- On today's episode we venture across the farm yard to the new and shiny Corvette for an almost larger than life construction project, plus we visited Tabletop and Grandpa's Farm to determine the fate of our early planting season, fixed the 5th wheel plate on our Freightliner semi, brushed up on what being a modern day farmer entails, and stained wood for the dryer shack.

Y'ALL ARE AMAZING.... Y'ALL AREN'T FARMERS.... Y'ALL ARE QUANTUM EXPLORERS. I'M IMPRESSED!!! ALWAYS, PROUD OF Y'ALL.
DC not even explaining the blue top hat is perfect! Hahahaha
Was that part of Cooper's prom get-up?
Cooper is out of high school now, isn't he ?
I didn't want to say anything in case no one noticed the blue hat but DC may be part leprechaun !
@@denp54z It was a year or two ago when he got all dolled up.
😂...DC just casually talking about staining and the baby blue top hat had me busting up!
Don't worry Cole I have faith I know you all will do the best that you can with everything in your control. You're good people and you work hard. God bless
Call I am not a farmer but when I started watching your RUclips I have learned so much about farming and you teach very well and I grasp things that you say better than some other RUclips farmers keep it up and you’re all very educational and very good mechanics I definitely enjoy your RUclips thank you
Never have a complaint about any of your video's. I watch a few families on RUclips love them all but my Cornstar family is number 1.
You are so wise for your young age that I am amazed every time.
I think you are very wise to study the soil charts because if you're not always improving things you're going backwards. There is so much more to farming than we ordinary people will ever know. Thanks for teaching us some of it !
Doing the science and understanding why and planning for how to do make things better is important!
There are so many factors in making things grow optimal, and you need to be on top of all of them to maximize your potential.
You guys are great. Love Daddy Constar's blue top hat!!
You have to work the soil in the fall to prep for the spring---that corn field you were looking at would have been uniformly dry instead of having corn bedding with frozen ground because it wasn't somewhat buried and conditioned properly. The early planting is 75% right year after year..If you are going to optimize yields, you have to put the time in with fall's work!
That unmistakeable honesty of Daddy Cornstar at the beginning 😂👌👌👌👌
I’m setting in my recliner in NC. Our state is 80% done with corn. Bean planting is ahead of average. It is just wild how everything varies from area to area.
Cole you are amazing, but I love your Dad, he makes me smile 😃❤️🇦🇺 Andrea
Another journey into the details of farming. A peek inside the decisions to be made to make the farm better, more profitable and likely, easier to manage. Thanks Cole for taking time to tell about your ideas. That cabinet in the garage(?) is beautiful.
The more Cole and the other FarmTubers can inform/educate us and the wider public on how hard/risky/expensive and downright hard work farming is to produce the food on our tables. The more (I hope) people will appreciate them and understand what they do for us. Without the likes of Cole and family, Welkers,, Zac MNMillenial Farmer in the US and Tom Pemberton etc in the UK, millions of everyday suburban/city folk would have zero idea of what goes into and where their food comes from.
I'm lucky that I come from aa farming area and from a family with farming links(Butchers/meat trade) so I have some idea of the struggle.
Welcome, welcome to all the newcumbers!!!
Great video. This spring is slow to warm. I appreciate learning what goes into keeping the soil optimal for years to come. Your Corvette and meeting space, break room will be so nice once it gets completed. Good job Cornstars.
I’ve been watching your channel since you were ‘Cooooollllllle The Cornstar, a 21 year old farmer’, and I think this was one of my favourite videos. Thanks for being you - an authentic Colestar.
I live in the Southern San Joaquin Valley of California where farming is big business. I learn so much from your channel. These day I can understand some of what they talk about. Thank you. God bless you all.
Have a good night Cole and family.
Who ever is that handsome gentleman in the top hat??? I’m swooning over here. DC you made my day.❤️
Cole, you are incredibly articulate, explaining the variables of planting crops and the cost. I understood everything you we're saying, and I'm thinking, how do you know all this, and you're only 24 years old. I am truly impressed.....keeping up with you're great video's, are an eye opener. 👁 👏🌱🌱👍👍
Young people can learn and accomplish incredible things. Unfortunately for the most part we send them messages that they are immature and most likely victims of some nebulous nonsense so they don't go seriously challenge themselves.
Great vid on educating non farmers how much more complicated it is to grow food for our nation and the world. I wish our ‘leaders’ in Washington DC would watch a few farming/ranching vids to help open their eyes onto the real world.
I can see Nancy Pelosi watching a farming/ranching video. LOL
Started Wednesday slow three half days each day but we got 1500acres in and 2300 more to go and beans about 1000 in 2000 more
Always thinking and planning ahead, love your approach to improvement in yield levels. Cooper is doing an awesome job on the truck. The bin shack is looking reeeeeel nice 😁😁😁😁
$8.17 corn now and no corn in the bins anymore
Hi Cole
I'm from Sweden and we only grew oats, barley and whete. The thing I noticed was that the earlier we did the planting, the higher yields we got. We only had 100 acres of black soil like yours but still it was a very clear connection.
Kindly Mikael
Thank y’all!
Were getting really hot and dry already this year, we had to quit planting beans because we ran out of moisture, and the early planted corn is now about knee high but is starting to roll up pretty bad in the late afternoon already, we've got a small chance of rain Sunday, then the forecast is hot and dry for all of next week, thank God for crop insurance 😆
Cole there is many parts of farming and they have changed over the years and data of yields and understanding them is important.
I love how Cole and the family are such good stewards of the land.
Great lesson today Cole on the importance of research for your work in planning for the future. Thanks.
Just watching bad extreme weather passing over you all and many of our RUclips farming friends & their families. I hope everybody makes it through unscathed and help the dry ones in down in Kansas with their " moisture deficits " !
Imbibitational Chilling Injury. 50 Deg F is the critical temp. Always loved that term. :)
Love the hair cuts, guys.
Soil building.....sounds like the permaculture guys.😍
I grew up on a dairy/cash crop farm. Lots of natural manure to replenish the fields. Loved the corn cob mulch for the flower beds. And when the cows were in the front orchard/pasture they did an excellent job trimming the trees and eating the apples and pears. One summer was very wet, the corn grew like crazy and we filled those silos. The weight of theirn squeezed and compacted the corn chop. Fluids eased out from the bottom drains.....and cooked in the sun......whereupon I saw happy cows staggering around very tipsy. Life on the farm has its funny momments.
Thank you Cornstar family. I work with farmers, however I don’t farm. You help educate me and I use the information to talk with my farmers in PA and OH. Much appreciated
I wish we had a Justin n our life. 🤗💕🦋
Glad too see your thinking big picture when your thinking dirt.
SPOT ON, details matter. Manage the soil for sure.
Good luck with your plantings. Will keep you and all the farmers in my prayers.
Incredible insight into the logistics and planning that go into a farm business! I feel like I'm at the same point as you Cole with our farm over here in NY. Love the videos! It's nice to know there are other people out there as crazy as me.
Today you remind us about oreparation, planning, and making things better for the furure. Your willingness to address the farms needs far beyond yourown lifetime is the stuff rural schools need to demonstrate every season.
No farmers, no food, no clothes, less fuel.
Cole I always enjoy watching your videos and how The farm is doing I 🇺🇲
My grandpa always had a tried-true method to tell if the ground was warm enough for planting. He'd pull down his pants and sit in the dirt with a bare butt (not around us, o' course). If it was uncomfortable after a few minutes, it was too early.
A very informative video. I really enjoyed it. thanks and hope you have a super planting season and growing season.
Cole your doing the right thing by studying the soil and what your area is doing for yields
Also working the ground warms it up also puts oxygen in to it
I thought I knew how farms work but you have enlightened me to so many things I didn't know. Thanks for teaching us! I have watched every one of your videos and I'm still excited to see the next one! God bless you and yours!
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME THANK YOU FOR JUST BEING WHO YOU ARE. GOD BLESS YOU ALL
I'm alway amazed by the amount of planning and work it takes to get things done.
Nice hat DaddyCorn Star.
Cole, great to see you staying on top of expenses. I am sure your grave digging expenses was an eye opener.
Another great video. Thanks for sharing with us
It's all coming together Cole and daddy cornstar
I think you should call the new room at the bin site the “Corn Crib”
Corn hole cause they got screwed over so bad
Nope it definitely needs to be called corn hub 😂🤣
You have some beautifull black soil cole ❤
Imagine how much knowledge you'll have in 50 years good job kiddo
I can understand the importance of taking care of the soil. I enjoyed watching the video and DC, I love your hat. Big thumbs up crew, you will be planting very soon and it will be awesome. I'm glad you didn't talk about math , it's my enemy lol. Say hi to MC and Nave for me. I'm missing both of the ladies.
I live here in Vegas I've been following you for about 2 years now I believe Just retired in august after 32 years of cutting beef
Soil samples, quality charts, nutrient replenish, all part of being a good farmer, and a great Stewart of soil conservation.
Plan with the future in mind, that's good planning!
Awesome building happy planting
Gday Cornstars,,
DC,, the hat ,very cool.
Great episode, soil looked pretty nice ,
Planting very soon by the looks ,
Best wishes for the season ahead .

Daddy Cornstarch, never heard of the pudding container pun before!! Good one! Since I significantly north of you, our planting season is late May! Most of what we plant is corn for silage, for the dairy operations we have here! God Bless you all!!🙏👍😊
Hit the fields with a heavy harrow , that will resolve the crusty surface, excessive moisture, and speed up the soil warming up
Agreed. HH are the best seed bed prep tool out there.
Usually, the weather in California is farm favorable nearly all year round. However, one year in the late 70's, a violent spring storm came in at the end of planting season and dropped a record amount of rain and hail in just one afternoon. The end result was that thousands of acres of planted cotton was now under water. When the ground dried, it left a hard crust which the seeds could not push through. All those acres had to be replanted at great expense.
Yes between electronics and agronomy that takes alot of office time. It's cool to see Cole and DC in the field talking dirt. DC the new Sir Toppin' Hat.
Cole, your a boss.. Keep doing what your doing!!! Great job man!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Seeing some corn growing. Some are trying to get ground ready for cotton in North Mississippi
Another awesome video Cole! Love the hat DC! We are happy to be receiving moisture here in Central Nebraska. Won't be long before your soil temps are up. Bless you folks and the crops....
Cole thank you guys so much for the entertaiment and a much needed escape. On april 14th 2022 I left driving my stepfather to breakfast ., and 1/4 of a mile frome my house a tree fell on my car killing him instantly. I have had a hard time sleeping and working and just day to day. I can always count on you guys to take my mind off of things. I hope that everyone that watches you on youtube will hug family members every day and tell them you love them ..we are not promised our next breath...thanks again
🙏💙
I like when DC works with his Son. Those are the best Videos imo. Great Editing Cole
I hate it when your hand accidentally gets in the pudding.😂 that’s why I always buy 2 ply!
3-ply the way to go. 😎
Love your Top Hat DC!! Makes you look very dapper!! Hopefully soon you will be able to plant!!
Godspeed Cornstars.
I I'd wait another four days.☀
Always install the faucet before you set your sink one its easier to install while its out and two you'll know for sure everything fits properly
DC you're lookin' dapper in your top hat!! Don't feel bad about the planting situation! Here in Indiana we've git a frost warning coming and rain again! Can't risk a replant😥
Love that hat.
We had frost this week in East Central Iowa!
When DC rolls up his sleeves...😉
Thanks a lot for the video! 😊👍🏻
Love the Hat DC. Yall have a great weekend. Gonna be a chilly one here in NC.
Another very interesting side of farming the information given is way more than I knew was needed to farm 🌾 and soybeans. Thank you for the updates
Here in NW Ohio we haven’t planted a single seed yet on any of our fields but we have been able to put preplant anhydrous on about 320 acres the last two days and got some spraying done as well on our bean acres.
Love your videos
I live in an area that is high in limestone. In order to get my little garden and lawn to produce, I've spent over $1k in chemicals the past three years to buffer the pH and to insert Iron and Manganese, as well as potash and nitrogen.
I finally saw an improvement in yields for sweet corn, pole beans, and tomatoes.
Next year, 5 acres of sweet corn for the local farmers market but each acre planted a week apart.
Should have brought in some top soil and mixed it with peat .
Been planting for a week now. Mostly beans and some corn . We like to do all of our higher yielding bean fields early as they tend to to way better . We aren't growing much corn this year Mostly soybeans wheat and black beans. Great video keep up the good work!
Good content, Cole!
Adam Smith noted that our current "new age" began with the rationalization of farming. I love to watch how y'all manifest this truth in your videos. How Wonderful.
A lot of things to think about. Awesome staining looks good.
Great video as usual!
So cool that you took us out into the dirt to see how Iowa is getting ready for seed. I remember last year being a long cold and wet spring, God knows what He’s doing 😉
good job thanks
DC’s top hat looks good on him👍
I wonder if any of the companies making round steel grain bins have tested one in a wind tunnel?
About 10 years ago I built a scale wind tunnel to try to measure the wind resistance on a model of an F150 with and without a topper on it. The fan I had wasn’t strong enough to be able to measure anything noticeable. I even had an ounce scale connected to an L shaped piece of cardboard. It was a fun thing to do. It would need a really strong fan to make it work.
great video Cole. thank you
Hate it when you stick you hand in the pudding cup. Hahahaha
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always 🌽 🌟
You know how a person can tell if your from Iowa. When your outlets are all upside down. LOL
Professor Cole the CornStar!
Land management and maintenance is very important for the future of farming or there will be no more future. There will be a dust bowl!
And that hat. DC is the new hotness!!
I like the hat dad had on while staining.
Slooow process finishing the corvette. Y’all have a lot more patience than I do
