absolutely brilliant, was doing this in college, was a bit lost you're animations make everything so much clearer, you've gone to an awful lot of trouble, so again thanks very much!!!
Am studying Building Design, this video has been far more helpful and explanatory than the official one I'm supposed to be learning from - so thanks very much for this.
hi there, there are a few of months that i'm seeing your videos they are fanrastic and so useful,i work in construction but some things i am watching did,t know. thank's buildsum of your videos
Please correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't you need to take the level readings before building a house or was there another reason for taking them after the house was built?
Hi Mate, there is usually a site survey done as part of preparing the plans and getting the contours for the site however information about the height of specific points on the site are not included. To be fair this is not a survey that you might usually require, you may only need to get the height of one or 2 points at any time however the process is the same and the point of the video was to demonstrate how the level book is filled out.
i dont mean to be off topic but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost my login password. I love any assistance you can give me
@Holden Milo Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thanks again. it would be appreciated if you could help in setting a dumpy level or theodolite on a given BM and fixed peg. i mean to align it with the peg at the Bm. When i try to set it , the whole levl goes off the preset point.
+Kiran Dewoo Hi Kiran I have only ever done this using the the Plumb bob or the sight supplied with the instrument. It is a pain to get right but gets quicker with practice.
so why can't old mate on datum 9 stand right on the corner so when you move the dumpy (change) he can see the staff from both sides and have the same reading (not moving the staff just turning it so he can see it with the dumpy) and if he did how would you write it on your sheet?
Hi Mate, yes that is the idea however you won't have the same reading because the instrument has moved and won't be at the same height as it was. The booking on the sheet would be the same. Hope this helps
great animations! I love all your vedios and you are really helping us all! I only have a question: at the end of the process, when you looking back at the datum point (the reading is 2.634), why did you record it in the "foresight" column? The datum is a known point, I think it should be in the backsight column?
Hi Mate, in this case, because it is a closed survey the point would be known, however, if it was an open survey it wouldn't be and as it is the last reading in the survey it will have to go in the Foresight column otherwise the checks will not work. Hope this helps.
It was very helpful for our booking levels exercise. This kids struggle to get their heads around it! I work at St Francis College in Leeton, NSW. I teach VET Construction to senior students. No doubt I'll continue to show your videos in class, it's like having a building site on hand whenever I need to explain something!
Thanks for posting I have a technical assesment coming soon and these videos are helping me with revision. Would you consider doing a one on one lesson online with me for your rate? My problem is I have been doing building maintenance for the last 5 years and a bit rusty on things and worried I might fail the test!
RobertJohn Hi Robert You could note it if you wanted or you could delete the reading on 17. If you do take the reading just make sure that you end up with the same RL for both. I checked the Rise and Fall sheet and we do so all is OK.

@@Buildsum What your doing is fine....it varies in terminology etc. It all accomplishes the same goal...in England/Europe they label it as shown above, just different terminology...…. I certainly no expert and I imagine it varies from school to school, job to job and depending on what type of report. If you watch the video I posted it shows how that style can be read , used to double check for errors etc. What you did is fine and will work....I am sure some where they teach or use a system completely different than all of this......there is certainly nothing wrong with what you did.
