What a great and thorough break down of a case study write up. Great work Maddy. One thing to keep in mind is to keep the execution quite visual and delightful to look at. It can be hard for employers to digest when it's very content heavy.
Just found out your channel and I'm in love! I I'm a Social Sciences major with a passion for Design. UX gave me the possibility to join the two things I love the most: research and creativity. I'm building my first case study and this video helped me so much :)
Maddy!! Came by your channel when I first started looking into UX and I just want to thank you so much for all the great content you've put out! It's so beyond helpful and is very much appreciated! I'm a fellow fine art student looking to get into '"tech" and you're videos are so informative. Thanks!
Hi Maddy, thank you for making this video, I learned so much from it. Thank you! I'd like to ask about the research process you went through. How did you get so many survey results? Is there a separate video discussing this? Thank you again.
I have been through a few videos on youtube to build case studies, but this video of you was an excellent piece of work. Can you please also give us the Case Study Outline?
Glad it was helpful! And good question -- I'd probably rename my research section to say "Foundational Research" and then add a section after the sketches & wireframes called "Testing." This way it's clear you tested before producing final designs. But of course it all depends on your process and how you want to tell the story! There's not just one right answer :)
@Maddy Beard Please what if the project I'm working I haven't had any end users yet because it hasn't been developed yet. Please point out the most important things I should outline in my ux case study
If I followed right, your key moments are the important aspects/feature of the FreshList design? We don't necessarily have to include the entire flow from end-to-end in our case study?
Yes, correct! At least that’s my approach. That way it guides the viewers to see what’s most important and doesn’t rely on a prototype that someone has to “figure out” if that makes sense.
Hi Maddy! Thanks for this video. After creating your case study in XD, how do you port it over to your online portfolio website? What happens if you lose resolution when you export the artboards as images to upload it in your website?
I do have one! It's for my paid behance subscribers (something I just started!) Here's the link if you want to check it out :) www.behance.net/maddybeard/subscription
That was an excellent explanation for a case study! Thank you. That’s what I struggle with the most. One question what platform did you use to record the video?
How can we do any testing when it’s a made up project?? (For a portfolio). We need research but no one is saying how we can gather some (outside of friends/family).
You could ask on social media, or go to a college campus and hand out gift cards or free coffees to anyone willing to participate! For your first few projects, it doesn’t have to be really formal :)
What tool do you use to create information architecture? I use draw.io but recently when I exported my IA diagram to the svg file and put in Figma or Adobe XD it was crashed, fonts were in another color etc haha. Of course there are many of tools to make diagrams (for example Google draw or OmniGraffle) but maybe you recommend something especially? Or you make it with Adobe XD and some plugin? Greetings :)
@@dipraghosh8779 Yeah, FigJam is a new, cool tool. I'm gonna check it out :) Another one is Miro but you can't export to svg or high-quality png for free.

Thanks! Yes, 100%. This is something I show in some of my other case study videos! The verbal/visual balance and relationship is key. Great tip!

This was really helpful. In the midst of redesigning my portfolio
Oh Maddy! Love you so much. This is what I really need now! How could you know I’m writing my first case study outline 🤣
Awh yay!!! Hahaha I'm so glad it came at a good time :)
Well explained and good example. Thanks you
This was so helpful! Thank you!
Amazing video Maddy!
Thank you, Maddy!! I really like your case study framework!
I have been through a few videos on youtube to build case studies, but this video of you was an excellent piece of work. Can you please also give us the Case Study Outline?
I’m creating a whole Skillshare course in case studies that will help you create the outline, and write the whole case study! So look out for that :)
Great video, Maddy!
Another video, another thing to learn. Great stuff. Keep going 👍
Another great video Maddy. You made it really easy to understand. Thank you!
Thanks Luis! I’m so glad!
I love you videos Maddy! I am new to your Channel & subscribed!! Can't wait to watch more of your videos & get inspired!!
Thanks for subscribing!! Happy to have you here ☺️
Thanks so much for this channel!
Thanks a lot for the update, what's your design thinking process Maddy?
Thank you very much. this will help me a lot.
Thanks a lot. Really appreciate the video
Generally speaking how long does it take for you to put together a case study like such?
Excellent video, so helpful in getting an organized workflow! If you did usability testing where would you fit into your document?

@@maddybeardUX Great idea! Look forward watching more of your content.
great great amazing video. thanks❤
So helpful! Thank you!!
You're welcome!
How do you develop the visual design of your case study?
Good question! Here's the video where I go in depth on that :) ruclips.net/video/Tx-lh4yIM_k/видео.html

Hi Maddy! Thanks for this video. After creating your case study in XD, how do you port it over to your online portfolio website? What happens if you lose resolution when you export the artboards as images to upload it in your website?
Hi! I export my 1920px width artboards as PNGs at 1X, so if you do that you shouldn't lose resolution :)
Do you think you create a template for the case study? It would be really helpful.
I do have one! It's for my paid behance subscribers (something I just started!) Here's the link if you want to check it out :) www.behance.net/maddybeard/subscription
It's so helpful!
I'm so glad!
Do UI/UX designers use figma at Adobe?
hilarious! 🤪
this is a wonderful question
ruclips.net/video/k9KK_0zr3LU/видео.html
What tool did you use to do your survey and interviews? Did you have to pay participants or did they volunteer?
Awesome video. Could you please share this case study doc template?
I haven’t created a public template for this but good to know that it’s something you’d find helpful for the future!
awesome maddy
How did you learn can you recommend an online course
That was an excellent explanation for a case study! Thank you. That’s what I struggle with the most.

Thank you!! :) I used Loom
Can you share this document with us
Keep going

Faced the same problem. Try to use FigJam. It is easy to use and efficient than other diagramming software.

Yeah Miro is great! I hear FigJamb is too. I either use Miro or a plug-in for Xd called Whiteboard :)

men i enjoyed it but it was tiring😁 case study actucally get you to think a little bit more lol.
