I have Skied all over North America, and I must say Eaglecrest is in my top 5. I grew up there in the 80's and skied hundreds of times at that mountain. Memories Ill never forget. As far as I know mr and my Friends were the first people to Snowboard at Eaglecrest back in 1985. We made it till about noon and the mountain manager called us in to his office and told us we couldnt do that because it was to dangerous. Within weeks more people started showing up with snowboards and they finally allowed them on the Mountain. Shout out to Jim and John Gute who boarded with me back then. Good times!

We had the same thoughts and intentions when inviting everyone to come share Mt Baker with us in the late 80"s, mag's and filming, God help you locals, they're coming, Baker is blown out in less than a hour, any given day, cheers good luck! AK is special, I heli-ed out of Eagle crest back in early 90's , amazing place and people! ALASKA the last frontier!

I want to see aurora and I am going to move to the USA. I know that Aurora happens in Alaska however for me the most important thing is skiing. Decided to research and I see these cool slopes 🤤 Now I have chosen where exactly I am going to move.

Happy to see Mark Landvik again, I saw Mark for the first time in That's it That's all.
In The Art of Flight he blew my mind.
For me he always have been a influence for me as a rider.
His style and skills are awesome.
I would like to see him on new snowboard movies.
My best wishes for you Mark

I had to move away with my family, but I learned to ski at eaglcrest and it still feels like my home mountain. I've been doing east coast skiing and it's not even close to flying down waterfall or a trail that I've been doing since I was 3.

Al Shaw passed away on Feb 13 2024. He was very instrumental in getting Eagle Crest started.

I just hope this doesn't trigger a rush of unwelcome masses to such a gem. I pray for the locals. this video, however lovely, was probably not such a good idea.

I'm sure it'll be fine, maybe increase the total visitors for the season by 1-2k totally manageable while helping the local economy

Thankfully, we’re not nearly as accessible as most places, so winter visitors (who are welcomed!) are inherently sparse in general. We’re quite lucky to not have to worry about “blowing up.”

Look at airfare to Juneau. Look at cost of housing. This spot is safe from the hordes.

I wonder about that, too. This year I've met two groups from Outside, about a week apart from each other. Had a great time showing them the mountain a bit and seeing how stoked they got, but when I see videos of areas down south they look a bit dystopian, and I'm not sure we want to get discovered. As someone pointed out, though, we are a lot more remote than Mt. Baker: 600 miles of ocean does cut down on #vanlife. We'll see what develops.
