Same but I catch it when the person is facing away from me so I’m basically in side control with gift wrap I always just get stuck there I only know the back take and triangle from there but never end up getting the submission
For all the white belts here, just start experimenting a bit. Think about some of the submissions you already know (armbar, triangle, etc.) and try to get to the same position from the gift wrap. You'll make some mistakes, you'll let the other guy escape sometimes, but thinking critically about what goes into each submission is a huge step for being able to attack from all positions. Try to extrapolate and get into the familiar finish from the unfamiliar set-up. And as always, don't forget to ask your coach when you have questions 😉

@@ethanwilson4418 It's great for ground and pound, and you can transition into a head and arm choke, or an easy arm bar. You can also take the back.

For the arm triangle it can work but it will be more challenging to finish. You can still use it to set up the pass and then finish from mount.
