I heard one interesting theory concerning the movie version of The Mouth. He once was human, but constantly speaking the Black Tongue has literally corrupted the form of his mouth, making it what we see today - a black, rotten, oversized maw which is the focus of the character.
This character could be the son of a noble lord of Umbar. Sauron could have taken him as a political prisoner to guarantee loyalty. This would explain why he doesn't remember his past or who he is. Sauron would have raised and molded him into what he wished. I love the movie version of this character, because it really expands on him and gives him more depth. It is possible through sorcery and rituals to enhance his abilities. The lack of sight enhanced his ability to listen very thorough, the scars around the mouth suggest ritualistic scarring to maybe enhance his ability to manipulate in diplomacy.
His name was Ned. Nice enough kid but he was quiet and awkward. Had an unhealthy obsession with Legos. Oh and he couldnt pee at the urinals if there was anyone else in the bathroom.
He could have used dark sorcery to extend his life. I always imagined that he would be a good choice for a Fourth Age dark lord. Yes, he wouldn't have Sauron's power, but could still do a lot of damage if not stopped.
Thanks for the video. For me the Mouth of Sauron is an illusion conjured by Sauron so that he can directly communicate with his enemies. MoS is only seen once and that is at the edge of Mordor, so I wpuld expect Sauron could weald his magic that far
That's an interesting idea, but Sauron was the type to use others to do his bidding because he was unable to take physical form after his defeat at the hands of the Last Alliance.
But could it be that the mouth of Sauron would be one of the elves corrupted by Morgoth? It would explain why he forgot his past life, was feared and had probably great magic skills and why Sauron trusted him with so much power.. I mean i think it is strange that Sauron gives so much power to a Númenòrian..
It's possible he might literally be a part of Sauron, which might explain why he won't fight because he isn't truly living or anything other than a convincing puppet.
Cool video, has some details that I hadn't heard about him before. One nitpick though, Dark Lord should always be preceded by "The" when talking about an action Sauron does. It's a title, not a name, so like you would say "The King ordered that" or "The President signed an order to", you'd use "the" in front of dark lord.
The interest in the Mouth of Sauron isn’t just because of the cool design in the movie. IMO, a lot of it stems from the character having a cool name and little written about him. I imagine if that had he just been called “Sauron’s herald or emissary,” we wouldn’t have carried as much.
He is Obviously Sauron resurected, probably from a Dead human Numinorian king of old!.. Sauror has this power, as he has power over the Witchking , who has the power over the Barrow spirits! I rather like Jackson's vervion than the written version, as this Dude was much more Creepy, as he should be! = Sauron Embodyment or Possession = both the same! = "He IS SAURON"! However, This does not mean that Sauron can not be in 2 places at once whithin his realm, but could be side tracked a bit?? Just an observation.
Its that lieutenant of baradur for me! For morgoth his 2 top lieutenants for angband where Sauron and Gothmog so being such a weak man he must have had one sick mind to be Sauron lieutenant! Thats my therory that there is no mouth of sauron just Sauron and its a walking corpse! He used the rings to do it secretly over time which is what he did in numenor...Sauron always plays the long game!
i havent read lord of the rings for like 20 years but i always hought this guy in the book turns out to be an ORC pretending to be a nazgul.. so when i watched it on the movie i was sure they got it completely wrong.. (or am i thinking of a different part of the book?)
Well since we're speculating here.... Then let's speculate. A mouth or spokesman generally is someone that's always close to the source....like a brother or family....so with that being said that does beg the question of was this the Son of Sauron? Is it possible he sired a Son like Melian has Luthien? Is it Possible Sauron had Dark Elf Concubines? So could the Mouth be a Dark Immortal Elf sired by Sauron or just annointed by him....if the Mouth is Superior to the Witch King then this makes sense....I personally wouldn't think he is a Black Numenorian first off didn't all the Numenorians die when Eru sunk Numenor anyway? And if Tolkien mentioned who he was this is not Cannon because its not in the published book... And it's been so long since I read the actual book LOTR I can't remember if it mentions that but irregardless Tolkien was notorious for flip-flopping. Another possibility is that he was a Maier....It wasnt just Balrogs who joined Morgoth there were ones like Sauron who joined also and at ANY time these lesser Ainur can come down to Arda and join the fight on either side..... These are the possibilities that I think the Mouth is ...I don't think he is a black Numenorian.... And if I am correct and he survived.... That would be a Sinister thing and this could be the next chapter in the Middle Earth Saga.
His being a Black Númenórean is not a speculation, it is part of Tolkien lore (see "The Black Gate Opens" in The Return of the King). The part Tolkien didn't tell us about is how old he was, and there is some debate as to whether he is from the original Black Númenóreans, using sorcery to extend his life, or whether he is simply a descendant of them from the late 3rd Age. I hope this clarifies things. :)
The witch king broke Gandalf’s staff and would have killed him, whereas the Mouth lost his head to Aragorn. I don’t think the Mouth was more powerful than the Witch King.
The video did say that he fate was much different in the book than the movie. In the book, he went back into Mordor and that was the last anyone saw of him in the story.
Sauron really needs to offer his minions better dental coverage.

In "A Guide to Middle Earth" by Robert Foster, he is described as a Black Numenorean.
He is one of my most favorite characters.
Has anyone ever considered that Sauron disguised himself as the Mouth of Sauron just to size up his enemies in person without revealing himself?
I don’t think Sauron is able to take a body anymore.
@@bamchap3700 Sauron can’t take a “fair form” by the Third Age, but the Mouth of Sauron can hardly be considered“fair.”

Excellent stuff! Love your work man ❤️
His name is Robert Paulson.

the book clearly states that he is a human. so there is no possibility that he is an elf living since the 1st age (or before).
@@middleearthtales ou ok thanks :)
There is a suspicion that the Mouth is the son of Ar-Pharazôn.
It's possible he might literally be a part of Sauron, which might explain why he won't fight because he isn't truly living or anything other than a convincing puppet.
I did enjoy your cast! Good work! Keep it up! Always give ya a thumbs up if this is what you present!
Thank you Joshua!

He got his head cut off…
Movie only
He’s a black Numenorian
If they already had Sam and Frodo then they would already have the ring and game over 🤦♂️
my vote is he is a black Numenorean

The lord of the rings trilogy
Could it be that a Dwarf ring of power could have been used to prolong and ensure life?
looks like he forgot how to brush his teeth too.

A ring could stretch his age
Tell me what that mouth do, tho.

Do you have a treat for me?? Well, then I have a trick for you!! 😮😮😮😅😅😅😊😊😊
😂😂I know, it is Xi Ron 😂😂😂😂 just kidding 😂
He could be one of the first elves that was taken by morgoth and tortured and twisted.
He's a Black Numenorean, not an Elf.

If I remember in the books argorn cuts his head off
No, not in the book, but in the movie, it happens as you say.
In the movie . Which isnt cannon .

Are you usibg an ai voice because it sounds like it ?
Difficult to call them "your" thoughts when YOU don't actually read them. Listen to the other Lord of the Rings readers then lose the puter voice.
