Those Sierra retracts are sexy! I just have rhe Robarts air spring retracts in my P51

I like them too, but Sierra doesn’t make .60 size retracts for the P-51, or I’d buy them for mine. I’m using Robart gear in my P-51 as well.

Are the wheels on the P40 straight down? On my TF P51 the plans show them to be 90⁰ but the real P51 has then at 85⁰ pointed outward. I'm not familiar with the P40

I just remembered this or I would of mentioned this earlier.

The real P-40 landing gear should be 90 degrees from the ground, parallel with each other.

Looking great. I gotta say your dremel work for the Sierra Giant Retracts look a tad bit better than mine does. I was really wondering if using the Sierra Giant Retracts was a mistake due to how much of the wing spar i had to remove to get them to fit in the wing. I went ahead and tried to beef up the spar by epoxying a piece of basswood between the wing ribs on the back of the spar. I hope it is enough. I am looking forward to se how you run the air lines. I took some small 1/2" Diameter model rocket tubing and ran it through about 5 of the ribs to make a tunnel through the wing to hopefully make it easy to mess with the air lines after the wing is sheeted. I guess I will see if that works out or not. I need to start sheeting the wing.

Yeah, it took about half the spar away diagonally. I think it’ll be fine. The rocket tubes sounds like a good idea. I just used my Dremmel and made a few holes in the ribs for the air lines. Thanks for the comment.

I think I bought it from Tower Hobbies years ago. Like everything else in the hobby, it’s probably discontinued. Lol. I think Great Planes makes it.
