Remember God knows everything that has happened to you (good n bad). Forgive so that you too can be forgiven for any wrong thing that you may have done consciously or unconsciously. Forgiveness begins with us. We must learn how to forgive ourselves much as we speak of forgiving others. I sense loads of pain and disappointment not only with your mom but also with yourself. Given the circumstances you are allowed.

Also find a teaching by John Macarthur about unlikely heroes. Listening to you had made me see an unlikely hero in you. As in you have had so many setbacks, but your ability to rise above is evident. Please find John Macarthur... Listen to this teaching... I believe that you will see light , you will be a city on a hill that cannot be hidden...

The good thing is that the past belongs to the past, accept the new thing the Lord is doing in your life!
Mercy, you are not alone. I’m so sorry Mercy, you were sacrificed by the person who is meant to protect you the most in life even excluding your father- that person is your mother. You grow up in her in-utero and she is meant to nurture you before you even come into this world. Unfortunately, she didn’t do that but fortunately, you are NOT alone.
I recommend therapy as soon as possible. Justus if you reach out to me, I’m willing to support the first two sessions of a therapist that has helped me greatly with my own mother wound. Her name is Grace Kariuki. She focuses on childhood trauma and the mother wound.
Mercy- you need a professional to help you grieve first. Not grieve your father, because you have done this and continue to do this. You need to grieve the loss and pain of your mother.
A professional therapist will also help you understand the psychology that harms many many black and African women across the world -not just in Kenya( I live in the U.S but I’m from Kenya and grew up there). This condition i.e. narcissistic maternal abuse is inter generational and is passed on sadly through the maternal DNA (through the egg). In other words, it happened to your mother by her mother and your grandmother by her mother before her. Passed on through the DNA. If not healed in your own wound, you WILL pass it to your own daughter (s) and they to theirs. If you have sons, they may be prone to aggression and be abusive to the women in their lives (wives, kids). Do you see this pattern?
What is beautiful about this story is that you are also a believer . So, Aside from professional therapy, God is above your mother and your father. He knew you before they knew you , from when before you were in her womb. So, she is only a vessel trusted by God to nurture you and was unable to do this because of her own trauma. Understanding her from a perspective of inter generational trauma will help you forgive her and this doesn’t mean you welcome her back into your life. In fact, you may need to protect yourself from her because she isn’t a safe person in your life. She doesn’t see a future for herself beyond destruction so she cannot see the same for you.
Now that you are an adult, you must take care of you, so that you can be the best person to attract love, light and happiness which you deserve in your life ! Remember , you are not alone !!!! There are many women much less brave than you and, God is by your side and will use your story to restore you!

This lady is scarred it can take only God to heal her no therapist can do it. Even if she gets a good job a good husband nothing will heal her spirit I wish I could be in contact with her.
You need God, forgive yourself, your mother, and everyone else who caused you pain. .
Go for a retreat at vincentian prayer house lavington or vincentian retreat center Thika for an inner healing retreat you will be able to heal from your past through prayer and the love of God. You will have inner peace.

We all carry bagages from our pasts and if we don't work them out or rattert find peace with them we subconciously hur every one that comes close to us. So negative or not the past has a way of interfering with the future as clearly played out in her case. Soothing words don't help although they are the most desired right.
