- This video gives an extremely clear explanation of how to carry out a two peg test and record the results correctly in your survey book.
It takes you through the full procedure, step- by- step, showing you exactly what staff readings to take, in what order, where you should write the number down and how to do the calculations and the checks.
Step 1: Put two pegs in the ground 60m apart, call them A and B. Step 2: Set up midway between the two points.
Step 3: Take a reading to A then B and calculate the difference
Step 4: Set up about 5m away from one and 55m away from the other
Step 5: Take the reading to B then A. Find the difference.
Step 6: The collimation error over 55m is the discrepancy between the two calculated differences
Step 7: Repeat steps 2 to 6. Both final answers should agree with each other. If not repeat steps 2 to 6 again.

thank you so much, I gained a lot on videos
Very good video,neatly explained
how do you know that the reduced level is 10.000
You assume that it is 10.000. In theory you could choose any number, 100.000 or 46.521 if you wanted, and you would still get the same result. 10.000 is just a convenient figure. You can test it with a different starting number and the same staff readings and the error will be the same.
