The thing is, Aiden is no hero, he's a vigilante. He's also not a pacifist like most heroes and actually have blood on his hands, so i understand why in the end he's tired of it all.

Aiden is what a normal everyday human with no superpowers would be like! He had will and a broken heart, clear enough to fight for a better world that all started as a revenge quest! He'll always be one of my favorite video game characters!
And that same world he fought so hard for ended up being a losing fight because no matter how many times he put down the bad guys, another one will rise. Thats why he didn’t bother with stopping them anymore. “Some fights are worth losing.” Character depth!

If you've read the WD Stars And Stripes book, you'll know how much of a caring person he can be. However, he realises that his job as the vigilante is getting more difficult since of his age. He misses Damian, blames himself for the caused deaths, and acknowledges that these jobs are always the same bullsh*t. I won't spoil everything, but for every WD/Aiden fan out there, you gotta read this book. It's humorous at times and shows Aiden psychology a little further.

Aiden's story may be over. But I'm at least grateful that I got to experience it. It may be over but at least it ended on a high note. As sad as it is that the fox is probably gone forever but the truth is Aiden's story was never going to last forever. It had to end eventually and it's a saving grace that Ubisoft didn't end it with us seeing Aiden completely go past his limit as the Vigilante/fox and end up getting himself killed for nothing. Cause he already got revenge in the first game he's got no reason to fight anymore besides keeping Jackson safe I suppose.
