As an American I am the last person who should be commenting on UK laws. But I can say that even though our ebike laws are less restrictive, we still discuss many of the same issues. For example, even if my ebike could go faster, I can legally only throttle or pedal up to 28 miles per hour. Often when riding on the roads with cars, 28 is too slow as most of our road speed limits are higher than that. I'm afraid to ride on roads with only one lane in each direction as car drivers don't , or won't, slow down to safely pass.
@GregB-f1x that's how I feel at 15. Like I want cars to pass me as I know I must be bugging them. And I'm nervous when they stay behind me. Maybe all Ebikes should legally have to be registered to an owner. So a licence plate or something ((just to identify people who abuse the system). But keep the clarification the same. Not sure we should be allowed to go over 30mph on roads without a licence and test ect. But something needs to change. 🙂
