I was kind of disappointed to hear that actually because in the Sims 4 everything is always so happy and perfect so some rivalry between snowboarders and skiers would have helped to spice things up a bit. Unless the lady in the trailer is a snowboarder and there actually is a rivalry...
Yes falling death is confirmed as well as vending machines death and probably wildlife attacks death (bats, insectes). These death will happens once your sims already got several injuries

I'm also a bit skeptical. I could imagine that we just get a negative moodlet when our Sims do something that doesn't suit their lifestyle and we all know how easily we can overpower this with just some fine moodlets. (Or nicely decorated)
I love how they're actually adding "hiking" because I get tired of just clicking on random spots on the ground and my sim acting like they're actually taking a walk around an area
@@leaselmary_sims2189 there wasn't real hiking in outdoor retreat, you just clicked on the ground of the forest and you could go "hike". that's not hiking lol
Am I the only one who isn't at all interested in the skiing and all the snow stuff but instead in the Japanese style stuff? I mean I would buy the pack just for that.
The reason this pack looks much better is because we actually had a few Simmers work with them on it. Might have to grab this one! Just hope we have more than 3-4 empty lots (or lots in general) to build on.
Its possible lilsimsie leaked the map for the new world if u wanna have a look im pretty sure its on one of simmer erins videos. Maybe pixelade or another news video. But it seems like she possibly did on stream and she ended up deleting that stream.

I mean Sims 4 is full of LGBTQ+ this isn't new xD but I really welcome the new fashion and the Lifestyle thingy... I really hope it brings more depth to the sims

@@XYAresYX It's a hint towards a possible change in gameplay that involves improved interaction/story telling through different sims generations. Hopefully this kind of pack will come with schools or retirement homes. You get what I mean?

I'm really glad it's not a vacation world and our sims get to live there. It makes me think that maybe they should get rid of vacation worlds and have your sims be able to vacation anywhere like rent a home or stay at a hotel.
i think it was confirmed that mt komorebi is going to have both vacation lots and residential lots so i think its gonna come in an update where we can add vacation lots anywhere we want
I really wish this was an actual _gameplay_ trailer. This seems like the first pack in a log time to actually add gameplay features and we don’t even get to see them fully. I thought I had a grasp on what the Lifestyles were going to be like but seeing the window in this trailer, I’m at square one. Do you get to know how far you are in a lifestyle? Are any of them things that don’t mimic traits? Since so many of them are exactly like traits, will actual traits be changed up so sims with a certain trait don’t just automatically end up being in a lifestyle and you’re actual gameplay with them will put them in the lifestyle? Are lifestyles persistent? Or is there actually nothing more to lifestyles than just unlocking them each day?
The gaming giants like EA and Ubisoft are working harder than the devil to change the definition of gameplay. Apparently showing animations now qualifies as gameplay.

I havent seen anyone mention it in the comments yet but im actually super excited about harajuku fashion being in the game. Its nice that not only traditional clothes are included but modern alt fashion as well. I'm personally into EGL but I'm sure some other j fashion nerds are excited for it as well. I hope there's going to be gameplay tied to it as well, maybe with festivals? Looking forward to it.

I really wish sims would make a documentary or something like that where they show us the process of making a pack for the sims 4. I think it would give simmers a lot more appreciation for the people working on the sims.

@Oliphant Kid They are surprisingly comfortable. I have some for guests with tatami mats and often opt to sleeping on it my self lol. It feels like my spine is melting and it's great.

@@Labener It's based on Japanese culture. You're probably thinking of the South Korean simmers who found some parts of the pack offensive due to the history and the Sim people took those aspects out of the game.
They fill trailers with lore and story and then lose it all when you enter the game. I really hope this pack turns everything around. They have a chance to give us alot of what we asked for in one pack. I wonder what other new families are getting added?
I really don’t care for that, since the sims 1 I have preferred to create MY OWN stories, rather than following I patter we’re given. Gotta admit that with good writing, the characters give the lots and game more insight

@@bri827 You'd love Sims 2 then. Have you heard of the Tricou family? They're a family that all died of unnatural causes in Sims 2: Nightlife. The two youngest (Teen) members, the cousins Fricorith and Gvaudoin, are buried at the now empty house they lived at, the House of Fallen Trees, along with a young woman they accidentally scared to death as ghosts. both their sets of parents and their shared grandparents however are buried in a nearby cemetery. Now this is where it gets really interesting, it appears the grandfather, Jon Smith Tricou, slept around a bit as he, unknown to even himself (To the point they're not marked on his family tree) has 6 teenage children of varying races still alive in town living as townies. If one of them is made playable and have access to one of the various resurrection methods, they can revive their father (As he's marked as such on their tree) who can then do the same with the rest of the family (As only their father is marked on their trees, they can't) A few other interesting tidbits is that their house is programed to be unusually dark and creepy even if more lights are put in or cheats are used to make it brighter. This effect persist even if the house is copied/moved to a different lot. Additionally there are coffins in the house hinting at least part of family was Vampiric at one point though none are flagged as such when revived.
I'm really excited that there is new stuff for kids and toddlers too, like how they can snowboard and the new clothes are cool aswell. (Remember how bikes in discover university were not usable for child sims, and spooky stuff had more for adults and teens than for kids and toddlers despite halloween bein a mostly child focused holiday?).
They kids can do all the snow sports. Even the toddlers can sled too with someone older. And there's an entire children's festival with a hunt for voidcritters (which I guess is like pokemon go)

The Sims was like “Okay what have they wanted for a LONG TIME and haven’t given them?... what? east asian/Japanese builds/culture and snow sports... OKAY YOU GOT IT!”
i'm so down for this pack, but i'm really hoping some of the deeper gameplay features will restore my sims play. i just remember getting so lost in the family drama and gossip of sims 2. i don't want to think that i lost my childhood imagination and outgrew the franchise. the sims add magic to my life.

@@yuniko9884 that’s true but they’re pushing the pack so hard. idk if you saw but on origin it said star wars was required for my first pet stuff which is obviously not true. they keep putting ads like this up to trick people into buying it because the sales on it are so bad. so i feel like if they made a spin off game with more content, even if it took a higher budget or more time, they would’ve made more profit because most sims 4 players are just not interested in star wars. i honestly don’t think they put a lot of thought into it.

@Roxie Rocks yea bc in America, the school uniforms (if your district is a uniform one) is very different that Japanese uniforms (as like the ones in the trailer) America is more so polo solid color shirts and a solid color bottom (depends on your schools colors)
One of the reasons my husband gave me this expansion is precisely the presence, albeit nuanced, of the Shinto path. - I remember that a few years ago while we were taking a trip to one of our valleys, my husband and I found ourselves at the Shrine of the lady of the water. When she got to this source, the woman dressed in white told her to drink and in the end the tired and sick girl obeyed. After a few hours he began to feel slightly better and quickly recovered from the fever and the signs of the black scourge vanished. When she went back to the village and told what had happened to her, no one wanted to believe her, except the priest. So the girl accompanied him to the spring and, also sick, he was healed by the spring water. Word spread faster than a fire and a small sanctuary was built next to the source, which can still be visited today. Every time we have been there I have bowed to the source and I sincerely thanked the figure of this woman, this spirit of nature, dryad, madonna, call her as you prefer, who saved the life of this little girl and therefore that of her village. I'm sorry for the Koreans, but I understand why the Japanese people feel important to stoop in front of a Shinto shrine, I understand it deeply and also in the active game the animations with the cheat and I make them do it, because I feel it is right. - I am sorry for all the other nations that feel offended, but if we go back in time then all the peoples of the earth should feel offended about something and towards someone. This is an expansion on Japan and it is important that it is represented correctly or the Japanese will suffer the injustice. As for the South Koreans ... for a Buddhist country they have left everyone a little perplexed here: a tree offers the same shelter from the sun both to the monk who sits underneath and to the man who wields an ax to cut it down. They should work on their Zen side. A good proposal would be to do something Korean with Zen Buddhist overtones for them, well done perhaps with some historical and folklore reference. A healthy and rich product that Unites their culture under a single flag. - Aside from that, a few things are missing to consider the Japanese expansion complete: Ikebana Kendo Tea ceremony (already present in the sims 2 Takemizu village) Calligraphy with regard from Italy

I think this is the most excited I've been about Sims 4 content since University. I'm thrilled by all the japanese culture gameplay (the tatami, the genkan, the kotatsu, all the furniture, did i see a matsuri? hope it's good). Hope lifestyles are good also and have some real impact in the game and your sim's personality. The mountain looks cool as well, not the main point i will buy this pack for but I will take my sims there from time to time for winter holidays i guess. PS: Just give the Batuu gamepack for free, i didnt even find it worth it buying with a 50% discount, is the only expansion i don't own)

When my 9-year-old niece and I saw the first trailer for Snowy Escape, we both screamed are heads off when we saw the Japanese-inspired features, because we both love anime and some things about japanese culture. Literally when we saw the new features, the public baths and hot springs, the tatami floors, the shoji doors, and specially the kotatsu tables, the hot pot and the japanese food, we were screeching so much I almost lost my voice LOL, we can't wait 'til November to play it. Lately, I've been learning japanese, I've watched animes growing up and also now that I'm almost 24, I've been practicing to write Kanjis, and I also watched videos in RUclips of people who moved to Japan and were showing their apartments, and I fell in love with all of that, and now that this expansion is coming out, I'm obssessed with this and I'm eager to play it.

This pack actually looks really good. I'm excited to see what the lifestyles are all about and how they work. I'm also really happy that the main character in the trailer was LGBTQ+, it makes me so happy to see diverse representation in the Sims.
I was just saying this to my friend! I like that this character and Morgan from Realm of Magic are both canonically LGBTQ+ without it coming off as performative. Morgan is NB and uses they/them pronouns, and this character (whose name i wish we knew!) is just talking about her wonderful partner. bless. EDIT: i think the main character's name is Hina? (her simstagram of her gf/partner has the name "Hina K." in the top left corner.
I think it must be like the more you do of a certain thing the more likely you'll get the lifestyle like eg if you snowboard a lot you'll get energetic and if you eat more cakes and unhealthy based food you'll get the like unhealthy food lifestyle and so on.

Can I just say that I am so thoroughly pleased but also overwhelmed with how well you pinpointed mountain life in Japan. I lived in the most popular prefecture for snowboarding and skiing in Japan, Niigata prefecture. Even down to the visuals of architecture and how the buildings mostly look at ski resorts in Japan, everything is perfect. The name of the mountain is a little cheesy, very Tumblr, but cute

I've been to Japan and an onsen. One of the "rules" was to not wear swimsuits. Like...it's fine that your sims don't have to be nude, but mentioning there are "rules" and showing sims in their swimsuits made me laugh.

Mmmhmm I suspect this also.. the voice overs are a great marketing technique. Giving the character personality in the trailer but in game play theres no voiceover I fear the game will lack basic gameplay and the pack will bug out

The reason this pack looks much better is because we actually had a few Simmers work with them on it. Might have to grab this one! Just hope we have more than 3-4 empty lots (or lots in general) to build on.

I'm really glad it's not a vacation world and our sims get to live there. It makes me think that maybe they should get rid of vacation worlds and have your sims be able to vacation anywhere like rent a home or stay at a hotel.

I really wish this was an actual _gameplay_ trailer. This seems like the first pack in a log time to actually add gameplay features and we don’t even get to see them fully. I thought I had a grasp on what the Lifestyles were going to be like but seeing the window in this trailer, I’m at square one. Do you get to know how far you are in a lifestyle? Are any of them things that don’t mimic traits? Since so many of them are exactly like traits, will actual traits be changed up so sims with a certain trait don’t just automatically end up being in a lifestyle and you’re actual gameplay with them will put them in the lifestyle? Are lifestyles persistent? Or is there actually nothing more to lifestyles than just unlocking them each day?

I havent seen anyone mention it in the comments yet but im actually super excited about harajuku fashion being in the game. Its nice that not only traditional clothes are included but modern alt fashion as well. I'm personally into EGL but I'm sure some other j fashion nerds are excited for it as well. I hope there's going to be gameplay tied to it as well, maybe with festivals? Looking forward to it.

@@Labener It's based on Japanese culture. You're probably thinking of the South Korean simmers who found some parts of the pack offensive due to the history and the Sim people took those aspects out of the game.

@@bri827 You'd love Sims 2 then. Have you heard of the Tricou family? They're a family that all died of unnatural causes in Sims 2: Nightlife. The two youngest (Teen) members, the cousins Fricorith and Gvaudoin, are buried at the now empty house they lived at, the House of Fallen Trees, along with a young woman they accidentally scared to death as ghosts. both their sets of parents and their shared grandparents however are buried in a nearby cemetery.
Now this is where it gets really interesting, it appears the grandfather, Jon Smith Tricou, slept around a bit as he, unknown to even himself (To the point they're not marked on his family tree) has 6 teenage children of varying races still alive in town living as townies. If one of them is made playable and have access to one of the various resurrection methods, they can revive their father (As he's marked as such on their tree) who can then do the same with the rest of the family (As only their father is marked on their trees, they can't)
A few other interesting tidbits is that their house is programed to be unusually dark and creepy even if more lights are put in or cheats are used to make it brighter. This effect persist even if the house is copied/moved to a different lot. Additionally there are coffins in the house hinting at least part of family was Vampiric at one point though none are flagged as such when revived.

I'm really excited that there is new stuff for kids and toddlers too, like how they can snowboard and the new clothes are cool aswell. (Remember how bikes in discover university were not usable for child sims, and spooky stuff had more for adults and teens than for kids and toddlers despite halloween bein a mostly child focused holiday?).

They kids can do all the snow sports. Even the toddlers can sled too with someone older. And there's an entire children's festival with a hunt for voidcritters (which I guess is like pokemon go)

i'm so down for this pack, but i'm really hoping some of the deeper gameplay features will restore my sims play. i just remember getting so lost in the family drama and gossip of sims 2. i don't want to think that i lost my childhood imagination and outgrew the franchise. the sims add magic to my life.

@Roxie Rocks yea bc in America, the school uniforms (if your district is a uniform one) is very different that Japanese uniforms (as like the ones in the trailer) America is more so polo solid color shirts and a solid color bottom (depends on your schools colors)

One of the reasons my husband gave me this expansion is precisely the presence, albeit nuanced, of the Shinto path.

It is not well explained how, but this little girl started walking, it was cold it was going towards winter and finally she reached this valley where there was a torrent and from the rock this source of water gushed.
When she got to this source, the woman dressed in white told her to drink and in the end the tired and sick girl obeyed.
After a few hours he began to feel slightly better and quickly recovered from the fever and the signs of the black scourge vanished.
When she went back to the village and told what had happened to her, no one wanted to believe her, except the priest.
So the girl accompanied him to the spring and, also sick, he was healed by the spring water.
Word spread faster than a fire and a small sanctuary was built next to the source, which can still be visited today.
Every time we have been there I have bowed to the source and I sincerely thanked the figure of this woman, this spirit of nature, dryad, madonna, call her as you prefer, who saved the life of this little girl and therefore that of her village.
I'm sorry for the Koreans, but I understand why the Japanese people feel important to stoop in front of a Shinto shrine, I understand it deeply and also in the active game the animations with the cheat and I make them do it, because I feel it is right.

They should work on their Zen side.
A good proposal would be to do something Korean with Zen Buddhist overtones for them, well done perhaps with some historical and folklore reference.
A healthy and rich product that Unites their culture under a single flag.

I think this is the most excited I've been about Sims 4 content since University. I'm thrilled by all the japanese culture gameplay (the tatami, the genkan, the kotatsu, all the furniture, did i see a matsuri? hope it's good). Hope lifestyles are good also and have some real impact in the game and your sim's personality. The mountain looks cool as well, not the main point i will buy this pack for but I will take my sims there from time to time for winter holidays i guess.
PS: Just give the Batuu gamepack for free, i didnt even find it worth it buying with a 50% discount, is the only expansion i don't own)
Speaking about that did you get eco and when you went to uni dorms they started like cancelling their actions to bake or exercise etc. Has thag been fixed do you know
When my 9-year-old niece and I saw the first trailer for Snowy Escape, we both screamed are heads off when we saw the Japanese-inspired features, because we both love anime and some things about japanese culture. Literally when we saw the new features, the public baths and hot springs, the tatami floors, the shoji doors, and specially the kotatsu tables, the hot pot and the japanese food, we were screeching so much I almost lost my voice LOL, we can't wait 'til November to play it. Lately, I've been learning japanese, I've watched animes growing up and also now that I'm almost 24, I've been practicing to write Kanjis, and I also watched videos in RUclips of people who moved to Japan and were showing their apartments, and I fell in love with all of that, and now that this expansion is coming out, I'm obssessed with this and I'm eager to play it.
They literally said “generations to come”. That can’t be an accident.
Thought it was a reference to the eco pack - keeping the environment clean?
"Fingers cross" the next pack is Generations and they do more in depth family gameplay!

This pack actually looks really good. I'm excited to see what the lifestyles are all about and how they work. I'm also really happy that the main character in the trailer was LGBTQ+, it makes me so happy to see diverse representation in the Sims.
I was just saying this to my friend! I like that this character and Morgan from Realm of Magic are both canonically LGBTQ+ without it coming off as performative. Morgan is NB and uses they/them pronouns, and this character (whose name i wish we knew!) is just talking about her wonderful partner. bless.
EDIT: i think the main character's name is Hina? (her simstagram of her gf/partner has the name "Hina K." in the top left corner.
Don't forget about the Heckings from Cats and Dogs! I love that they even showed their wedding in the trailer for that one 😍
I think it must be like the more you do of a certain thing the more likely you'll get the lifestyle like eg if you snowboard a lot you'll get energetic and if you eat more cakes and unhealthy based food you'll get the like unhealthy food lifestyle and so on.

I love the idea of how much your sim does something they develop a lifestyle. Thats surely gonna be life changing for gameplay

Can I just say that I am so thoroughly pleased but also overwhelmed with how well you pinpointed mountain life in Japan. I lived in the most popular prefecture for snowboarding and skiing in Japan, Niigata prefecture. Even down to the visuals of architecture and how the buildings mostly look at ski resorts in Japan, everything is perfect. The name of the mountain is a little cheesy, very Tumblr, but cute

Honestly loving the representation of Japanese/ Asian culture and the lgbtq community. The Sims is really trying to be inclusive of everyone and I admire that :)

I've been to Japan and an onsen. One of the "rules" was to not wear swimsuits.
Like...it's fine that your sims don't have to be nude, but mentioning there are "rules" and showing sims in their swimsuits made me laugh.
There's a skinny deeping option though just as pools

so true. well, I'm also sort of excited, but I still will wait, what others say about this pack, because I was hella excited for island living and my hopes were so high and I was so disappointed with the result. Now I'm always putting my hopes down, so I won't get disappointed. I am just afraid, that it will be the same thing we had already with get famous and Sulani, just in another region, although the building things looki great , stilI won't buy it for $40 just for building stuff. Mmmhmm I suspect this also.. the voice overs are a great marketing technique. Giving the character personality in the trailer but in game play theres no voiceover I fear the game will lack basic gameplay and the pack will bug out

@@Chronos4243 Hi. Now, 2 years later from this comment, I can say that I use the pack along with all of the packs that were released until September, and I loved the pack, the fact that I can use a lot of the japanese furniture or create a japanese apartment or house is really beautiful, I love it.
