I had the privilege of seeing him in person (up close and personal), and he was just as professional and friendly, and funny, as he appeared to be. It was a sad day to hear he died. 😢😢
I wonder if the people in the audience realized what a tremendous blessing they received that day...I would guess most did. I know I have received a wonderful blessing listening to this...what a joy it is!!!
I really miss Anthony Burger. I still cry when I watch him play. When I get to heaven I'm going to ask God why he took him home so soon when all he did was bring people to know Jesus thru his music 🎵🎶💜
I am a pianist. He was TRULY ANOINTED BY GOD. I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET AND GREET HIM. FOR I KNOW HE WILL BE AMONG THE OTHER ANOINTED SERVANTS OF GOD WHOM WE WERE BLESSED TO HAVE FOR A SHORT TIME. THANK YOU GOD FOR THEIR LIVES, THEIR TALENTS AND THEIR INSPIRATIONS!!!!!
I understand that Anthony Burger was playing "Hear My Song, Lord" when he collapsed and died at the piano on a cruise ship with the Gaithers. He is the greatest gospel music pianist of all time, I believe. There were those present that were privileged to witness a 7 foot angel, a misty figure, place a hand upon Anthony's shoulder at that moment, as the Lord called him home. This was reported by various people throughout the audience. I have no doubt I will see Anthony in heaven, with a piano
Anthony you were a wonderful Pianist I Loved watching and hearing you play the pianos. Sure do miss seeing you on Gaithers but you are in a much better place and someday well meet you again.
I grew up listening to and loving Rudy Atwood on the Old Fashioned Revival Hour and then along came Anthony. What a treasure and his testimony of God's healing power.
Our GREAT God has His lead pianist up in Heaven now, limbering up for our final Homecoming! Oh, my! What a day that will be when Our Savior we shall see!!!
I am so glad I had the chance to see him play. I don't know how anyone can get their fingers to move as fast as his did across a keyboard.... Glad you enjoyed the videos.
So incredibly refreshing - I always loved to hear Anthony play...what a gift for God's glory, and he always showed such a gracious spirit. What a treasure to have these moments kept on video from one of his performances in a local church. Beautiful hymns played from the heart of one of God's "chief musicians".
RIP... I do believe... This is absolutely the result of incredible intense discipline, unbelievable determination and very, very hard work- for a very long time. You were absolutely magnificent, unbelievable and fantastic. Lol from Switzerland 🇨🇭
What a wonderful gift of music! Anthony played from his heart! No doubt he continues to fill heaven with beautiful music on a golden grand! I am so thankful you have shared this video with us.
I just got saved in the Navy in 1992 while stationed in SC and I had no idea what music to buy. I'm a Yankee so I wasn't raised surrounded by church and music. My grandma loved quartet music like Statler Bros and Oak Ridge Boys so I looked in that section and just grabbed something. It was Kingsmen Greatest Hits or something. I loved those guys immediately and became a huge fan of Anthony. When I heard what happened I was heartbroken. Such a humble guy and a great witness. Thanks for posting this. I'm glad there's such a storehouse of his music to still hear.
My story is similar to yours. I am a yankee too whose knowledge of quartette was limited to the Oaks and Statlers. Simiallry in the early 90s I was in the Navy and stationed in the south, Newport News VA. There was a Southern Gospel radio station in nearby Hampton. That's where I learned of the Kingsmen.
I remember walking into his dad's music store and Anthony was playing the piano. He was 7 at the time. My sister and I had the pleasure of attending high school with him. He was in my sister's class and she knew him well. Like Anthony, my sister's hands were burned when she was a small child, but she too plays the piano! It's so sad that he was so young.
One of the best piano players I ever heard and I'm missing there's one other piano player that could play like that that's Floyd Cramer and he's gone too I hope they rest in peace
I can't even THINK as fast as he played. I too love listening to and watching the videos of him play. He looked to be sweet, humble and with a good sense of humor. Didn't know he'd checked in to heaven! When did this happen? I have to agree that Anthony was one of THE BEST pianists ever!
I too think he was the best pianist I have ever heard. I guess God had need of him more than us. We will get to see and hear him again in the Sweet By And By!
Watch how both hands floats over the keys, making them light, agile, fast and incredibly accurate. Pure talent and hours of practice. He made it look so easy too.
@@creativeideasllc I remember back in my Church going days that our pianist was classicly trained. I live Kentucky, pentecostal church so he played with soul. And I remember watching him play up close and it's credible watching them play live. How incredibly fast and accurate and he could carry on a conversation while playing lol I have to think hard just opening up a mustard bottle lol
ooooh boy now Im soooo excited to meet him when I get home to glory :) I play the piano.. not as good as Anthony.. butI play and I love to play.. Im going to strive to get better at the gift God gave me.. literally I never ever had one piano lesson in my life.. it is literally GOD that put the ability inside me when I was about 12 :)
Thanks to you for watching. When I met him at the small church that he performed at, I really had not idea how popular. I had seen him playing on TV. I am just thankful I got a chance to talk to him and share this with all. He was super nice, and gave me permission to tape this event. Wonderful man and great pianist.
Awesome! This was prior to him recording "The Story" hymn series. I remember him rearranging a few of those songs. It's also fun to notice the different time frames of some of his runs....
Wow! Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church in Taylorsville had Anthony Burger. The Anthony Burger. The Master Mind of piano players, the greatest ever in the business of Southern Gospel Piano Players. They allowed real talent to come through the door of that church. I am shocked. Anthony Burger the best piano player ever. Gone to soon. Rest in peace Anthony Burger with all your Homecoming Friends from the Gaither Videos.
Is this the same church where Stan Whitmire played too? I saw some videos of Stan playing and it looked like the same church. Also, do you know the name of the church?
Rachel Wilke I think he switched to another song without pausing. It is at this point while editing that I faded the clip out. I will look at my original tapes is see if there are some additional footage I can add... Thanks for the comment....
+calvada1 A small church in Georgia near Atlanta... It probably would only seat about 200 or so people. I am amazed he would play in such a small church.
Hi, Robey, Do you have this arrangement? I would play this in a job interview. If you do, I would really appreciate if you can write me an email liuwen6131@yahoo.com

I did for sure. He seem like a super nice guy. Just thankful I got to hear him play and that he gave me permission to videotape him that day.
My Mama favorite song. When they ring those golden bells. She is deceased now and I am sure he heard those Golden Bells.
Meant to say She is hearing those Golden Bells in heaven now.

Many times the "gifted" are called home early. So sad for those who are left behind; but a joy filled reunion there.
From what I had heard, he was playing “We Shall Behold Him” by Dottie Rambo at the time.
@@organrick he will play for me when I getthere
