Currently leveling a ranger in presearing to 20. i plan for it to be the first character on which i 100% the entire game, including gwamm, all sidequests, etc. this will be fun :)
I am so grateful for this video. I used to play a lot back in the day aand decided to go back to my ranger, but I was used to playing a barrage with pet build and honestly was kinda used to the somewhat mediocre damage and was getting kind of bored. I tried the prepared shot with read the wind and it is amazing. Finally have the motivation to continue my gwamm journey. Thank you!
hey what a great guide i loved playing ranger in gw, and ive just returned to game after leaving in 2012 this has really helped me get back into game thx for all the work you have put into your guides much appriciated :) subbed
Hey, first of all, thank u for keeping this game alive. I've played it as a kiddo, till this day, with breaks (It may sound funny, cause im 20, lmao). Just wanted to say, if u need any help with graphic design, or maybe voiceover, to make videos even better and clear, give me a sign bro. I would love to help. :D

Hey, thx! You got discord? would pm you, or join mine? discord.gg/B9nPBmu
As always, you're being absolutely brilliant at what you are doing. I was quite hyped when you anounced Ranger would be the next as mine will leave pre quite soon ! This almost makes me want to leave pre lvl 18 haha
You forgot about the best R/E build where you use fire bow with kindle arrows and conjure flame, and hex enemies with mark of rodgort then every arrow you shoot does big damage and sets them on fire. Best use with double shot/tripple shot. Your Elite is Glyph of Energy so you can reduce cost of mark, and of course meteor shower!
@@Luchiop It's a fun build but not really the best. It's awkward because you need to split attribute points 4 ways. I'd recommend 12 expertise (9, +1 from headgear, +2 from a major rune. 12 is the breakpoint where 10 energy skills are reduced to only costing 5), 12 wilderness survival (10 +2 from major rune. 12 WS is the breakpoint to get 3 seconds burning from Incendiary Arrows, which I would recommend using). 10 Marksmanship (9 +1 from minor rune. Get a req 9 bow, with a fire string. I like shortbows as they reload faster). 8 Fire magic. After setting these attributes you can do a few different skillbars. For maximum AoE damage take Conjure flame, Ignite arrows and incendiary arrows. This creates so many small packets of damage and burning all over the place. If you instead want to do better single damage, take Conjure flame, Kindle arrows, tripple shot, duel shot. The remaining skill slots are open but there are good options. In both cases you probably want to increase your attack speed too so you hit more often. If you are ok to use consumables (alcohol) use drunken master. Or you can use Never Rampage Alone, the sunspear skill, however this also requires having a pet so just stick comfort animal on the bar too, even though you have no (or very little) beast mastery rank, the pet can still tank some damage for you and enables NRA to work, though the pet itself will deal tiny damage. Alternatively you can bring some fire spells, mark of rodgort for AoE burning, maybe firestorm, searing heat, or meteor shower, but you will need glyph of lesser energy or the elite version to fuel the spells. Also, a necro BiP hero will help greatly with your own energy in all cases.
oh i would LOVE if people would start playing guild wars 1 again. i played it so many hours and i loved it so much. a year ago i went online, and all the main hot spots were dead empty. and i got really sad.
Kamadan is really busy, just head over to the American district. Besides that, you will find so much more people to play with on Discord and Reddit. Just a little warning: people really take elitism to a whole new level.
psst, look into the serpent's quickness stance, you end up having to use dwarven stability with it too, but that shortened recharge lovely... triple shot, with a splinter weapon on you is a 150-160 aoe damage bomb to anyone near target :D i love it though, and for all that is good thank you for not encouraging conditions o.-
I'm trying to find good bow builds for ranger, I'm sure I had one back when my ranger was new but I didn't save it, it might have been a mixture of bow and pet skills. Tao bow spammer isn't bad but it isn't very engaging just 1 2 3 4 repeat, people hate on dagger spam but its fun because you have to consider AoE, positioning, tanking, and whether enemy is blocking. I just had a funny idea for a build though, touch ranger with expertise sword prominence and some pve only skills like touch of guile, dwarven headbutt, maybe use the monk bond skill that gives you adrenaline.
Nice. Thanks for that great Video. Keep it going man! Maybe next time you can add how to skill a ranger as hero. If there is a video about necro or mesmer I would love to have a part about how to skill them as hero for pve for example.

Thx, well I never really use a ranger hero, sadly they are not that good. If I have to(for some nf missions) then I give them a prepared shot build but too lazy to rune them :D
@ Sure one barely use the Ranger as hero. But I thought about future videos, maybe necro or mesmer. They are very powerful as heros. Players like me, who are coming back to gw1 after years, are struggeling to find their way back in the game. Hero builds you find online are often outdated or not functional anymore. So a hero-build for pve would be a very good addition to your video about every class. Maybe a "comeback"-Video with useful tips, build-recommendations and equip-recommendations will trigger some players who are thinking about playing this gem again. Thanks Peter for your work and these fantastic videos. I love to watch and adapt :) You all have a nice holiday and a merry christmas!

Merry xmas, good ideas, those will be seperate vids though. These profession guides are kind of too long already.
There is a correct answer to the question of "which bow is best?": Flatbow + Read the Wind: highest DPS, longest range, and the double arrow speed from RtW more than makes up for the slow arrow speed of the Flatbow.
A great video. Thank you very much for it. I am also one of the "returnees" after many years. And now I have two questions for you (or others here). I am sure I have tamed all the animals in GW. But I don't know anything about a racing beetle. Where can I catch one? And I am also unsure about one thing. The Ebon Battle Standard of Honor, do I have to unlock it for every character or can I do it with a book? Thanks in advance for the answers!
the racing beetle is awarded to you from playing a mini game during the boardwalk games. personally i went with unlocking with zaishen coins cause i couldn't be bothered :/ and the EBSoH is attached to your Ebon Vanguard title, as such is it required you unlock it on each character..... sadly...
@@sepheroth101 Thank you very much for the quick answer. That is very kind of you. Could you also tell me where I can unlock it with Zaishen? Guild Wiki only says that it is possible at the New Year. And I have to capture the Ebon skill again. I would like to try out one of your builds for the Mesmer. And unfortunately he's not very far along in EotN yet. 10 years ago I was almost only on the road as a 55-hp or Assa.^^
Nice touch with the Fraps icon for the oldschool trapper showcase.

A few minutes ago I was thinking about starting another Ranger (after years) and now this Video comes out. Nice timing :D

pre is love, pre is life!
If I made it to 18 in pre, I'd stay until 20
Honor mention would be a Bunny thumper build, back in the day we used it in PVP.
Thank you for sharing the link on the recent video :) i am now keen to play beast master ranger cuz it seems to be most fun
Cant wait for the mesmer video!
Great work Peter. Keep it up.
Merry Christmas from Germany :-)
Thanks and merry xmas!
Great Video, thanks Peter!
Another suggestion: maybe you could mention some hero builds/purposes.
See you next time!

PvE mobs usually have strong counters to either hexes or conditions, so not something I would normally run.
Hello Péter! Awesome video!
Very cool, I mained Ranger 5 of my 7 years in game, and definitely got some good ideas out of this vid.
(not so) patiently awaiting the Ritualist guide :3
haha sorry but rit is the 8th, plenty of others before rit, I follow this order btw: wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Profession
@ yeaaaaa i figured D:
All good though. I used your SOS farm video as somewhat of a guide of what build to use for casual PvE.

My favorite team casual build, barrage and pet way. 6 rangers with 6 pets all with barrage, 1 MM, and one LoD Monk with some condi removal.
The new elite for rangers makes dagger spam op cuz its got damage and hp regen

Great Guide Peter! Do you have these builds templates(.txt) for all your guides? There are some nice build Ideas there are no available on PVX.
is there a nicer skin, than dragos flatbow? I don't think so ;)
Can't wait for dervish
sadly derv is last, i'm following this order: war, ranger, monk, necro, mes, ele, assa, rit, para, derv
Did I hear you right a ranger can solo full clear underworld doa and fow?
yes they can solo uw, fow, doa too

I prefer a recurve and save the skill slot.
Great video 🏆
Love them!
ele next !!
It's really hard to call it for new players, cause I can't understand a thing 😅
The anniversary élite Can only captured on anniversary périod ? So long to wait lol
Luckily not! Visit the boss with someone, who has the item in his/her inventory.
@ thx :) someone help me to capture at kamadan for 2e...but in ranger this élite is so cool
