I can relate to this! I love and am very much in love with my current partner but neither of us is caught up in the trappings of it. We’re not hung up on when our anniversary will be, when we’ll get married, etc. we just made a choice based on our feelings and respect for each other, to love and commit to one another every day. We have tons of fun and do sweet things for each other but because we WANT to, not because society or convention says so.
Well the concept of love as we know it is very very new. You did not get married because you fell in love. You got married because you were going to war, or you were too old, or you exchanged property. Even biblical marriage was not about love. It was about duty. We have the privilege today to talk about being in love but for many love has a different meaning.
