Wow! Just ….. wow! I’ve had this exact issue on my Giant Yukon for the past 2 years and tried everything to fix it. This video was the answer. Thank you so much!
Many thanks for the video. The lock ring was ok, but I hadn’t put the the second smallest cog on properly and it was causing the upper jockey wheel to jump. Couldn’t understand why til I watched your video and checked them all.
Thanks for this video! I had the same issue and finally got around to taking a look and I suspected the problem. This post confirmed. Changed it out and problem gone.
My guess (paused video at 1m20s) the cassette is too close to the chainstay, the Ultegra derailleur cannot move to that extreme... OK time to watch the rest of the video!
What could explain my issue which is shifting works perfectly on the bike but when I put it on a trainer with the exact same 12 speed cassette it makes sounds and rubs the front Derreailur on the top and bottom gears ⚙️… I’ve tried everything. This is now the third cassette and again it matches my bikes cassette.
never swap lockrings, same speed or not with the same brand or different brands for same speed. may damage (crack) the freehub because thread between lockring and innerhub are not exact the same and you try to overthight when there is no more thread to play. Use the lockring supplied with the cassete when you bought it and no other.

Glad I could help.

Really appreciate this video. Exactitude! How important and hard to spot. (I'm a noob with wrenching; just trying to learn and grow in all this.)

Can the problem happen between 8th & 9th gear? Thanks in advance.
No that would be caused by something else
it was seen from the space
