- Hey Everyone
Here's a little Tech Tip video to show you how to adjust your throttle cables on a EFI Sportster to make sure your getting all the Horsepower out of your bike that you can.
People who can explain things sensibly are few and far between. Thank You.
this is hands down THE BEST explanation video on this subject. Straightforward and extremely easy to understand. Look forward to purchase a hammer performance 1275 kit for my sportster 👍
Best throttle adjustment video on youtube!
I searched 'adjust throttle cables on harley davidson ' and watched 2 prior to this one . First one was 2 posers talking about themselves and couldn't see what he was doing. Second one was a bit better but i still didn't get it. I watched yours and thank you very much for explaining and SHOWING how to do it . Thanks again.
Simple, fast and to the point, thank you.
Thanks for posting this, I was able to fix how the dealer adjusted it wrong.
Damn! Straight to the point! Thank you so much I’ll be doing that when i get home this afternoon.
Just did this to my 883, it was indeed not opening the throttle body fully. I fixed it!
Thanks for all the help you give :)

Frickin’ genius.
Good to Know !
Right on Brother✊
Would adjusting the throttle cables as you explained affect the tuned throttle calibration on a Dynojet PC5 map? Thanks!
Thank you sir!
Thank you. Is this the same adjustment to use on a 2002 1200 with a carb?
I was reading elsewhere where you want a "Crack of daylight" between the bell crank and the stop, (with the throttle twisted all the way open) or it's hard on the cable.
So can I just adjust my 2002 like you did here? Make sure when the throttle it twisted all the way open, My carb bell crank should be all the way against the stop (at the carb)?
Thank you so much...
Ive adjusted mine but it still has alot of play before it actually starts pulling the cable and im on the last thread or two from the adjuster coming undone
just did it on my 2007 RG. it fixed my cruise control problem also. couldn't get the cruise to disable. switch on cable wasnt making contact because of the extra slack in the cable.
just earnt yourself a subscription
Great video. I have a question. My first HD 2009 cvo springer softtail has 1580 miles. It wants to lunge on gear engaged. It seems to be perhaps idling too high? I dont know how to adjust it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. And sorry for the newb question
On these EFI bikes, the idle is controlled by the ECM. To adjust it, you need to get a tuner, which is a good idea anyway, it helps even a bone stock bike. We recommend the Dynojet Powervision, it's the best tuner on the market and is loaded with capabilities and features. The other possibility here though is the clutch. Do a complete adjustment on it per the service manual procedure.
Can you run into the same issue with fly-by-wire throttles? In other words, is there something you need to do to adjust the throttle position sensors for an electronic throttle?
I am having the same issue with my 2018 fxlr ...has some play in the throttle. I noticed it after messing with the housing as I repositioned my bars and grips. Having an easy time staying out of the shop so far and avoiding those 300 dollar oil changes, I imagine.
Having problems with the on 2011 street glide throttle by wire
I need help I have an 08 1200 custom and I have a rusted idle cable and the adjuster at the grip will not turn tried liquid wrench WD40 etc and no luck. Tried to find a video to replace cables on an EFI Sportster and cant find any videos for cable replacement only for carbed bikes and only adjustment on EFI bikes. Help me please
the cables on a carb bike and EFi bike are basically the same. They will hook up to the throttle body or carb the same way. They hook up to the throttle grip the same way as well. The only difference may be the length of the cables.
@@HAMMERPERFORMANCE Thank you I appreciate the info
My issue is , the throttle won’t snap back
Experiencing a hiccup while riding at low rpm, and while turning with low throttle
how many went out and twisted the throttle and checked just outa paranoia 😂
