    This is so good. It has been a puzzle for me to publish my design in Behance in a very creative and professional way. I was just exporting my final design as an image (designed tool - Figma) and posting it in Behance. Whenever I do that, the image loses quality and ended up removing everything in Behance. And then I found your amazing video. Super duper thank you!

    I have heard that case studies should be more visual oriented than have too much writing since most recruiters and managers spend barely 2 minutes per case study during the hiring process. And the visuals should be understandable and depict the flow and purpose of the app so that the viewer doesn't have to scrutinize each paragraph. Can you please share your views on this?

    Great Content! I am an aspiring UX/UI Designer and just looking to add some flair to my case studies on Behance and my Website too. Quick Question(s). Which might be silly. But how do you design your phone screens which shows your App Design? Is there a separate template or design program for this where you plug your Designed App Screen onto these phones/screens and then duplicate or warp them to your desired look? For example where you have those phone designs for Outcome @ 11:49 how do you design that?

    • @maddybeardUX
      @maddybeardUX  2 года назад +2

      Hey! Not a silly question at all! I created those in Photoshop! So I found photoshop iPhone mock-ups online and they sort of act as templates where you replace one layer with your screen design and it comes out looking like that :)

    Hi Maddy, this content is gold as I am preparing my first case study now :) I don't know yet which platform I will be using for my portfolio (probably Squarespace/Wix) so I'm wondering if I can just create the study in XD for now and later upload the images into any of those websites? Or will I have to redesign the whole study according to the templates of those websites? So I guess my question is if I have to check upfront if my chosen site will support uploading the whole study as an image(like Webflow does, I suppose)? Thanks a lot!!

    • @maddybeardUX
      @maddybeardUX  3 года назад +2

      Hey Jenya! yay I'm so glad! :) Yes, you should definitely be able to upload all of your artboards as full-bleed images stacked on top of eachother in Squarespace or Wix! The method in this video is definitely geared towards Behance, but just like I've done you can definitely upload them to your personal site as well! Just be aware of responsiveness (text and other content that becomes too small on mobile, etc.) Hope that helps!

    I really liked your video. I learned a great deal. You have the boards butting up to each other to see the flow and that’s a great idea. What I am curious to know is you have a design on some boards that flow/overlap onto another board. Is there a way of exporting the entire flow of the boards as one. Like a pdf of the entire design not the separate boards? Thanks

  • @jesss1460
    @jesss1460 3 года назад +2

    Hi Maddy, Thanks for the tutorial. I'm finding it really helpful! I just have one question about the images that overlap onto the next artboard. When I stack my artboards as you mention, and I have an image that bleeds out (I think that's how you called it in the comments :) onto the artboard below, when I export both of the artboards, the image can only be seen on the first artboard (where it exists as a layer). Do you have to copy and double place the image on the second artboard (as another layer) or am I missing something? Thanks for your help!

    • @maddybeardUX
      @maddybeardUX  3 года назад

      Yes, you're exactly right! You have to copy and paste it onto both artboards and line it up :) It's easy to line up though because you'll see both at a low opacity and just nudge it into place!

  • @daniellewauters1565
    @daniellewauters1565 2 года назад

    I absolutely love your design! Your explanation was very thorough and easy to follow. Two questions: Do you find for SEO purposes that placing images of your case study on Behance instead of text, hurts your findability? Also, this could not be an issue, but I find myself using Ctrl + F to scan a website. This function isn't able to be used, have you heard feedback on this form hiring managers? This could just be a personal way I scan websites.

    • @maddybeardUX
      @maddybeardUX  2 года назад

      Thanks Danielle!! That’s definitely a trade-off to this method, you’re right. In a perfect world, I’d have this version on Behance and a custom coded version on my personal website. I’ve wanted to do that forever and honestly just never made the time to do it 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • @maddybeardUX
      @maddybeardUX  2 года назад

    • @maddybeardUX

      So if you create the shapes with this method, then you can use them as masks for the images! Basically you just have to have the image appear twice - one on the artboard above and one on the artboard below, and then just move them around until they line up perfectly :)

    Hi Maddy, when you say you have completed the actual project, where have you put that together? I'm new to UI/UX so please excuse me. Have you put the whole project straight to be designed for a Behance site? Or do you do it somewhere else first and then do it again for the web :o

      In this case, the project was a personal project and not for a client. It's meant to go up on my portfolio and hopefully get the attention of a real clients who might want to work on a similar project! :) So I created the app design in an Adobe Xd file and THEN I created this case study just for the purpose of presenting the personal project on Behance and on my personal site! Hope that answers your question :)

      @@maddybeardUX yes thank you so much ☺️ I'm hoping to put mine into a PDF portfolio, I keep reading you shouldn't post the whole case study online or in the portfolio but how does it make sense to the reader If I cut bits out!? 😭

      Yes, it's definitely about striking a balance between being concise and also including enough info that it's easy to understand :)

    Hi Maddy - here's my issue. I'm a helluva great designer and have created many UI designs. However, I never really took notes on why I did this or that. Now, I'm trying to write a case study and have NO CLUE what to say or verbiage! Have any reccomendations on what would help? I'm fully aware of the structure, but I just don'e know what to say.

      Hey Jason! You’re not the only one… haha my next Skillshare class that I’m working on has several lessons just on this topic. I wish I had a resource to point you to now, but in the meantime try to think about telling the story of your project. Start with the problem, and tell the story of how you got to your solution in a clear and concise way. The key is to focus on what made this project different and remember you’re explaining this to fellow designers / design hiring managers. So don’t spend time defining the basic steps you took. I hope this kinda helps!

      @@maddybeardUX thank you so much for the reply and advice! See, that's the issue... I don't see what the problem or challenge was lol... there wasn't in my eyes, but I'm sure you could look and tell me. I was almost hired by Disney in November. 3 interviews later it resulted in i had no case study! This is really frustrating because I've got the skill no doubt.

      Make sure your artboard is the right size :) When I export I choose PNG, "design" and 1X

    Good job on your case study but this looks very difficult to do. I don't know if I can do a case study this big and comprehensive. It might take me months or maybe even more and even then it might not look as good and professional as yours. I wanted to start ui/ux design but now i'm having doubt.

      You can start smaller! Not all case studies have to be this in depth. :) I also have a Skillshare class to help with this exact topic if you’re interested: skl.sh/3LBrA2l

      @@maddybeardUX so if I'm applying for internship or junior level job then my case studies can be smaller. Right?
