- It's going to take time for the Chargers new regime to build a contender, but true success is winning a Super Bowl within the next four years. The Chargers hired Jim Harbaugh to avoid wasting another great quarterback and a few seasons in, we will see the expectations ratcheted up to extreme levels. Dan and David answer their Fan Mail Friday questions including some big roster surprises coming up. One player who isn't a roster lock is Brenden Rice who could be the shocking cut when the deadline comes, but it's likelyeceeee between him and fellow rookie Cornelius Johnson. For this 45 year fan, initially, I want respect for this franchise. The past is done. I want teams to think, oh oh, we have the Chargers next week. No more sloppy play, bad decisions, bad clock management. Fear & respect. The wins will come.
How could you not be excited and think that we were going to not win our division next year? I mean the year before last we were one game away possibly two games away from winning our division with that roster ??!! so I have so much confidence in Jim Harbaugh, and the coaching staff and what they’re doing right now and I just see players acting a lot better and more positive. I think we’re going to win our division this coming season. We are going to control the clock most games and guys. We have not had a running game in years and we are going to have a solid offensive line to protect Justin Herbert and I just really think we are going to De-Throne the Chiefs this coming season. I believe the Chargers will be in the Super Bowl within the next two to three seasons. I remember his run in SF and other than 2014 it was nothing short of memorable even though they didn’t win a ring. That’s how great his teams are capable of being.
Excited doesn’t even begin to explain how hyped I am for the Harbaugh era to start week 1.
The Praise story is really cool. As awesome as I think it would be to see him make it as a returner that would take a slot away from another receiver who I think could currently make a difference on the actual offense as well and that returner is going to be Derius Davis. But Praise could definitely develop well with this team and find a way to make it one day

Parcells never won a Super Bowl after leaving the Giants. Harbaugh is just like that except he's never won the Super Bowl anywhere as a player or a coach.
@@Willtellthetruth as far as turnarounds go the Jets would exceed many expectations. Jim hasn’t coached for very long in the NFL but if you give it some time I’m sure that he can succeed if the owner management and coach are on the same page. Parcells is a winner. After the giants success the big tuna Parcells was reeled in to turn around franchises for owners that wanted stadium deals. He was more than just a coach.

Year 4 was my prediction to be in the super bowl also but after the draft they had I seriously think they could be in the super bowl by year 2. I think that's one year earlier than when harbaugh coached the 49ers

We will be ahead of schedule in every aspect you can think of. I don’t see why we can’t make it to the AFC championship game this year if I’m being honest. Herbo is finally gonna have a team that is fully complementary and is going to be far more successful, effective, and consistent. Herbo is more than capable of elevating every WR that’s on the team and will still have top 5 numbers. Justin Herbert and the Chargers will finally be undeniable in short order because we now have the greatest coach in franchise history

The Harbaugh glazing is so crazy! The Chargers have a BAD roster. Outside of OT they aren’t above average anywhere. Bosa is always hurt and Mack is at the end. Unless he can wave a magic wand and turn QJ into DHop they have no skill players! Harbaugh WAS a great coach 10 years for the 49ers, couldn’t ever get over the hump though. It’s a different league now and it feels like he’s trying to force a square peg into a round hole. The NFL also gifted him a CUPCAKE opening two games to help move things along. Wil be interesting to see if they can FINALLY compete in the division. Instead of just being media darlings…

@david I get that, but he’s been out of the league damn near a decade! He can’t win in today’s NFL playing offense like he did at Michigan. As a Chiefs fan I hope he takes the ball out of Herbert’s hands as much as possible!! He’s a great coach I just don’t know if the ‘3 yards and a cloud of dust’ style offense will work anymore. He made a couple great picks with Alt and McConkey though! Glad he didn’t grab Nabers for Herbert!!
@quintenruckman3505 it won't be exactly the same because he's never had a quarterback like Justin, but it will be different. You've got to be able to run the ball efficiently in the NFL. The goal is to emulate the Detroit offense. Great balance. Justin has had to do it on his own for way too long. A strong running game allows you to close out games and create more deception on your offense. The defense won't be completely incompetent this year either. That's going to result in more wins. He's gonna be successful. It's just who he is.
This year just feels like it will be tough because there’s no weapons for Herbert. The run game will be strong especially if Edwards and Dobbins can stay healthy. Could be a thunder and lightning duo like Zeke/Pollard. I think he will succeed there but the defense isn’t good. Bosa loves more off his brother’s name now since he can’t stay healthy, Mack is close to the end, and James is WAY overpaid. The LB core is awful and CBs are one of the worst collections in the league outside of ASJ. The cap problems are going to make this tough! I hope they can at least challenge my Chiefs this year. Division is getting boring, we NEED you guys! Broncos and Raiders are dumpster fires
@quintenruckman3505 you're bias is showing. Derwin is phenomenal. He was overassigned last year. He'll have a more singular focus this year and be much better. The corners will be improved by the scheme. The linebackers are young, athletic, and can hit and cover. Don't sleep on this team. They're much better than you're giving them credit for... you'll see though

Typical charger fan expectations will get it in a few years. Full Unni we get it now. First year we playoff bound second year AFC championship and trip to the Super Bowl. Don’t get me wrong. I think we’re moving in the right direction now with harbaugh. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if we do make playoffs, but there are more variables than harbaugh alone. Biggest factor is mahomes. I think the Chiefs will always win the division as long as mahomes is in it; unless he gets a season ending injury.
