Hi, my name is Shauna Collins and I have cancer. I happen to be a medical doctor as well. I have a very rare leukemia called 'Large Granular Lymphocytic Leukemia' (LGLL). Most of my LGLL videos are extremely candid and very, very personal. They document my personal cancer journey - the good, the bad and the ugly. I also explain how I've addressed this cancer with nutrition and juicing with some (but not all) very remarkable results. I take you into my own kitchen and show you exactly what produce we juice. I show you my actual lab reports and tests and you see what elements of my LGLL cancer have tremendously improved with juicing and which have not. Also, being a physician (UCLA Med School graduate) I study quite a bit of LGLL literature and teach you about LGLL because it's so rare and there is not a lot of information on the internet about it.
All of this sharing is purely an act of love for whoever may benefit.
    God bless you!
    Doc Shauna

Hi there, very interesting video. Please advise what you mean by juicing? Is it making healthy blended juices or having a more scheduled or routine blood transfusion treatment?
& did the Methotrexate prescription help and did you experience any side effects?

    • @SOTEmedia
      @SOTEmedia  Год назад +3

Hi @mukthaar goolam. Thank you so much for watching! I'm happy to answer your questions.
By "juicing" I mean putting several pounds of raw vegetables and some fruit through a juicer which 'presses' most of the juice out of the produce and into a container. I drink about 48 ounces of this fresh juice everyday. I do skip a day of drinking it now and then because I just get tired of drinking so much all the time. But when I miss days of drinking it, I will have significantly less energy the next day. Also, knowing how much these nutrients have benefited my health, in terms of the cancer keeps me motivated to keep chugging down the juice everyday.
You mentioned blending. I do also blend (but less often) so I can add solid food to the juice. I'll put the fresh juice in a blender and add raw, organic walnuts, chia seeds, flax seeds, broccoli, berries (the broccoli and berries could be juiced, but I don't juice them) and sometimes other things as well. This creates a thick smoothie. I try to drink 16 - 32 ounces of this every day, but in actuality, I drink it maybe 5 days/week. It's very challenging for me to drink so much fluid every day. But again, the health benefits and the amount of energy I derive from drinking it every day outweighs the inconvenience.
I made a video that spoke of the juicing and I showed my actual lab results over a 6 month period. This period was before I started taking any medicine for the cancer. You can see the clear benefit of the juicing as my cancerous cell line (and other white blood cell lines) NORMALIZED. However, I'm very candid about the fact that my nutrition regimen did not (and still has not) corrected my chronic hemolytic anemia, which is why I had to start taking meds (Methotrexate) for LGLL.
If you're interested, the video is called:
'Leukemia Cancer Survivor-The Effect of Juicing on Large Granular Lymphocytic Leukemia (LGLL)'
      Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/crkjEXIJn1U/видео.html
I began discussing the juicing and labs somewhere around the 18 - 19 minute mark.
And here's a very short video that shows the produce we (my husband does the juicing actually) use in the juicing:
"Exact Ingredients of Dee's Juice-that brought my cancer cell-line into normal range"
      ruclips.net/video/3pZ36p3yEEg/видео.html
As far as the the benefit and side effects of the Methotrexate...oh boy!
The answer to this question is rather complicated. I plan on doing an update video shortly on this subject (hopefully, within 2 weeks) because it's not a straightforward answer. Suffice it to say, it's been a rocky road and it hasn't produced the results we had hoped for. :(
I hope I answered your questions adequately @mukthaar goolam. Please let me know if you have anymore questions. Thank you again for your interest.
      God bless!
      Doc Shauna

Hi, I was diagnosed with TLGL this Oct 24, 2022, and I found it hard to find anyone with any information on this disease. Let alone someone who looks like me. Nov 4, 2022, I went for a second opinion at MDAnderson in Houston, TX. It's been challenging to accept this diagnosis. I'm in the watch-and-wait stage. On 11/4, I had a bone marrow biopsy and aspiration, which was the worse experience. Something that I would not wish on anyone. The doctor told me that an autoimmune disorder does follow this cancer (e.g., RA, Lupus); anything else tuned out. My fear has been at an all-time high. But in doing some research, I started Yoga, Tai Chi, and eating plant-based food. The SW said to me to do some smoothies from a nutritionist. My next appt is in Jan 2023, where I will ask the doctor a host of questions. I'm glad you are a doctor, and I plan to continue watching your RUclips. There were so many good things that I was preparing to do turning 60.

Hello Dr. I stumbled across your page in the last week. I was recently diagnosed with a Stat 3 gene mutation associated with a blood cancer. Their not for certain 100% if I have leukemia. They're monitoring me for now. I hope you're doing well. Thank you for posting the video when you were in the hospital sharing your research & posting the juicing recipe. I bought the ingredients & juiced them yesterday & I'm starting my first glass today. Thanks again & wish you well!

Thank you so much for this video! I’m glad you are speaking about your pre diagnosis symptoms and post diagnosis symptoms. This is so helpful to know. Doctors have been trying to figure out if I have this T cell LGL leukemia. I have rheumatoid arthritis. The neutropenia started in 2017 but I wasn’t referred to a hematologist/oncologist until August 2020. Then after bone marrow biopsy they believed it was Felty syndrome. I didn’t have gene rearrangement. I was treated with rituximab in 12/2020 and 6/2021. I responded but then had repeated sinus infections. In Mid 2022 they repeated the Gene rearrangement testing now it is positive. Weirdly my neutrophils are still normal range but I do have anemia still and low B12. I have had the fatigue as you described progressively got worse until February 2019 I could no longer exercise and had difficulty staying awake etc. Even after the Rituxan infusions I’m just as tired as before and the infections are constant. Anemia is still unresolved. I had been asking my rheumatologist and primary care doc why I was so fatigued and it was getting worse even though they said my RA was controlled! I was told to see a mental health because I was also very depressed and anxious. No one looked into an iron panel etc.

Ok wait.. so what's going on with the Hemolytic Anemia?? Or Hemolysis? Are you still having to just go round and round with the blood transfusions? Are you gonna take the Methotrexate again? Or will it not work as good as first time? Or?? Sorry to ask so many things. If you can't answer it's ok.

I am a skeleton now. Can’t put on weight. Not my intention. 3 yrs ago, I was very active until now. Extreme fatigue and in bed 10-12 hrs a day. Won’t kill me but might as well since I really don’t have a life now.

Can I ask what lab showed your lgl cancer? I’m waiting on my diagnosis right now and have a horrible doctor. Was rare large granular lymphocytes a tell?

My apologies for the delayed reply @jennifertombaugh1744! Somehow I missed your comment. I hope you're doing well.
Initially, I was diagnosed with a bone marrow biopsy sample and flow cytometry. Sometime later I saw Dr. Thomas Loughran (he co-discovered LGLL) who confirmed the diagnosis with an LGLL-specific flow cytometry test and a TCRG gene clonality assay.
