. Please continue as you are. I'll be watching
