Great episode guys! I was taking about this the other day with my doubles partner how the Olympics should be organized like NCAA. 1-5, 1vs1s, 2vs2s,etc, best 3-5 wins the match. Split into pools to start. It's your team, and you don't root against your buddies for a spot. Looking forward to seeing everyone play in Denver!
OOS, riiight side, and sandcast collab would possibly be one of the greatest volleyball events known to mankind. 😂

At end of the day it’s completely disappointing that beach volleyball’s business leader’s don’t have a transparent mission statement (that I’m aware of) and/or a business model that is putting player earnings as a high priority and doing everything possible to making fans/enthusiasts a priority and figuring out a way to draw more fans in. a marketing department to inspire major corporations to partner with the sport . Something creatively needs to happen and no ideas are wrong or right but every idea should be on the table for exploring and semi pro and pro players should carry some responsibility to be ambassadors and like I said. -mission statement to be involved with and following the direction of the leadership and an acting commissioner representing them
The pro organization oughta be engaging with every organization and tournament organization and finding ways to partner with them to entice them to want to be at their pro events. Swingers (coed swapper tournament in Santa Monica), for example, was the same weekend as AVP Huntington - there’s hundreds of players there and they have no incentive to not throw those tournaments
Why isn’t every club organization bringing their athletes and families to the pro events
Clearly there’s no engagement between the pro event leaders or USA beach volleyball and every club and league and tournament directors
Also,… reach out to execs at Twitch (they have budgets to help channels grow)
Maybe one of the best episodes to date. Super inspiring and genuinely exciting to hear 4 of the most influential players in the game actively discussing and mulling over what can make the sport better. Gut feeling: the newest and most exciting wave of beach volleyball culture and fanaticism is fast approaching, thanks in large part to the efforts of these guys here.
None of them are relevant on the world tour, how could they possibly be the most influential?

Do you know what happens when you share secrets? The real matches that people watch become tactically interesting. And the fans - the old and the new - become more interested.
How many times do you see someone walking on the strand see a match and decide if they want to stay and watch or just bounce? It has to be interesting enough to invest their time and possibly money for them to stick around. In most popular sports, not only do they share secrets - they exchange game film. Travis knows this, because he covered college football - never mind the pro scene.
I do not hold this responsibility to the higher-level players - the other players should be living in the video room like a hermit or enlist a coach that knows what they are looking for. At this point, it is embarrassing that player "secrets" to their success even exists as a concept.
Because if it stays like this, we as a country are just going to be content on having the best in the USA be middle of the pack in the rest of the world. Make every match engaging? Even if you lose, you get paid. Stay like this? Even if you win - do you win?
With that being said? Helluva podcast. It is rare that other podcasters get to listen to their contemporary's episode, much less the episode in its entirety. Tri, Travis, this was fantastic.
As a native NYer, I would looooove for the Taylors to represent NYC, or Troy Field and a partner of his choosing.
