Ahh, the infamous Craftsman no choke, no primer just turn the switch to the on position to start that has to be perfect to work. Many would not do it the first season when they were newly purchased and then most wouldn't after sitting over their first winter. Briggs auto chokes of that era weren't much better with their warping fuel tanks. Takes a lot of patience to get those Tecumsehs sorted and no I am not a Tecumseh hater either. Have a good day brother and keep spreading the word.
@@JrSamples-g4v thank you for the kind words and encouragement and for letting me know that it most definitely is the carburetor and not me lol 😂 God bless
My Dad had a 1973 Eager-1 (10 CID) mower with the "Auto-Magic" carburetor on it. The engine ran mostly okay, but the flywheel got rusty and he quit using it because of that.
Hi Greg your working on my favorite motor tecumseh engines.you got a sears and I got a Montgomery wards mower mines 1980's.pluse I got a freebee it's a 22 inch Murray mower tecumseh #tvs90 engine.engine was filled with leaves and debris had to take apart to clean it.after that ran like a champ.good work as all ways greg.
Awesome video I just had wrote it but it didn't sound right to me not all the time everything works out and that's okay what I was trying to say is when I was a kid I had a series of robots self-propelled mower it was Dripping gas I didn't know nothing about mowers all the sudden it caught on fire my mom ran out the house with a bucket of water and threw it on the lawn mower Stella and put it out I spawn the mower around so I can head up the lot we finally got it out somewhat of an awesome memory I didn't like scaring my mom like that thank you so much for the memory for the video
@@albertpeterson7134 I'm not exactly the opposite. I can fix our vehicles all day long but can't get a Tecumseh carb to work for nothing lol 🤣 thanks for watching God bless.
@gregsmowersandmore5878 I have a good laugh for you. The other day my minibike wouldn't start. I thought the coil went bad so I changed it. Only to find out I forgot to turn the fuel on🤣🤣
Ahh , did you do a compression test ? I saw this time it ran longer Aftermarket carbs for it do exist but they will have a primer on it and likely made in China. I would really hope you can get it going Cheers
Hello Greg, great effort for sure. has the carb got a removable emulsion nozzle above the main jet that could be partially blocked?. I think it maybe aftermarket carb time don't you.. Cheers, Wonky Simon..
I know I think on some of the old Tecumseh they might need the air filter on. (Strange I know) Also on mine it had 2 gaskets for the bowel nut. One on the outside and one on the inside. ( very strange)
@@dfields9511 I tried it with the air filter on at the end of the video. Made zero difference.. I think there's a restriction in the carb somewhere that isn't able to be taken apart or cleaned. That's all I can figure on it. Thank you for the advice though appreciate you watching. God bless
God Bless you Greg.

I have an identical one , 50 years old engine 1974 deck ( it’s on the 2nd deck, period correct). It starts on 1-2 pulls.

@@dfields9511is it the steel deck like this or the aluminum/magnesium one? Not sure the exact composition that they were.
