They were both pawns of the political scheming of a bunch of aliens we never even saw onscreen, but they were also their own individual people who ought to have the right to choose their own destinies. It's not as though they were even really the Antarian Royal Four--they were mostly engineered from random humans who happened to be compatible with the hybridization process for some part of their alien genes, and two copies were made of each, so they couldn't really be Zan, Ava, Rath, and Vilandra themselves, just substitutes who were very much more human than alien (even their powers were implemented in their human genes, according to Nasedo, and their emotions were human as well). I can't blame Liz one bit for fearing that Max couldn't escape the destiny planned for him by aliens, but with the benefit of hindsight she was wrong, as he always had a choice...at least until that whole forced "End of the World" mess compelled her to push him away and toward Tess. Of course you're right that Max never could have loved Tess like he loved Liz, even if the truth about both had never come to light. And after it did the comparison became ridiculous, as he hated Tess and respected Liz more than ever (after that point, Max was always consciously trying to prove himself worthy of Liz).
I get annoyed when two people are supposed to be together but aren't for different reasons but I didn't feel annoyed at all with Max and Liz. Even if things were never simple and easy between them, their love was pure and real and I think we can all feel it when we watch them. This video made me cry, it was just perfect!
I just rewatched all three seasons. Max and Liz had something special. The chemistry between the actors was also special. I often wonder what happened to them following the final episode. This brought so many memories back. Beautiful video.
if you want to know i will tell you i am one of them from roswell we left after the graduation night and max and liz finally tied the knot and got married and then we all left in the van together and all doing good in the world hiding from the fbi the goverment the special unit of the fbi the army the millatary the sheriffs the police every one that was hunting us big time but will we ever go back we all all don,t know all i can say that we all are doing good in the world and that we are all happy now.
THIS literally was my first love, and I’m in awe with all the memories coming back to me, it makes me so happy and sad at the same time, wish I could go back to that time. Honestly want to cry, can’t believe how long it’s been. No wonder I get so happy and a sense of familliarity when I see Shiri Appleby (Liz) in any drama. She could never do me wrong, she’s like family! ❤️

+snoflakes Just do what I do--watch it again! ;) As for a longer run, yeah, I wished for that, too, but in retrospect we got a pretty complete story that I'm pretty happy with, and I can't help but think what could have gone wrong in seasons 4 and beyond. 61 episodes is a good run, in the grand scheme of things, and at the time it was really more than we had a right to hope for. I also wished that the ending wasn't so rushed, but then again it could very well have ended abruptly instead, which would have been horrible--at least the producers knew the end was coming early and managed to give the show a proper, if open, ending. And most importantly for some, Max & Liz got their happy ending, and it was beautiful.

For one thing, the characters are not in high school, which makes a huge difference right off the bat. +ola fiske Max sure was smitten, but watch how that develops at the very end of season 2. After treating Liz like an enemy toward the end of the season, Max's eyes are finally opened, and he fully realizes who Liz is as a person and what she means to him. He had (almost) always respected her before, but not like this. Max realized just how intelligent and strong Liz was, and how she made him and his life better. I think his whole view of her and their relationship changed at this point, and this was reflected in his behavior for most of season 3. Max would strive to prove himself worthy and try to make her life better, too. And he looked at her as more of a partner than before--more like a wife and member of his family than a lover. I think Max must have grown up a fair amount at the end of season 2, and as profound as it was even in season 1, his love for Liz would only deepen from then on.
I'm actually very impressed. I make X Files music videos and I know that it can be challenging to make certain scenes flow with the music; the tone of the song, the beat, the feel of it. Most people just put randoms scenes together with music and call it a music video. They don't realize that they have to tell a story with those clips. You did that. There was a story and a flow. The scenes you chose worked with the lyrics of the song. You had a vision and followed through with it. I like to see music videos that move me and make me want to watch the show again. Nice job. I give it an "A+"!
Also, I hate it when people put a lot of clips in music videos where people are talking. It's very distracting, b/c then, instead of getting into the music video, I try to remember what they were saying. Thank you for not doing that! It's about the non verbal communication. The verbal communication is the lyrics.
I love that this show took it's time with teen romance... it didnt rush the teens into adult situations for ratings (other than when the dress Izzy in leather for a full season for no reason). It was nice that they allowed it to be a chased show and more along the lives of kids then.
+matahari lh Well, at least they were together when the show ended, and happily married, no less, after what must be the most romantic proposal in TV history. :) Most such pairings never get such a happy ending, it seems, even in shows that played for longer. Max & Liz were lucky in this sense, and so were we.
The only chemistry between actors, that can potentially be compared to this, is the one between Paul wesley(stefan) and Nina Dobrev(helena) from the vampire diaries. This is honestly the best couple of any series
+kroakie4 Shiri has actually been asking for Jason to be in her shows this whole time, but so far it hasn't happened. :( However, recently she signed a multi-year contract to develop TV shows, so she will potentially be a show-runner and executive producer in her own right, which should give her the power to make casting decisions. She still has to clear everything with studio executives (everyone has a boss), but she will have a ton more influence than she did as just an actress, of course. I bet she'll personally ask Jason to come in and audition for any show she might develop, and hopefully she'll be able to act in it, as well, although that would be tough. Nearly all of the original cast members have expressed interest in reprising their roles, and they all still look like they could do it, too, especially if the revived show picks up, as I think it should, in the present time, 15 years after they fled Roswell. What have they been up to since then, and can they ever stop running from the government? And did Liz literally explode when she and Max finally "did it" or did she explode because they waited too long? I've been wondering about that ever since Maria and Alex had that discussion in season 1. Don't leave me in suspense! ;)
+kroakie4 Although it could have been an act for the sake of fans, I've heard that they seemed pretty close when meeting and taking pictures with fans at the outdoor shooting locations in Covina. Jason would often put his arm(s) around Shiri and call her "Mon Shiri" (obviously a play on the French expression "mon chéri" which means "my darling"). :) They were apparently really physically comfortable with each other off-screen, too, by the way. I'd always heard that Jason was dating Katherine Heigl that whole time (or nearly so), but who knows? Whatever might have gone on, Shiri has been keen on working with Jason again for years. You may know this, but out of all of the Roswell cast members, especially the young ones, she is the only one who has never purposefully tried to distance herself from the show and her role in it (tried to break out of her typecasting, yes, but never denied or put Liz Parker in the past--she is still Liz if that's how people want to see her). She is humble that way, realizing all along how lucky she was to have gotten a starring role for three years and to have loyal fans who have helped sustain her career. She is also smart, as in very sensible and realistic about what makes this business work, and professional (i.e. takes her work seriously and listens to and learns from others), which I suppose is why she got the production/development deal (some of her co-stars have received production credits since then, but those were the honorary type). The other cast members (except for the older ones, namely William Sadler) seemed embarrassed to have been on Roswell, and tended to get irked whenever the association came up in the media or with fans. Except for Katherine, they have all changed their tune now, though, finally realizing what Shiri has known all along--that they were lucky to have been on such a show, and despite the daily grind of series TV, it was probably the best job they'd ever had. Except for Katherine (and who knows now because she's been making Nyquil and kitty litter commercials to stay current, and her new TV series got canceled right away), they all seem willing to work on any future productions of Roswell, and most have explicitly said this. Why it hasn't happened yet is still kind of a mystery. I mean, restarting shows like this has become a trend in the industry, after all, and the results have generally been positive. Maybe some of the cast members or developer Jason Katims are too busy right now (certainly not Jason Behr!), but Shiri is really going to be busy fairly soon, so they need to get cracking!
+Justine Webster Oh God yes, it's hardly even a comparison! I mean, was there ever really any love between Clark and Lana? There was desire, yes, and tons of angst, but what about love? I've only seen the first four seasons of Smallville (that was more than enough), and during that time it sure seemed that the only person Clark really loved besides his parents was Chloe, even if that was platonic on his side--lots of angst there, too, on Chloe's side, but at least they cared about each other (quite a lot, actually). Clark & Lana were selfish and shallow, never developed a sense of trust or love, and were just plain sickening--geez, just kick her to the curb and get on with your life, dude! :) And of course Lana should have done the same to Clark, too, much earlier. Max & Liz, on the other hand--now that's true, consummate love, even though they're teenagers. They're only comparable to Clark & Lana in the sense that one of each pair is an alien and that had a tendency to come between them in some way, causing angst. That's all, though.

Roy Wright smalleville was supposed to,be about clark as a ,teenager and not superman and he didnt meet lois until he went to metropolis to work at the daily planet so i dont know why they pushed lois lane into smallville series it was supposed to be about lana and clark and that was to be the endgame .
I've just started watching it, I'm on the second episode. I know, thats pathetic but so far it is very good. It was a suggestion of songs for it so I have watched a lot of it to know what the story is. They are a nice couple and I love the plot, it reminds me of I AM NUMBER 4 a little.

No, I would not, in general or especially for its connection to the original show. Who knows, you may like it (I don't), but either way, it's *nothing* like the original show. I did watch a bunch of the reboot, because I like alien/sci-fi stuff, but couldn't take it anymore. I do have one "interesting" anecdote, though. I was watching one episode that, for once, just subjectively felt so much like the original show, both in terms of emotion and shooting (cinematography) style, that I was stunned, so I looked up who directed it, and it was Shiri Appleby! As far as I know, she is only a guest director who directed an episode or two (although she might be asked back for more), but I think I know where she learned her craft from. 😄

+ola fiske Max sure was smitten, but watch how that develops at the very end of season 2. After treating Liz like an enemy toward the end of the season, Max's eyes are finally opened, and he fully realizes who Liz is as a person and what she means to him. He had (almost) always respected her before, but not like this. Max realized just how intelligent and strong Liz was, and how she made him and his life better. I think his whole view of her and their relationship changed at this point, and this was reflected in his behavior for most of season 3. Max would strive to prove himself worthy and try to make her life better, too. And he looked at her as more of a partner than before--more like a wife and member of his family than a lover. I think Max must have grown up a fair amount at the end of season 2, and as profound as it was even in season 1, his love for Liz would only deepen from then on.
This took my breath away.

I'm actually very impressed. I make X Files music videos and I know that it can be challenging to make certain scenes flow with the music; the tone of the song, the beat, the feel of it. Most people just put randoms scenes together with music and call it a music video. They don't realize that they have to tell a story with those clips. You did that. There was a story and a flow. The scenes you chose worked with the lyrics of the song. You had a vision and followed through with it. I like to see music videos that move me and make me want to watch the show again. Nice job. I give it an "A+"!
Also, I hate it when people put a lot of clips in music videos where people are talking. It's very distracting, b/c then, instead of getting into the music video, I try to remember what they were saying. Thank you for not doing that! It's about the non verbal communication. The verbal communication is the lyrics.

I love that this show took it's time with teen romance... it didnt rush the teens into adult situations for ratings (other than when the dress Izzy in leather for a full season for no reason). It was nice that they allowed it to be a chased show and more along the lives of kids then.

+matahari lh Well, at least they were together when the show ended, and happily married, no less, after what must be the most romantic proposal in TV history. :) Most such pairings never get such a happy ending, it seems, even in shows that played for longer. Max & Liz were lucky in this sense, and so were we.

+kroakie4 Shiri has actually been asking for Jason to be in her shows this whole time, but so far it hasn't happened. :( However, recently she signed a multi-year contract to develop TV shows, so she will potentially be a show-runner and executive producer in her own right, which should give her the power to make casting decisions. She still has to clear everything with studio executives (everyone has a boss), but she will have a ton more influence than she did as just an actress, of course. I bet she'll personally ask Jason to come in and audition for any show she might develop, and hopefully she'll be able to act in it, as well, although that would be tough.

They're still friends in real life and have warm feelings for each other, by the way--their acting wasn't all acting. Some (myself included) can't believe that they didn't end up together in real life, but maybe they're friend-zoned somehow or feel like siblings, I don't know (apart from the sheer heat of their chemistry, they also give off a general family vibe, both on and off the screen).
+serenity0324 I sure hope so, too, and ideally that show would be Roswell. :) Come on, Netflix, make it happen! They've done it with other shows, after all. Nearly all of the original cast members have expressed interest in reprising their roles, and they all still look like they could do it, too, especially if the revived show picks up, as I think it should, in the present time, 15 years after they fled Roswell. What have they been up to since then, and can they ever stop running from the government? And did Liz literally explode when she and Max finally "did it" or did she explode because they waited too long? I've been wondering about that ever since Maria and Alex had that discussion in season 1. Don't leave me in suspense! ;)

+kroakie4 Although it could have been an act for the sake of fans, I've heard that they seemed pretty close when meeting and taking pictures with fans at the outdoor shooting locations in Covina. Jason would often put his arm(s) around Shiri and call her "Mon Shiri" (obviously a play on the French expression "mon chéri" which means "my darling"). :) They were apparently really physically comfortable with each other off-screen, too, by the way. I'd always heard that Jason was dating Katherine Heigl that whole time (or nearly so), but who knows?
Whatever might have gone on, Shiri has been keen on working with Jason again for years. You may know this, but out of all of the Roswell cast members, especially the young ones, she is the only one who has never purposefully tried to distance herself from the show and her role in it (tried to break out of her typecasting, yes, but never denied or put Liz Parker in the past--she is still Liz if that's how people want to see her). She is humble that way, realizing all along how lucky she was to have gotten a starring role for three years and to have loyal fans who have helped sustain her career. She is also smart, as in very sensible and realistic about what makes this business work, and professional (i.e. takes her work seriously and listens to and learns from others), which I suppose is why she got the production/development deal (some of her co-stars have received production credits since then, but those were the honorary type).
The other cast members (except for the older ones, namely William Sadler) seemed embarrassed to have been on Roswell, and tended to get irked whenever the association came up in the media or with fans. Except for Katherine, they have all changed their tune now, though, finally realizing what Shiri has known all along--that they were lucky to have been on such a show, and despite the daily grind of series TV, it was probably the best job they'd ever had. Except for Katherine (and who knows now because she's been making Nyquil and kitty litter commercials to stay current, and her new TV series got canceled right away), they all seem willing to work on any future productions of Roswell, and most have explicitly said this. Why it hasn't happened yet is still kind of a mystery. I mean, restarting shows like this has become a trend in the industry, after all, and the results have generally been positive. Maybe some of the cast members or developer Jason Katims are too busy right now (certainly not Jason Behr!), but Shiri is really going to be busy fairly soon, so they need to get cracking!

+Justine Webster Oh God yes, it's hardly even a comparison! I mean, was there ever really any love between Clark and Lana? There was desire, yes, and tons of angst, but what about love? I've only seen the first four seasons of Smallville (that was more than enough), and during that time it sure seemed that the only person Clark really loved besides his parents was Chloe, even if that was platonic on his side--lots of angst there, too, on Chloe's side, but at least they cared about each other (quite a lot, actually). Clark & Lana were selfish and shallow, never developed a sense of trust or love, and were just plain sickening--geez, just kick her to the curb and get on with your life, dude! :) And of course Lana should have done the same to Clark, too, much earlier.
Max & Liz, on the other hand--now that's true, consummate love, even though they're teenagers. They're only comparable to Clark & Lana in the sense that one of each pair is an alien and that had a tendency to come between them in some way, causing angst. That's all, though.
Justine Webster more like Lois and Clark. Lana was a trash human being who didn't deserve Clark. She was always playing the victim card and made a secret-HIS secret, about her. Like she couldn't let homeboy tell her when he was ready.
rbrtck there was love between clark and lana so sorry u werent able to see it. lana was clarks first love and they both loved each other genuinely they should have had endgame because there was so much love and chemistry between them but because superman is destined to be with lois i dont like erica durance they changed up the story and forced lois lane in so sad sigh.
Roy Wright smalleville was supposed to,be about clark as a ,teenager and not superman and he didnt meet lois until he went to metropolis to work at the daily planet so i dont know why they pushed lois lane into smallville series it was supposed to be about lana and clark and that was to be the endgame .
I miss this TV show so much, but I don't think I can deal with all the teenage angst these days.

I've just started watching it, I'm on the second episode. I know, thats pathetic but so far it is very good. It was a suggestion of songs for it so I have watched a lot of it to know what the story is. They are a nice couple and I love the plot, it reminds me of I AM NUMBER 4 a little.

No, I would not, in general or especially for its connection to the original show. Who knows, you may like it (I don't), but either way, it's *nothing* like the original show.
I did watch a bunch of the reboot, because I like alien/sci-fi stuff, but couldn't take it anymore. I do have one "interesting" anecdote, though. I was watching one episode that, for once, just subjectively felt so much like the original show, both in terms of emotion and shooting (cinematography) style, that I was stunned, so I looked up who directed it, and it was Shiri Appleby! As far as I know, she is only a guest director who directed an episode or two (although she might be asked back for more), but I think I know where she learned her craft from. 😄
