This was the performance that made Igor Krutoy (the bald guy in the white shirt in the audience - a famous Russian composer) come out of retirement, just so he could work with Dimash. He wrote many songs specifically for the unique voice of Dimash (Olimpico, Stranger, Ave Maria, Your Love, I Miss You among others), and he's often seen playing the piano in Dimash'es live performances.

The throat vocalization is called a Caprino, or goat trill, and is used in some parts of the Middle East to honor the dead or to celebrate the living. In this case it is for the original singer of Sinful Passion who died of a heart attack in 2015.

Dimash is a once-in-a-lifetime artist, that's for sure. He always manages to amaze the listener with his phenomenal vocals. He is also the most humble, down-to-earth and caring young man which, I think, adds even more to his appeal & popularity.
Yes, he trained as an Opera singer & was offered a place in the Astana Opera House, but he had also studied jazz & pop music too, so decided to pursue a neo-classic, crossover style of music & he does it so well.
Thank you so much! You are now a member of the Dears!! 😊🙏💞😊

That vocal part you paused on is a Death Chant, put in this song to honor the original singer who passed away. That was a 22 one breath run there at the end as well.
The man in the white shirt standing at the end , Igor Krutoy is seeing Dimash for the first time.
He's Russia's most famous living composers. After seeing Dimash here, he came out of retirement to start composing for Dimash.

👉Dimash's deep and gentle voice... I melt away. What a wonderful song, wonderfully sung by Dimash (Russian language). Did you hold your breath? 🤣 The final run was 23 seconds with one breath. 👏👏👏
Dimash sings here as a guest on the New Wave 2018 (international competition). Igor Krutoy, the man in the white shirt at the end, a famous Russian composer, music titan and initiator of the New Wave had invited him. Now, both are a "Dreamteam" and work together from time to time. They are friends, have a father-son-relationship.
... and of course Dimash donates the many flowers to hospitals and retirement homes.
The band that Dimash accompanies at this performance called A’Studio, who composed and performed “Sinful Passion” in 1998. The band is also from Kazakhstan (Dimash's homeland) and this Dimash performance has revived the song.
    *Original: A'STUDIO - Грешная страсть/ SInful Passion (pronounced: Greshnaya Strust) - ruclips.net/video/CN9fHwhna_M/видео.html
The glottal - stops is a throat singing technique called "bleating", “goat's trill” or „Trillo caprino/ little goat“ used by the indigenous peoples of the Far East. In Iran called this technique „tahrir“
In 17th-century Italy, 'trillo' referred to the so-called 'Monteverdi trill' or bleat, a tremolo-like repetition of a single pitch. Singing these trills was frowned upon.

Love your comments, especially relating to Dimash's vocalizations, which I recognized immediately as a Middle Eastern prayer chant - in The Story of One Sky, Dimash also does "vocalizations" of the Christian, Jewish, Buddist religions, in addition to the Islamic ones in the faith he follows.
He is absolutely incredible , across all genres, mesmerizing. The song Ikanaide always brings me to tears, and I also love the song "Across Endless Dimensions ". ❤️🙏🎵🎶

6:12 He is performing 'zhoktau' (the description that Dimash's riff) may have been an improvisation of the Kazakh traditional weeping for someone's death, in this case, the death of Batyr Shukenov, the lead localist of A'Studio, the original group that sang this, who died in 2015.

In a lot of ways this song displays even more of Dimash’s unique abilities than SOS and Stranger. He’s all over the place, range-wise (that E6!), there’s that “goat trill” or whatever it’s called, that had to take a LOT of hard work to perfect, and then right after he hits (I think) a B5 using an entirely different (and clearly masculine) vocal timbre than his “soprano” sounds earlier in the song. His incredible breath control in that extended run at the end-he just basically puts it all out there in this song. I’m sorry we don’t have more different performances of this one.
And yeah, I’d never have found Dimash if it weren’t for reaction videos, and the COVID shutdown which gave me more time to explore music on RUclips.
The guy in the white shirt at the end, leading the standing O is master Russian composer Igor Krutoy. He came out of retirement after this to work with Dimash. You’ve probably heard Stranger, which is one of their collabs, and you’ll see Krutoy at the piano quite a lot in Dimash’s videos.
    Great reaction!!

Yes, Dimash is an Independant artist. He now has developed his own production company, and recording studios in various countries. He networks/works collaboratively with other exceptional musicians and composers worldwide. He skips across and expertly dips in and out of multiple genres and refuses to be confined to a single genre. This is part of why the Western Music Industry can't categorise him into their heavily marketed genre-specific 'lanes'. And why so many, particularly in the USA, are asking; "WHY have I never heard of him before!?" And also, saying; "I didn't know I would like this kind of music!"
Genre Busting unique megatalented and independent artists, like Dimash, like REN, are leading the way out of the stagnant and overly commodified world of the 'established industry' and shining a light on where creativity lives, and how music and storytelling are the Universal Language.[ # That 'trill' you repeated is actually a Kazakh mourning vocalisation which Dimash inserted into this piece- without prior notice to this Kazakh band: A-Studio, - to honour the original lead singer, now passed. ]

Besides his dumbfounding vocal range, I think Dimash just doesn’t limit himself in terms of his voice. He believes he can sing opera, and pop, and rock, and much more. He’s up for the challenge, not only because of his range, but because he has total faith in himself as a vocalist.

Your reason for not doing Dimash! Dimash! Dimash! makes sense. I love watching reactions of his music, but another reason I don't like to watch often is that all the people reacting to him are doing the same songs! There is so much more to him. This was another very enjoyable reaction. This was his 2018 guest performance at the New Wave competition, held annually since 2002 at the New Wave Hall in Sochi Olympic Park. The band A-Studio is originally from Kazakhstan. The keyboard player, Baigali Serkebaev, composed the song together with the poet Ilia Reznik, and the song was first performed in 1998. The singer of the group A-Studio passed away in 2015, and in this concert, the group was backing up guest vocalists. The triangle man is multi-percussionist Ilya Pokrovsky, a very talented man and a close friend of Dimash, and a member of the Dimash team (DQ Team). He plays various percussion instruments and accompanies Dimash in all his concerts.
Someone explained that the special tribal riff is something practiced in Kazakhstan, Mongolia, and other parts of Asia. A similar technique is also used in some parts of the Middle East. It is referred to by some as a "glottal stop". We use it too when we say "uh oh". A Kazakh RUclipsr commented that Dimash used a Kazakh singing technique, called 'komeymen aytu'. You can hear it among the Turan Group. Sakha people use this technique too; they call it 'kylyhah'. I read somewhere that the tribal vocalization was a tribute to the deceased singer, as it is similar to a technique usually used by women in Kazakh funeral ceremonies. The final run is 21.73 seconds on one breath.
This competition was organized by the man in the white shirt who stood up in the first row, Igor Krutoy, a famous Ukrainian/Russian music composer, performer, producer, and musical promoter. He invited Dimash to perform, and it was this performance that prompted him to come out of retirement and compose masterpieces for Dimash to sing, such as I Miss You, Ogni Pietra, Your Love, Stranger, and Ave Maria, just to name a few. Since this concert, he has been collaborating with Dimash, writing music with his vocal range in mind, and often accompanying him on the piano. So you'll see more of him.

For those who like information about Dimas' songs:
Sinful Passion - The story behind this song is very interesting: The band that accompanies Dimash is the same one that composed the song, without the singer who died after a heart attack! The band is also from Kazakhstan and this performance by Dimash revitalized the song. Moreover, in the final part he added, with an oriental technique (from the Kazakhstan region). The song was originally performed in 1998 and the band name is A'Studio (Kazakh pop music group based in Russia, "Alma-Ata Studio", Almaty city). The dead singer (who Dimash was a fan of) left the band in 2000 and passed away in 2015 and his name was Batyrkhan Shukenov. The lyrics are by the poetess Ilia Reznik together with Baigaly Serkebayev, who is the long-haired keyboardist, who we see in the video that accompanies Dimash.
    Hugs from Brazil!

Этот, в красном пиджаке, всё переврал. Не обращайте на него внимания.
Конкурс в Китае назывался "I am a Singer", а не "Голос",
Он там занял второе место, а не победил,
Песня называется "Грешная страсть", а не "Грешная любовь"!

I would assume someone has already informed you that that “chopping” yodel is called a Caprino, which is an Italian musical term for a fast twittering vibrato in the voice, literally a 'little goat' or 'goat-like'.
You can watch as many of his performances as you like but he is a constant surprise!
    Cheers!
