didn't have all that stuff when I built my y-blocks back in the 60's. Didn't have any leaks with
the rope seals either

Hey that was good . Mine went from a gusher (old rope) to a few drops so I'mhappy. Maybe someday I'll try your method to seal completely...Thanks

Tough under the car for sure. Adding a PCV System and running 1/2 quart low on oil has vastly improved the leak the Ford I bought. I do not if it’s a top seal or not.

my bolts were so loose that i put a little blue lock tight on threads when installing the new one.
